TCL has officially launched the Note A1 NxtPaper, a digital note-taking device that combines the company’s latest paper-like display technology with AI-powered productivity features. Positioned to rival devices such as the Kindle Scribe, the tablet is now available for pre-order through Kickstarter at an early-bird price of $419. TCL plans to sell the device for $549 when it officially goes on sale at the end of February.

The Note A1 NxtPaper supports the T-Pen Pro stylus, which features dual tips, a built-in eraser, and 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity. TCL claims the stylus delivers under 5ms latency. The tablet supports various document formats and provides handwriting-to-text conversion, formula recognition, and handwriting beautification.

TCL has integrated multiple AI features, including real-time transcription, instant translation, and automatic summarization. The company includes a dedicated ‘Inspiration Space’ to help users organize ideas and notes more effectively. The tablet also supports wireless screen casting, split-screen multitasking, and file transfer through LAN, USB, or cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive.

The Note A1 NxtPaper weighs 500 grams and has a thickness of 5.5mm. TCL uses an aerospace-grade aluminum body to maintain a slim and durable form factor.

LG has brought its UltraGear 27GX790B-B to North America following its China debut. The 27-inch gaming monitor uses LG Display’s 4th Gen Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel.

The monitor’s headline feature is a 720Hz refresh rate. The 720Hz mode requires dropping resolution to 720p. At native 1440p, the refresh rate drops to 540Hz, which is still among the fastest available commercially.

LG equips the 27GX790B with a Primary RGB Tandem WOLED panel designed for competitive gaming, particularly first-person shooters like Counter-Strike 2. Response time measures 0.02ms. The panel delivers 335 nits peak brightness in SDR mode and 1500 nits in HDR, carrying DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification. Color coverage reaches 99.5 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut.

The display includes an adjustable stand with RGB lighting on the back panel. Ports include HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, one USB-C, two USB-A, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

While manufacturers develop prototype displays targeting 1,000Hz refresh rates, current top-tier gaming monitors max out around 540Hz at higher resolutions. The 27GX790B’s dual-mode approach lets users choose between maximum refresh rate and resolution based on their priorities.

The monitor targets esports players who prioritize frame delivery over resolution. The 720p mode’s 720Hz refresh reduces input lag to under 1.4ms per frame, while 1440p at 540Hz maintains 1.85ms frame time. These specifications matter most in competitive scenarios where millisecond differences affect performance.

LG has listed the UltraGear 27GX790B-B at $999.99 on Amazon for US customers. Canadian buyers can preorder the monitor for CA$1,299.99, with deliveries starting January 15, 2026.

Poco will officially unveil the M8 and M8 Pro on January 8, but a Russian retailer (wildberries) has prematurely revealed pricing details for both devices (spotted by YTECHB).

Leaked Pricing

The Poco M8 with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage lists at RUB 26,817 (approximately $340/INR 30,500), while the 512GB variant costs RUB 31,167 ($396/INR 35,500).

The M8 Pro comes with a higher price tag: RUB 36,242 ($460/INR 41,300) for 8GB RAM/256GB storage, and RUB 38,793 ($492/INR 44,200) for 12GB RAM/512GB storage. These figures don’t account for varying international taxes and may differ in other markets.

Poco M8 Specifications

As per the listings, the standard M8 features a 6.77-inch 120Hz curved AMOLED display powered by Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and Android 15-based HyperOS 2. Camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor, 2MP depth sensor, and 20MP front camera. The device packs a 5,520mAh battery supporting 45W fast charging.

Poco M8 Pro Specifications

The Pro model upgrades to a larger 6.83-inch quad-curved AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It runs on Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 with HyperOS 2.

Camera improvements include a 50MP main sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens and 32MP selfie camera. The standout feature is a massive 6,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging. Physical dimensions measure 162.5 x 74.7 x 7.9mm, weighing 207 grams.

Launch Details

OPPO F29 Pro 5G Finally Gets Android 16 x ColorOS 16 Update

OPPO has started rolling out ColorOS 16 based on Android 16 to F29 Pro 5G users in India, with other regions set to follow later. ColorOS 16 features

ColorOS 16 introduces several AI based features. AI Mind Space allows users to record 60 second voice notes by long pressing the Snap Key. These notes are automatically grouped using Smart Collections. With Google Gemini integration, users can ask questions to retrieve saved notes or combine personal content with web search results. The AI Recorder Assistant generates titles and summaries for recordings and reduces background noise, making it useful for lectures, meetings, and interviews.

AI Writer focuses on content creation. It can generate captions for social media images based on the platform and convert text into mind maps or tables to help organize ideas and plans.

The update also adds new cross device features. When an iPhone is connected via Bluetooth, calls, messages, and app notifications can be viewed on the OPPO phone through the OPPO Dialer. Users can mirror their phone screen to a PC using a cable or cloud connection, with support for up to five app windows at the same time.

