Honor Magic 9’s price officially revealed before launch, offers more RAM, storage than rivals for the same price

Honor is set to unveil the Magic 9 series in China today, September 28. Ahead of the event, the company has already revealed the price of the standard Honor Magic 9. The announcement also gives us an early look at its key hardware and how its pricing compares with recently launched rivals.

Honor Magic 9 specifications and features

The Honor Magic 9 will be available in a 16GB+512GB configuration priced at 5,999 Yuan (~$900) in China. After the applicable government subsidy, the effective price drops to 5,499 Yuan (~$820). The phone will be offered in four colors: Explosive Rice White, Curtain Black, Opening White and Olive Green, according to the promotional material.

A 6.37-inch display is listed for the phone, while the imaging setup includes a 200-megapixel primary camera, a 200-megapixel telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. The Magic 9 will also pack an 8,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. The device is expected to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.

Honor Magic 9 price and availability

The Magic 9’s pricing is particularly notable when compared with recent Chinese launches. The Find X10 starts at 5,499 yuan for the 12GB+256GB variant, while the Vivo X500 also starts at 5,499 Yuan (~$820) for its 12GB+256GB configuration. Both phones debuted earlier this month, making the Magic 9’s 5,999-Yuan starting price 500 Yuan higher than these models before the subsidy is applied.

With the subsidy, the Magic 9 offers more RAM and twice the storage compared with the base variants of the Find X10 and Vivo X500, while effectively matching their 5,499-yuan price. Honor is also highlighting the pricing as a major value proposition, with promotional material claiming that its pre-subsidy price is 500 Yuan below the 6,499-Yuan price of the lowest-priced newly released phone in the same segment.
