OnePlus Pad 2 is coming with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, claims tipster

OnePlus is reportedly working on its flagship tablet, the OnePlus Pad 2. In a recent X post by tipster Max Jambor, the tablet’s launch timeframe was revealed. A new update from the brand reveals the chipset that will power the device.

OnePlus Pad 2 features Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (rumored)

According to Jambor, the OnePlus Pad 2 will come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. So far, none of the brands have launched a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered tablet. There are speculations that the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro may also feature the same chipset.

The same device is likely to get rebranded as the OnePlus Pad 2 in the global market.

The inclusion of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset suggests that the OnePlus Pad 2 could be pricier than its predecessor. To recall, the Dimensity 9000-powered OnePlus Pad was priced at 499 euros in Europe and Rs 37,999 (~$455) in India. There’s a possibility that the Pad 2 could be priced at around Rs 45,000 (~$540) in the Indian market. Hopefully, the rumor mill will leak more details about the Pad 2 in the coming days.

AMD Unveils New Ryzen PRO Processors with Zen 4, RDNA 3, and XDNA Architectures

AMD has announced a range of new Ryzen PRO series commercial processors built on a cutting-edge combination of architectures: Zen 4 for CPUs, RDNA 3 for GPUs, and XDNA for NPUs. The lineup caters to both laptops (Ryzen PRO 8040) and desktops (Ryzen PRO 8000), offering a total of 16 processors.

These Processors are riding on AMD’s 4nm manufacturing process and AMD Pro tech

These processors boast significant improvements in performance, power consumption, and AI capabilities. The 4nm manufacturing process and integration of AMD PRO technology contribute to these advancements. Additionally, they support the latest WiFi 7 standard and Bluetooth 5.4 for enhanced connectivity.

AMD Ryzen PRO

The Ryzen PRO 8040 series for laptops is designed to meet the needs of two distinct markets. The HS series caters to content creators and mobile workstation users, offering powerful processors like the Ryzen 9 PRO 8945HS with 8 cores, 16 threads, and a 4.0-5.2GHz clock speed. These HS series processors are capable of handling demanding tasks but come with a higher power consumption rating ranging from 35W to 54W.

If portability is a priority, the U series offers a more energy-efficient option. Processors like the Ryzen 7 PRO 8840U and Ryzen 5 PRO 8640U boast similar core counts and clock speeds as the HS series but have a lower power consumption rating of 15W to 28W. The unique offering in the U series is the Ryzen 5 PRO 8540U, which lacks an NPU unit.

The desktop-focused Ryzen PRO 8000 series comes in two variants: G and GE. Both G and GE series offer Ryzen 7, 5, and 3 processors. Users prioritizing raw performance can opt for the G series, which offers processors like the Ryzen 7 PRO 8700G with 8 cores, 16 threads, and a clock speed of 4.2-5.1GHz. However, the G series comes with a higher power consumption rating of 45W to 65W.

For those seeking a balance between performance and efficiency, the GE series offers a compelling option. These processors, like the Ryzen 5 PRO 8600GE, maintain a similar core count and clock speed as the G series but with a lower power consumption rating of 35W.

OnePlus 11R Solar Red variant for base configuration to release this week

The Solar Red colour on the OnePlus 11R gives the phone a dual-tone look. This is because the half-pill-shaped camera island has a Black shade whereas the rest of the panel has a Red hue. The back panel features a vegan textured leather giving a premium feel. OnePlus says that Solar Red seamlessly blends form and function.

This Solar Red option will be offered on the 8GB + 128GB variant of the OnePlus 11R.  It is already listed on the Amazon website. Only the phone’s pricing remains a mystery which shall be revealed on April 18. OneCarr, ICICI, and HDFC Bank cardholders will be eligible for up to Rs 1,250 instant discount.

The regular colour options of the OnePlus 11R is priced at Rs 39,999. We expect the Solar Red variant to also cost the same. It’s worth noting that the OnePlus 12R debuted globally two months ago. Hence, it doesn’t make sense to go for an older model i.e. the OnePlus 11R. The device has a 120Hz AMOLED display, a triple rear camera headlined by 50MP main sensor, a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC under the hood, and a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 100W charging.