Performance related changes include the Trinity Engine, which helps maintain stable frame rates during multitasking and gaming, and the Luminous Rendering Engine, which makes system animations smoother.

Camera and editing updates include AI Portrait Glow, Motion Photo Collage, slow motion editing tools, and a built in video editor. Visual changes include Flux Themes, additional home screen options, broader Aqua Dynamics support, and the Luminous Design applied across the system.

Things to keep in mind

OPPO advises users to back up their data before installing the update, as some apps and system functions may not work as expected right after installation. Once the update is complete, the phone will run background optimization processes. During this period, users may notice heating, slower performance, and higher battery usage. Screens flicker during video calls on WhatsApp, Instagram, and other apps on certain models. The team is working urgently to fix this. OnePlus has not specified which models are affected.

Third-Party App Problems

The keyboard overlaps with the navigation bar when using Google Pay because of app compatibility issues. OnePlus reported this to Google.

Facebook comments and posts show incomplete text due to app incompatibility. You can temporarily fix this by swiping the page. A future update will fix it permanently.

B20P02 Update Details

The B20P02 version started rolling out on December 24, 2025. The rollout will finish by January 12, 2026. This update adds faster tool access, storage cleanup options, and better screenshot features.

How to Resize Clock on Flux Themes

You can now resize clocks on Flux themes. Go to Settings, then Home screen, Lock screen & style, then All Flux Themes. Pick a flux theme with a large clock. Hold the drag button and drag the clock edge to change its size. Click Apply when done.

Dreame launches its first router with Wi-Fi 7, 2.5G port, and mesh support

Dreame has officially introduced its first router, the Lingxiao D70, on Tmall. The product supports the Wi-Fi 7 standard and targets users looking for high-speed wireless performance in modern smart homes. The router is listed with a regular price of 399 yuan ($57), while the launch price is set at 299 yuan ($42).

Dreame Lingxiao D70 Specifications

The Lingxiao D70 uses a Wi-Fi 7 BE3600 platform and supports the IEEE 802.11be standard. It delivers a combined wireless speed of up to 3600 Mbps, including 2882 Mbps on the 5GHz band and 688 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. It supports 4K QAM modulation for improved efficiency and faster data transmission when used with compatible Wi-Fi 7 devices.

Dreame has equipped the router with Multi-Link Operation, allowing both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to work simultaneously. The device includes a 2.5G Ethernet WAN port to handle high-speed broadband up to 2000 Mbps and four additional Gigabit LAN ports for wired connections to PCs, consoles, or IPTV boxes.

The router runs on a Qualcomm quad-core Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1.1GHz. It includes 512MB of DDR4 memory and can theoretically support up to 256 connected devices. Dreame has integrated four external omnidirectional antennas and four independent Wi-Fi 7 signal amplifiers to improve coverage across multiple rooms and through walls.

The Lingxiao D70 supports EasyMesh, allowing users to create wired or wireless mesh systems with up to 12 routers. On the software side, the router includes features such as IPv6 support, WPA2 and WPA3 security, smart QoS modes, parental controls, and device management. It also supports IPTV, LED control, scheduled reboots, and mesh role switching.

Dreame has designed the router with a vertical layout to improve heat dissipation. The device uses a large internal heat sink and a rear ventilation system. It measures 201 x 55 x 274.4 mm and comes in a black finish.

Nothing has released a major software update for the Phone (3). The update, with build number B4.0-251224-1229, brings visual improvements, new features, and bug fixes along with the December security patch.

What’s Changed Visually

The battery icon now shows the percentage number inside instead of next to it. Extra dark mode works better across different situations. Volume slider animations are smoother when you adjust volume with the physical keys. The Recorder app’s sound wave and wheel animations run more smoothly.

New Features

You can now set different ringtones for each SIM card if you use dual SIMs. The Always-on Glyph Toy stays on until you turn it off manually instead of timing out.

Bug Fixes

The update fixes an issue where Android Auto displays would freeze when connected to your car. Pocket mode detection for the Glyph Interface is more accurate now. Glyph mirror works more reliably across different camera modes.

Video recording no longer switches back to H.264 encoding when you change shooting modes. It stays on H.265 if that’s what you selected. The Pedometer Progress widget stops animating on the lock screen when Always-on Display is active.

System Improvements

Wi-Fi network searches are faster. Vibration and haptic feedback have been improved in more situations. The lock screen and Always-on Display are more stable. Overall system stability and smoothness have been enhanced.

The update rolls out gradually to users. Nothing uses this staggered approach to watch for problems and make sure the update deploys smoothly across all Phone (3) devices before everyone receives it.

