You might be aware that Xiaomi launches all kinds of lifestyle products under its Mijia brand, and backpacks are one of them. The company today introduced a new bag for daily commuters that is light on the back as well as in the pocket.
The Mijia Lightweight Commuter Backpack weighs just 570 grams and is priced at 99 yuan (around $14).

Despite its light heft, the backpack has an 18-liter capacity. Xiaomi gets there by trimming material in the non-load-bearing sections while keeping the stress points reinforced, so the bag stays sturdy where it counts.
The whole thing is made from polyester fiber, and it comes in black, gray, and beige, all with a unisex design that measures 280×150×430mm.
Inside, you get a double-layer main compartment. One layer holds a laptop up to 16 inches, and the other is open for clothes and everyday items. There’s also a zippered front pocket for small essentials, plus two side pockets sized for a 500mL water bottle or an umbrella.
As for comfort, the shoulder straps curve slightly on the inside to match your body, and Xiaomi says it has adjusted the angle where they connect at the top to cut down on neck friction and armpit pressure during long wear.
On durability, the fabric meets a Level 4 water-repellent rating, so light rain beads off instead of soaking in, and everyday stains wipe away easily. A trolley strap on the back lets you slide it over a suitcase handle; there’s a high-density handle on top for quick grabs, and Xiaomi says the zippers got extra work to keep them quiet when you open and close them.
