A new trademark application has just surfaced that has Huawei register the name “Luban.” The company applied for the trademark application back on 21st May 2021 and is classified under 9 scientific instruments in the international classification. 
According to an ITHome report, the Chinese tech giant had previously successfully registered the “Huawei Luban” trademark back in 19th December 2020. For those unaware, Luban is associated with a historical figure Lu Ban who has been called the originator of Chinese architecture and is even known as an engineer, inventor, and carpenter as well. In other words, the trademark application holds a symbolic reference to important Chinese culture.
Unfortunately, it is unknown in which product line the Luban trademark will be used. Earlier this year, the company had launched the Nova 8 Pro King of Glory Edition. This special variant of the device features an interesting design and a different UI theme. The rear of the smartphone sports a purple color scheme and is engraved with the Luban character on top. Apart from the design, the internal of the device were still the same as the base variant.
So, we could expect the brand to launch a special variant of an existing model, but the trademark implies that Huawei could be working on a standalore lineup that would feature a distinct design. Although, this is just speculation so take it with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding the matter.