Leaked pricing from Paras Guglani shows the Realme 16 Pro at ₹31,999 (~$355) for 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, ₹33,999 (~$380) for 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, and ₹36,999 (~$410) for 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. The Realme 16 Pro+ is priced higher at ₹39,999 (~$445) for 8GB/128GB, ₹41,999 (~$470) for 8GB/256GB, and ₹44,999 (~$500) for 12GB/256GB.

Both phones come in Master Gold. The Pro+ adds Master Grey and Camellia Pink. The standard Pro gets Pebble Grey and Orchid Purple.

DASUNG Link is a strange way to give your smartphone an e-ink screen

DASUNG Technology is trying something unusual with smartphones, or at least how we look at them.

The Beijing-based company announced a display solution that turns regular phone content into a high-refresh-rate e-ink experience. The device is called Link, and it’s essentially an external 6.7-inch e-ink screen designed to mirror a phone’s display in real time.

And yes, it’s just a screen with a battery to power it up. It has no processor, camera, or any other regular smartphone hardware.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because DASUNG has released a Link device before. This new version is an upgrade over the previous generation, with the company claiming noticeably faster refresh speeds and smoother performance. According to DASUNG, the experience is now close to that of a traditional LCD screen, at least in terms of motion.

e-ink screen that refreshes at 60Hz!

The big change here is DASUNG’s proprietary 60Hz e-ink ultra-high refresh rate technology. E-ink displays are typically limited to static content like books or documents, and even mild animations can look choppy. DASUNG says this new Link can handle more demanding scenarios, including smooth scrolling and even dynamic video playback, while still keeping the core benefits of e-ink.

The screen itself is a 6.7-inch panel with a resolution of 300PPI. Like other e-ink displays, it doesn’t emit light; instead reflects ambient light in a way that resembles paper.

Most importantly, this isn’t an e-ink smartphone. DASUNG describes the Link as an “e-ink screen mobile phone display.” It’s essentially a screen projector for your phone. Rather than running its own processor or software, the device mirrors your smartphone and relies entirely on your phone’s CPU, RAM, and interface. Whatever phone you use, that’s the experience you get, just rendered on an e-ink display.

It’s kinda hard to wrap your head around, so here’s a video of previous-gen DASUNG Link in action. The video also sheds light on its limitations, like it doesn’t pair with the latest versions of Android and iOS.

DASUNG says the Link (Ultra-high refresh rate wireless version) will go on sale on major e-commerce platforms starting January 5, 2026, at 8:00 PM. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet.

Price hikes for Galaxy devices in 2026 seem inevitable as component costs rise

Samsung devices may not stay at current prices for much longer, if recent industry chatter is anything to go by. Reports suggest the company is preparing to raise prices across parts of its smartphone, tablet, and laptop lineup, largely due to rising component costs. Memory prices, in particular, are under pressure as demand from the AI sector continues to surge.

The rapid expansion of generative AI has driven huge demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) used in data centres and AI accelerators. That, in turn, has pushed up prices for more conventional memory chips as well. With supply struggling to keep pace, manufacturers are facing higher bills for RAM-heavy products such as phones, tablets, and laptops.

Memory isn’t the only area seeing cost increases. OLED display panels and advanced camera modules have also become more expensive, while labor costs and marketing spend are rising as competition intensifies. Brands with thinner margins, especially in the mid-range segment, are increasingly passing those costs on to buyers.

In India, Samsung is reportedly considering price hikes of up to ₹2,000 on some Galaxy A-series models. Looking ahead, the Galaxy S26 lineup is also expected to launch at higher prices than the current S25 series. Analysts suggest the broader memory supply situation may not fully ease until closer to 2027.

For now, many current Samsung products are still being sold at discounted prices, particularly during ongoing seasonal sales. Models such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy Watch 8, and Samsung’s OLED TVs are seeing temporary price cuts across several markets.

If the reports hold up, Galaxy fans weighing an upgrade may find the current prices easier to stomach than what comes next.

iQOO phones rumored with 9,000mAh and even 10,000mAh batteries

Chinese smartphone brands continue to push battery capacity to new extremes, and iQOO appears to be next in line. According to a new leak, the Vivo sub-brand is working on phones with batteries far larger than what the current performance-centric devices include.

Well-known Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station hints that iQOO already has a phone in mass production with a battery close to 9,000mAh. More interestingly, another model featuring a 10,000mAh battery is said to be under evaluation. While launch timelines were not mentioned, the leak suggests these devices are part of iQOO’s upcoming roadmap.

The tipster also pointed out how quickly battery sizes are growing across the industry, especially in China. Large-screen phones launching in early 2026 are expected to ship with at least 8,000mAh batteries as standard. Near-flagship models could push towards 9,000mAh, while mid-range devices may go even higher to offer noticeably longer battery life than current premium phones.

