At the end of last year, another powerful midrange device was launched by Xiaomi: the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. These two handsets are sold in the same price range, so it will be very interesting to find the differences.     Design

    I like the design of the Motorola Moto G73 5G more than the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. I like it because the rear side is more minimalistic, with a smaller camera module and a more elegant color option. Further, this is a more compact phone thanks to the presence of a smaller display, even though the chin is thicker. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition offers a thinner body and the IP53 certification making it dust resistant and splash resistant. So you can get something more in terms of build quality, even though the Motorola mid-ranger has a water repellent body. Both phones feature a punch-hole display with the hole placed in the central part of the screen.

    The most advanced display is the one found on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. It is a great OLED panel able to show up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 6.67 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, HDR10+ certification, and a peak brightness of 900 nits. The image quality provided is stunning if we consider that this phone is just a mid-ranger. Unfortunately, the Motorola Moto G73 5G has an IPS LCD display, so you should not expect an amazing color reproduction. This display has a diagonal of 6.5 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Both phones feature stereo speakers and a 3.5 mm audio jack for an improved audio experience.

    The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition wins the hardware comparison. First of all, it has a better chipset: we are talking about a Snapdragon 778G SoC by Qualcomm built with a 6 nm production process and running at a max frequency of 2.4 GHz. Further, it offers more RAM: up to 12 GB, paired with up to 256 GB of UFS 2.2 native storage. The Motorola Moto G73 5G is equipped with a Mediatek Dimensity 930 chipset built with a 6 nm production process and running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz. Alongside, the chipset, there are 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage that you can furtherly expand with a micro SD slot. Both phones run Android 13 out of the box, but with different user interfaces on top.

    Camera

    The Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition has the best camera setup: on the rear side, it has a 108 MP main sensor paired with an 8 MP ultrawide shooter and a 2 MP macro camera. With the Motorola Moto G73 5G, you get a less impressive 50 MP main camera, as well as an 8 MP ultrawide lens. Both phones feature a 16 MP selfie snapper.

    Battery

    The batteries of these two phones have the same capacity: 5000 mAh. But the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition is expected to last more on a single charge because it has an OLED display with lower energy consumption. It also charges quicker because it supports 67W fast charging.

    The listing price of the Motorola Moto G73 5G roughly translates to about $327 / €300 in the 8/256 GB configuration, while the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition carries a starting price tag of about $250 / €230, but for the lower-end memory configuration with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
