Logitech has released the MX Master 4 Developer (Special) Edition, a developer-themed version of its flagship mouse with a new look but the same hardware as the standard model.

We covered the MX Master 4 launch earlier, and the Developer (Special) Edition keeps all its hardware and features intact. The changes are limited to the exterior, which gets a developer-inspired design with etched circuit paths and code-style prompts across the shell.

There are a few hidden details, too. Logitech has added Easter eggs referencing computing history and open-source milestones, including a “Hello, World!” inscription on the thumb rest. The right mouse button also carries a Special Edition label styled like a code comment.

Underneath the new design, everything works just like the regular MX Master 4. Its thumb rest houses a haptic panel with feedback for actions such as snapping windows, switching desktops, and adjusting sliders. You can customize the feedback and its intensity through Logi Options+.

Windows 11 users also get native haptic feedback for window management and PowerPoint alignment. However, the feature requires the Windows update released at the end of March 2026, along with a firmware update installed through Options+.

The mouse also includes Logitech’s Actions Ring, which opens a circular menu of shortcuts around the cursor when you press the thumb button. According to Logitech, a 2025 study involving 37 MX Master owners found that the feature reduced mouse movements by up to 63%. The actual benefit will depend on which shortcuts you configure.

For scrolling, the MagSpeed wheel switches between a ratcheted mode and free spinning, with the latter reaching speeds of up to 1,000 lines per second. The 8,000 DPI sensor tracks on most surfaces, including glass at least 4 mm thick. Logitech claims the MX Master 4 offers 70 days of battery on a single charge, and the mouse can pair with up to three devices.

Price and availability

The Logitech MX Master 4 Developer (Special) Edition costs $119.99 in the US, €129.99 in Europe, and £119.99 in the UK. Shipping began on October 30, with availability limited to existing stock.