For comparison, most global flagships still rely on batteries in the 5,000–6,000mAh range. When asked whether Apple could catch up to this trend anytime soon, Digital Chat Station responded bluntly: “Impossible, absolutely impossible.”

Separately, another leak suggests iQOO is preparing the iQOO 15 Ultra. It’s tipped to launch before the Chinese Spring Festival, likely in late January or early February 2026. The phone is expected to feature a bold new design, gaming shoulder buttons, and an upgraded active cooling fan, said to be the largest and most efficient iQOO has used so far.

While the battery size of the iQOO 15 Ultra hasn’t been confirmed yet, these reports point to a clear shift in priorities. Chinese brands appear willing to trade slim designs for longer battery life and sustained performance, especially for gamers and power users.

Motorola pushes Android 16 beta update for Moto Pad 60 Pro

Motorola has worked on its update rollout speed this year to deliver faster updates to its devices, as the Android 16 update has already dozens of phones and it’s gradually rolling out to the remaining devices. The latest on the list is the Moto Pad 60 Pro, although it’s rolling out as a beta for now.

As spotted by folks at Ytechb, the Android 16 beta update for the Moto Pad 60 Pro comes with the firmware version 17.5.02.026. The update will soon start rolling out to the remaining users. To check for available updates, go to Settings > System updates and tap Check for updates.

To get the updates early, you can sign up for the Motorola Feedback Network (MFN) testing program. Here are the steps to follow:

Create an account on Motorola’s community website (if you haven’t already).
Visit the profile page and update your IMEI or serial number (SN) details.
Opt in for MFN on your Motorola community profile.
Always ensure that your phone is running the latest software.
Go to the MFN Beta Testing Opportunities page to see a testing opportunity for your Motorola device.
Tap on the registration link for your Motorola phone.
Fill in the required details and submit your application.

Keep an eye on your inbox for emails from Motorola about the beta update. Remember to check your spam or junk folder as well, so you don’t miss any important updates.

When you receive the beta update on your Motorola device, take a moment to ensure that your device has sufficient storage and at least 30% battery before tapping the install button. A strong Wi-Fi connection is also recommended, as these major upgrades are bulky in size, over a GB.

At the time of writing this post, we don’t have the update changelog for the Moto Pad 60 Pro, but it should be similar to other Motorola devices that have already received the Android 16 update. So, we don’t expect visual upgrades or major changes, but rather a range of useful enhancements to improve the user experience. This includes Notification cooldown, Custom modes, Flash notification, and the Advanced protection feature. The update also brings improvements to Bluetooth LE audio device compatibility, Wi-Fi connectivity, and device stability.

Xiaomi unveils 140W Desk Charging Station with 2C+2A+4AC ports, PD 3.1 fast charging

Xiaomi has officially announced the Xiaomi Desk Charging Station 140W. The new product adopts a 2C + 2A + 4AC port layout and will launch through crowdfunding on January 7. The suggested retail price is set at 299 yuan ($42), while early backers can purchase it for 249 yuan ($36).

The charging station is designed as a centralized power solution for modern desks. It combines high-speed USB charging and traditional AC outlets in one compact unit. The station features two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, and four AC outlets, allowing users to power a variety of devices simultaneously.

The USB-C1 and USB-C2 ports support up to 140W output individually via PD 3.1 fast charging. This makes the station capable of charging devices such as Apple MacBooks and high-performance Windows laptops at full speed. Xiaomi also supports its own 120W fast-charging standard across the USB-C1, USB-C2, and USB-A1 ports. These ports are backward compatible with multiple Xiaomi charging profiles, including 100W, 90W, 67W, and 33W.

Xiaomi includes a dedicated low-current USB-A2 port, optimized for small accessories like Bluetooth earbuds, smartwatches, and fitness bands. The low current helps protect sensitive devices from overheating and overcharging.

Galaxy S26 Ultra reportedly fixes some known camera issues

Early details around the Galaxy S26 Ultra are starting to surface, and they point to a fairly restrained approach to camera upgrades.

According to the latest leak, Samsung appears to be focusing on refinements rather than pushing new sensors. One area mentioned is lens coating. The company is reportedly working on improved coatings aimed at reducing lens flare and ghosting, particularly when shooting scenes with bright light sources. Similar solutions are already used by rivals such as Vivo and Sony.

Some camera processing tweaks are also said to be in the works. These include adjustments to skin-tone rendering, which has drawn criticism on recent Galaxy models for looking too warm or yellow in some situations. Wider apertures on select lenses have also been rumored, which could help with low-light performance.

That said, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera system doesn’t appear to be getting a major overhaul. Unlike most rivals, there’s no indication of larger and advanced main and telephoto sensors. The quad-camera setup is expected to carry over largely unchanged from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, with the possible exception of the 3x telephoto, which could see a modest sensor upgrade.
