Citizen has launched the AW0132-55P in the UK, expanding its recent Zenshin collection. Following a US release last week, the watch is now available on the Citizen UK website for £449.00. It is a traditional analog watch that relies on a solar-powered quartz movement and a titanium build, rather than smart features or digital connectivity.
Design Details
The hardware of the AW0132-55P is built around a 39mm case and a matching integrated bracelet, both constructed from Citizen’s proprietary Super Titanium. In watchmaking, titanium is generally utilized for being significantly lighter and more corrosion-resistant than standard stainless steel. However, titanium is typically associated with a muted, matte-grey appearance and can be prone to surface scratching.
Citizen addresses this by applying a surface-hardening treatment to improve scratch resistance, and in this specific model, has opted for a full gold-tone finish. The case and bracelet feature a mix of brushed and polished surfaces, and the bracelet secures via a standard fold-over clasp with push buttons.
On the dial, the watch features a textured gold-tone surface that is contrasted by a black outer minute track. The hands and hour markers include silver-tone detailing and are treated with luminous material for visibility in low-light conditions.
At the 3 o’clock position, Citizen has integrated a combined day-date window, a standard utility feature that aligns with the retro-leaning geometry of the watch. The dial is capped with a sapphire crystal, which provides a high level of scratch resistance.
Internally, the AW0132-55P is equipped with Eco-Drive technology. This is a quartz movement powered by light cells situated beneath the dial. It charges using any natural or artificial light source, effectively eliminating the need for routine battery replacements.
For environmental durability, the case features a water resistance rating of 100 meters (10 Bar), making it viable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling.
