    Design

The frontal part of these phones is exactly the same. It includes a punch-hole flat display with the punch hole placed centrally and a thicker bezel on the lower part. The screen covers a bit less than 85 percent of the front panel, it is not the highest screen to body ratio, but it is good enough for most of the users out there. The rear sides of these phones are similar, but there is a small difference: the Motorola Moto G73 5G has a smaller camera module and that is the reason why it is my favorite one in terms of aesthetics. Both phones have a water resistant design, but they can only withstand splashes as these are not waterproof phones. Despite having the same display diagonal and the same battery capacity, the Motorola Moto G73 5G is slightly more compact.

    Display

At first glance, it seems like these two phones have the same display, but this is not the truth as there is an important difference between them. We are talking about the resolution, which is the element that determines the level of detail of the displays. The Motorola Moto G73 5G has a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, while the Motorola Moto G53 5G has an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. So the display of the former is way better because it has a higher definition. For the rest, they are pretty much the same: two IPS LCD panels with a diagonal of 6.5 inches and a 120 Hz refresh rate. If you are an expert you probably understood that the presence of an in-display fingerprint reader is impossible on these phones because they have an LCD display: indeed, it is placed on the power key, side-mounted. Both phones feature good stereo speakers and they include a 3.5 mm audio jack.

    Specs & Software

If your goal is to get a better hardware department, then you should go for the Motorola Moto G73 5G without thinking twice. Under the hood, it sports a Dimensity 930 chipset by Mediatek built with a 6 nm production process. It has an octa-core architecture composed of two Cortex A78 cores running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz, as well as six Cortex A55 cores running at 2 GHz. Alongside the chipset, there are 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage you can furtherly expand thanks to the presence of a micro SD slot. The Motorola Moto G53 5G is fueled by the octa-core Snapdragon 480 5G chipset by Qualcomm running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz: it is inferior to the Dimensity 930. It is paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage you can expand with a micro SD. Both phones run Android 13 out of the box, with the same user interface on top.

    Camera

The Motorola Moto G73 5G and the Motorola Moto G53 5G are equipped with two rear cameras and they have the same main camera: a 50 MP sensor with an f/1.8 focal aperture. What changes is the secondary camera: the G73 5G has a pretty good 8 MP ultrawide shooter, while the G53 5G sports a disappointing 2 MP macro lens. The selfie camera is the same 16 MP snapper, but in certain markets, the Motorola Moto G53 5G sports an inferior 8 MP selfie cam.

    Battery

The battery capacities are the same, with 5000 mAh, but the Moto G53 5G should last more because its display has a lower resolution. The Moto G73 5G charges quicker thanks to 30W charging.

    Price

Motorola Moto G73 5G is priced at about $325 / €300, while the Motorola Moto G53 5G is available for about $270 / €250. Which one would you pick?
