Xiaomi Smart Camera C500 Unveiled Globally: 3.5K UHD, Night Vision, and Smart Home Integration

Xiaomi has introduced the Smart Camera C500 to the global market, describing it as a “3.5K UHD imaging smart home guardian.”

The camera records at a resolution of 3,200 x 1,800 pixels using a 6MP professional-grade lens with an f/1.6 aperture. It provides 360° horizontal coverage and a 116° vertical viewing angle, powered by a 1/2.45-inch image sensor for enhanced low-light performance. For night vision, the C500 is equipped with eight 940 nm infrared lights, which operate without a visible red glow.

AI-powered detection enables the camera to recognize and track humans and pets. The bidirectional gimbal mount allows it to follow movement and then return to its original position once tracking ends. Notifications are sent to the user when motion is detected. The system supports two-way voice calls, and a physical privacy shutter can be manually or automatically activated.

At the core of the device is Xiaomi’s MJA1 security chipset, which provides financial-grade encryption and secure cloud transfers. The C500 supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (2.4GHz and 5GHz) with Bluetooth 5.0, ensuring lower latency and more stable connections. Storage options include microSD cards up to 256 GB, encrypted cloud storage, and NAS. Video compression is handled by H.265 to reduce file size without compromising quality.

The camera integrates with Xiaomi’s HyperOS Connect for seamless smart home automation. Users can link the device with other Xiaomi products for scenarios such as turning on lights when motion is detected. The C500 is also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for remote control and live video viewing through voice commands.

Measuring 79 x 79 x 119 mm, the white-bodied indoor camera can be placed on a surface or ceiling-mounted. Xiaomi has not yet confirmed the pricing or release schedule for the Smart Camera C500.

The Pro and Edge are expected to run on Samsung’s new 2nm silicon, while the Ultra will stick with TSMC’s 3nm-based Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Region-based variations may still apply, but the Exynos 2600 seems ready for prime time across more markets than before.

Built on Samsung Foundry’s 2nm process, the chip is said to deliver big efficiency and thermal improvements over the Exynos 2500. A key feature is Heat Pass Block (HPB) technology, designed to keep temperatures in check during sustained performance. Early benchmark listings suggest it goes head-to-head with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon and Apple’s A19 Pro in both single-core and multi-core scores—an area where Exynos has often struggled.

TCL has announced its latest Q9M series RGB-Mini LED TVs at the 2025 TCL Mini LED Autumn Launch Event in China. The series includes 65-inch, 75-inch, 85-inch, and 98-inch models. Each model features thousand-level RGB local dimming zones, with the highest configuration reaching 2880 zones on the 98-inch variant.

All models in the Q9M series support 2000 nits of peak XDR brightness, cover 100% of the BT.2020 color gamut, and deliver a native contrast ratio of 7000:1. TCL has equipped the lineup with its fourth-generation RGB-Mini LED backlight system for improved precision in brightness and color accuracy. The display includes a dual-layer anti-reflective coating with light reflectance as low as 0.5% for better visibility in bright environments.

The TVs run on TCL’s Lingxi System 3.0 and are powered by the MediaTek 9655+ chipset. The 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch variants come with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage, while the 98-inch model includes 128GB of storage. It also integrates the Fuxi AI large language model to support smart voice control, content recommendations, and picture optimization.

TCL has priced the Q9M series starting at 7999 yuan ($1,120) for the 65-inch model with 1344 local dimming zones. The 75-inch variant costs 9,999 yuan ($1,400) and includes 1,800 zones, while the 85-inch model is priced at 11,999 yuan ($1,680) with 2,160 zones. The top-end 98-inch version is available for 19999 yuan ($2,800), featuring 2880 dimming zones.

At the event, TCL also introduced two high-end Mini LED TV series. The X11L series debuts as the brand’s new “king of TVs” featuring TCL’s first SQD-Mini LED panel. Alongside it, the Q10M Ultra was announced with RGB-Mini LED technology, offering up to 9000 nits brightness and AI-enhanced picture controls.

