Apple has announced the iPhone Air, a new addition to its smartphone lineup that pushes the limits of thinness and performance. The device measures just 5.64mm thick and weighs 165g, making it the thinnest iPhone Apple has ever produced.

Apple iPhone Air Specifications
It features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 2736×1260 pixels and a pixel density of 460ppi. The screen supports ProMotion with adaptive refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz, HDR, True Tone, and reaches a peak outdoor brightness of 3000 nits. Both the front and back panels are protected by Ceramic Shield 2 for improved scratch resistance and glare reduction.
Apple has powered the iPhone Air with the new A19 Pro chip, which features a 6-core CPU, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. The chipset is built on a 3nm process and enables high performance while maintaining power efficiency. The device also includes the N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity, and the C1X modem, which is faster and 30% more efficient than the one in the iPhone 16 Pro.
iPhone Air runs on iOS 26, which introduces Apple’s new Liquid Glass interface and several Apple Intelligence features. The system supports tools like Clean Up for photo editing, Live Translation, Visual Intelligence for screen-level actions, and Genmoji creation directly from the keyboard. iOS 26 also includes Call Screening, Hold Assist, and a new Apple Games app.

The rear camera system features a 48MP Fusion Main camera with support for 28mm and 35mm focal lengths and a 2x telephoto lens. It uses a quad-pixel sensor with sensor-shift OIS and an updated Photonic Engine. The front camera uses an 18MP Center Stage sensor. The camera software supports features like Dual Capture, Focus Control, and Photonic Engine enhancements, and can shoot 4K60 HDR Dolby Vision video.
Apple claims the redesigned internal architecture allows the iPhone Air to offer up to 27 hours of video playback. The device supports fast charging up to 50% in 30 minutes with a 20W or higher adapter. It also supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging.
iPhone Air includes IP68 water and dust resistance, stereo speakers, Face ID, and an eSIM-only configuration. It features the new Action button and a dedicated Camera Control key. Its titanium frame, made using 80% recycled material, improves durability while keeping the device lightweight.
Pricing and Availability
The iPhone Air is available in four colors: Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue. Pricing starts at $999 for the 256GB model, $1,199 for the 512GB option, and $1,399 for the 1TB variant.
Pre-orders begin on September 12, with sales starting on September 19 in more than 63 countries. The device will expand to additional markets from September 26.
At the event, Apple also launched the Watch Ultra 3 and Watch SE 3 with satellite messaging support and upgraded health features, alongside the AirPods Pro 3, which now include improved active noise cancellation, heart rate tracking, and real-time translation capabilities.
