MWC, or Mobile World Congress, is one of the biggest tech shows in the world. The event sees exhibitors from all over the country, showcasing their best products and innovations that they plan to launch by the end of the year. MWC 2024 was all about AI and its integrations with all kinds of consumer devices, right from smartphones to IoT products to laptops. There were booths from big players like Qualcomm and Google’s Android talking about on-device and cloud based LLM models.

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that many of the best products at MWC 2024 this year had some sort of AI functionality built into them. Be it Honor’s new Magic 6 Pro smartphone, or the Magenta AI platform from T-Mobile, AI was practically everywhere.

So here are some of the best MWC 2024 products picked by GIZMOCHINA.

Best Smartphone at MWC 2024: Honor Magic 6 Pro

    Best smartphone mwc 2024

The Honor Magic 6 Pro was the talk of the town at MWC 2024, being one of the first commercial smartphones to integrate on-device LLM on board. The phone ushers in a new technological revolution in the mobile industry by bringing unique features like smart eye tracking, the Magic Portal to practically do anything, and even adding generative AI capabilities right in your hand.

We have already reviewed the phone and loved the experience, you can check out our entire video down below.

With so many unique features on board, it was easy to pick the Honor Magic 6 Pro as the Best Smartphone at MWC 2024.

Best Flip Smartphone at MWC 2024: Nubia Flip 5G

    Best flip phone mwc 2024

Since the flip form factor is the most similar to a conventional smartphone in terms of design, the majority of smartphone manufacturers are giving it a shot. After all, the ability of a traditional smartphone to fold up to half its size clearly has its benefits.

Nubia showcased its first ever flip smartphone at MWC 2024, and one of the biggest highlights of the device is the pricing. At $599, it is one of the cheapest commercial foldable smartphones on the market right now! While you don’t get top notch specs at this price, which is to be expected, the overall design looked solid, the cover display was bright and vibrant, and at this price, I see a lot of customers finally being able to afford a flip foldable.

Best Gaming Peripheral at MWC 2024: Tecno Pocket Go

    Best gaming peripheral mwc 2024

In case you are a gaming enthusiast, Tecno showcased some truly intriguing devices at their exhibit during MWC 2024. Featuring a handheld controller and accompanying AR glasses, the Tecno Pocket Go was one of the standout products. You should not be surprised that we believe this to be one of the coolest gaming peripherals at MWC this year, as I have described the gadget in my hands-on review from yesterday.

The Tecno Mega Mini Gaming Mini PC, a potent PC for users that is liquid cooled, was another intriguing item. We heard about it last year, but it was not until this year that we saw it at the booth. It looked really cool. The game mini PC from Tecno should cost around $1000, but the hardware should be very powerful to make up for that. The item ought to come out sometime in the next few months.

Its worth adding that smaller brands like Blackview and Energizer already have cheaper working flip phones under $400 that are expected to go on sale in the coming months, further reducing the entry point for flip smartphones.

Best Foldable Smartphone at MWC 2024: Honor Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design

    Best foldable mwc 2024

The Honor Magic V2 RSR is one of the most beautiful foldable smartphones in the market today. The phone, designed in collaboration with Porsche Design, brings high quality material, and robost design elements to the already sleek V2 foldable. The phone features a new aerodynamic body design with a sleek sliding side window and better resistant rhinoceros glass. It has an inner 7.92-inch foldable flexible OLED with 2344 x 2156 pixels resolution and an outer 6.43-inch OLED with 2376 x 1060 pixels resolution.

Given that it is one of the well designed foldables of 2024, it was pretty easy to pick the device as the best foldable smartphone at MWC 2024.

Best Innovative Hardware at MWC 2024: Lenovo Transparent Laptop

    Best innovative hardware mwc 2024

Transparent display products have been making it to tech shows for the past few years. This year was no exception, and Lenovo had something really interesting to show off. The brand showcased a working transparent laptop prototype at MWC 2024, featuring a fully transparent top display and a touch screen base with a full fledged touch keyboard. You can also use a stylus in the base, to doodle, highlight text, among other things.

While I am still unsure as to the benefits of transparent displays for viewability, it is good to see that brands have managed to make these displays interactive and smart.

Best Tablet at MWC 2024: Nubia Pad 3D II

    Best tablet mwc 2024

You might think 3D tablets have been long forgotten, but Nubia seems to be adamant on bringing this technology to the market. The company showcased the second-generation version of the Nubia Pad 3D II at MWC 2024, and it comes with a 100% brighter display, an 80% better resolution screen, and an optimized glass-free 3D experience on the tablet.

Nubia said they have optimized 3D crosstalk, 3D color, and 3D power efficiency on the new tablet to offer an even better 3D viewing experience as compared to the earlier version. This does translate into a better real life 3D viewing and interaction experience on the tablet, making it one of the coolest products at MWC 2024 this year.

Best AI Innovation at MWC 2024: Magenta AI

    Best AI Concept mwc 2024

T-Mobile and Deutsche Telecom have come together to create a unique platform called Magenta AI. The platform, which was showcased at MWC 2024, integrates into your smartphone to act as an AI assistant to practically do anything for you.

Magenta AI staff says that it can either be accessed via the cloud, or even integrated into your smartphone via on device LLM. Magenta AI can do any task, be it ordering a gift for your grandmother in a few seconds, expanding an image with generative AI, or even creating a completely new image like a cat eating a pizza in a couple of seconds. During the demo, what was impressive was the speed of the AI capabilities, especially the on device implementation, which had an integrated LLM model.

Concepts like Magenta AI show you what to expect from your smartphones in the coming years. What Honor is doing with smartphones is just one small step into whats coming next. Clearly, most tech brands have plans to bring AI to all of your smartphones in the coming years.
