Apple’s Center Stage (launched with the iPhone 17) uses a special square-shaped sensor and smart software to automatically adjust framing. It lets you switch between portrait and landscape orientations during selfies or video calls without having to physically rotate your phone. The camera also pans and crops intelligently to keep you (or the group) nicely centered.

Samsung might be bringing something similar. According to a report from GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra could get a new 16MP front camera sensor, an upgrade from the 12MP sensor that’s been used since the S23 series. The new sensor is rumored to have a square format, just like Apple’s, which would allow for more flexible framing and better support for that Center Stage-style functionality.

This isn’t just about more megapixels. A better sensor could mean sharper details, improved low-light performance, and the practical ability to take landscape selfies or stay well-framed during video calls without flipping your phone around.

The base S27 and S27 Plus might stick with the existing 12MP front camera, following Samsung’s usual tiered strategy. Still, bringing this kind of upgrade to the higher-end models would be a welcome step forward.

If it happens, this feature would solve a pretty common annoyance: having to rotate your phone during group selfies or video meetings. It fits perfectly with the trend of making cameras smarter and more user-friendly.

The S27 series is expected to launch early next year, and this could be one of its more practical improvements, especially when combined with other rumored features like wider availability of Privacy Display.

As always with early leaks, we’ll have to wait for official confirmation or at least a few more credible leaks. But if Samsung pulls this off, it could make the front camera experience on Galaxy flagships noticeably better for everyday use.