Apple has a better alternative to Bluetooth for lossless and latency-free wireless audio

Apple is looking to move past Bluetooth’s limitations with a new wireless protocol that debuts alongside the iPhone 17 series. The feature, called Spatial Relay Audio-Visual Sync (SPR AVS), is designed to deliver lossless audio and near-instant responsiveness across Apple’s devices.

According to reports, SPR AVS keeps latency under 10 milliseconds, a level that makes wireless audio viable even for gaming, video editing, and music production—areas where Bluetooth often struggles. This new protocol also adjusts bandwidth automatically depending on environmental noise or device conditions, which should help maintain a consistent signal.

Beyond audio, the protocol can handle biometric and sensor data, allowing for tighter integration with features like Spatial Audio, AR, and VR applications. Multi-device syncing is supported as well, making it possible to keep sound aligned across headphones, iPhones, and Apple’s Vision Pro headset.

Apple has been laying the groundwork for this move. Earlier this year, the AirPods Max gained support for 24-bit/48 kHz playback via USB-C, but wireless listening was still limited by Bluetooth compression. SPR AVS aims to close that gap, delivering wired-quality playback over a wireless connection.

Bluetooth will continue to serve as the universal option for compatibility, but SPR AVS signals Apple’s intent to push a more advanced in-house standard. Support is starting with the iPhone 17, AirPods Pro 3, and Vision Pro, and will likely expand to Macs and future AirPods models.

If widely adopted, SPR AVS could set a new baseline for wireless audio, forcing rivals to rethink how they approach high-fidelity sound.

Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo Pro: Global Release with Spatial Audio and Anti-Leakage Sound Confirmed

Xiaomi has confirmed that its new pair of open earbuds will soon be sold worldwide. The earbuds were first introduced in June during the Mix Flip 2 and Redmi K80 Ultra launch event in China, where they were called the Open Earphones Pro. Outside China, they will be released as the OpenWear Stereo Pro in beige and grey color options.

The OpenWear Stereo Pro uses an open five-unit acoustic system. It includes a custom 1813 super-large dynamic woofer for bass, a dual dynamic iron tweeter module, and a piezoelectric ceramic driver for higher frequencies. The tuning has been done in partnership with Harman’s Golden Ear team. The earbuds come with multiple EQ presets and support spatial audio along with 360-degree head tracking.

The earbuds have 0.6mm flexible titanium memory wire ear hooks that can handle more than 5,000 bends. They use a liquid silicone shell and a three-point ergonomic fit system. The hooks also have a 45mm deformable length range to better fit different ear shapes.

Since they are open-type earphones, they do not seal the ear canal like in-ear models. This makes them more breathable but can lead to sound leakage. To reduce this, Xiaomi has added an independent anti-leakage sound system that emits reverse-phase sound waves. The system has been certified by China’s National Institute of Metrology.

Other features include Headphone Independent Recording 2.0, which allows direct audio recording even when the case is closed. The earbuds also support Chinese-English real-time translation, gesture controls, IP54 sweat and rain resistance, and multi-device audio streaming.

Battery life is rated at 8.5 hours on a single charge. With the Kona leather-covered charging case, total playback time goes up to 45 hours.

In China, the earbuds were launched for 999 yuan, which is about 140 US dollars. Xiaomi has not yet shared global pricing or release dates.

Samsung pushes One UI 8 rollout for most Galaxy devices to October

Samsung has officially started rolling out its new One UI 8.0 software with the Galaxy S25 lineup, but most Galaxy owners will need to wait a little longer. A newly published schedule from Samsung’s Community Forum in South Korea shows that the update won’t hit the majority of supported devices until October, with some models pushed back even further.

The first wave of devices — the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge — received the update on September 15 in South Korea. A wider release is expected soon, but according to SamMobile, older flagships and mid-range devices won’t see One UI 8 until next month.

