Honor is reportedly working on a phone with a built-in rear display for the Honor 700 series, and we now have a better idea of what it could offer. Tipster Digital Chat Station has shared new details on Weibo.
The device, which is likely the Honor 700 Pro, is said to feature a 6.57-inch flat display on the front with a 1.5K resolution. The screen will reportedly have very thin and symmetrical bezels on all four sides. The phone is also expected to use a 200MP main camera, matching earlier reports.
The biggest change, however, is on the back. The phone is rumored to have a 1.72-inch secondary display built into its rear panel.
The rear display’s placement is still unclear
The latest leak does not say where Honor plans to place the smaller screen. It could sit inside the camera island, similar to the rear Magic Back Screen that Xiaomi added to the 17 Pro. Another possibility is that Honor places it somewhere lower on the back of the phone.
Honor has already experimented with the idea of a second screen. The Honor 600 series launched with a magnetic mini display accessory that attaches to the back of the phone. It lets users use the main cameras for selfies while viewing a live preview on the small external screen.
A built-in rear display on the Honor 700 would take that idea a step further by putting the screen directly into the phone instead of requiring a separate accessory.
Rear displays have become more common on flagship phones this year. Xiaomi helped bring the idea into the spotlight with the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, and the company has already confirmed a rear display for the Xiaomi 18 Pro series, which is set to launch this month.
If Honor goes ahead with the feature, the Honor 700 series could offer a similar approach for users who want a secondary screen on the back of their phone.
Honor’s usual release schedule suggests the Honor 700 series could launch in China around November or December. That gives us plenty of time to learn more about the phone, including where Honor plans to place that rear display.
