Casio is adding a new set of watches to its lineup this November with the release of the LOV-26A-1 Seasonal Pair Collection. Created in collaboration with graphic artist Verdy and his streetwear label Girls Don’t Cry, the release marks the 30th anniversary of Casio’s annual paired watch series. The two-watch set is priced at ￥38,500 ($244) in Japan, with a wider global release expected soon based on its current listing on Casio’s international website.
Design Details
The hardware is based on two of Casio’s most recognizable digital watch silhouettes. The G-Shock model uses the DW-5600 as its foundation, while the smaller Baby-G is built on the BGD-565 chassis. Both feature a predominantly black resin construction, though Casio notes the G-Shock specifically uses a bio-based resin for its case and band to reduce environmental impact.
Instead of loud, oversized branding, the design changes are relatively subtle. The Girls Don’t Cry logo is printed directly on both watch faces. On the G-Shock’s band, the logo pattern is applied using a glossy black ink that blends into the matte black strap for a monochromatic look.
The Baby-G takes a slightly more visible approach, using matte white ink for the band pattern. Both models also share a distinct physical design quirk: a small, heart-shaped cutout on the band loop.
Casio has customized the LED backlights and the stainless steel case backs for this release. Pressing the illumination button reveals a butterfly graphic on the LCD panel, pink on the G-Shock and green on the Baby-G.
On the reverse side, the watches feature engravings of Verdy’s original characters, with a Devil on the G-Shock and an Angel on the Baby-G. This is a direct nod to the angel and devil motifs that Casio has traditionally used on its Pair Collection models since 1996.
Internally, these operate as standard Casio digital watches. The G-Shock (48.9 x 42.8 x 13.4 mm, 52g) includes 200-meter water resistance and runs for about five years on a CR2016 battery.
The Baby-G (42.1 x 37.9 x 11.3 mm, 30g) is rated for 100-meter water resistance and gets roughly three years from a CR1616 battery. Both include standard features like a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, multi-function alarms, and flash alerts.
The set ships in custom packaging consisting of two black pouches that can snap together back-to-back, finished with gold-colored heart zipper charms.