October’s rollout will include the Galaxy S24, S23, and S22 series, along with the Galaxy Tab S10 family, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, and popular mid-range options like the Galaxy A36 and A35. Users of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S8 series, as well as entry-level models such as the Galaxy A16 and A15, will have to wait until November.

One UI 8.0, which is based on Android 16, introduces new AI-driven features, multitasking upgrades, and a more refined interface. Samsung appears to be prioritizing its latest flagships first to ensure stability, though the staggered schedule may leave some long-time users frustrated.

While the delays aren’t unusual for a major update across such a large lineup, they come as rivals like Xiaomi or Vivo accelerate their global Android 16 rollout. For Galaxy users, the improvements are coming — but patience will be required.

iPhone Air shows modest gains over iPhone 16 Pro in AnTuTu

Apple’s latest iPhone 17 lineup has only just arrived, but benchmark scores for its new A19 Pro chip are already circulating. The early numbers suggest the processor is capable, though the year-on-year leap isn’t as dramatic as some might have expected.

Initially, the score was thought to belong to the 17 Pro itself, but a later correction from AnTuTu confirmed it actually came from the newly introduced iPhone Air (model iPhone 18,4), which shares the same chip. That detail doesn’t change the takeaway much, but it helps explain some of the differences seen in the breakdown.

The largest gain came in memory performance, where the new models benefit from a jump to 12GB of RAM. That improvement pushed memory scores nearly 50 percent higher, boosting multitasking and background performance. CPU results, on the other hand, dipped slightly compared with the A18 Pro—likely the result of early firmware or thermal limits during testing. Graphics and overall system performance remain steady, pointing to Apple’s focus on efficiency and consistency rather than chasing big benchmark spikes.

Geekbench listings seen earlier this month showed a similar trend: small single-core and multi-core gains, but nothing revolutionary. Apple has also added a vapor chamber to the Pro models, which should help with heat management during sustained gaming or heavy workloads—something that doesn’t always show in synthetic benchmarks.

For most users, the A19 Pro will still feel like one of the fastest chips around, handling AI tasks, demanding apps, and videography with ease. But in raw benchmark terms, this year’s update looks more like evolution than revolution.

TCL has officially launched the Q10M Ultra, its latest flagship RGB-Mini LED television, at the 2025 TCL Mini LED Autumn Launch Event. The new model starts at 27,999 yuan (~$3,920) for the 85-inch variant and is available in three large sizes: 85 inches, 98 inches, and 115 inches.

TCL claims the Q10M Ultra delivers the industry’s highest color gamut, achieving 100% coverage of the BT.2020 standard.

The television uses TCL’s proprietary Crystal High Color Resist Layer and Super Butterfly HuaYao screen technology. This combination allows for deeper color reproduction, better light uniformity, and reduced reflection, with panel reflectance as low as 0.5%. The Q10M Ultra also supports XDR and reaches a peak brightness of 9000 nits.

Other key details include the Leica branding and LED flash module.

The secondary screen will likely display crucial details like time, notifications, and even function as a camera viewfinder. To recall, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra also featured a similar screen on the rear camera module, but it was a lot smaller in size. Qualcomm just confirmed the name of its next flagship chip, which is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, that will likely power the upcoming Xiaomi 17 series.

TCL crowns a new “king of TVs” with the X11L series and its first SQD-Mini LED panel

TCL has officially launched its X11L series of high-end televisions at its 2025 Mini LED TV autumn event in China. The company is calling the new lineup its “king of TVs,” and it introduces a new display technology called SQD-Mini LED.

The X11L series includes three sizes: a 75-inch version priced at 19,999 yuan (approx. $2,800), an 85-inch model at 34,999 yuan (approx. $4,900) with 14,400 dimming zones, and a 98-inch variant priced at 59,999 yuan (approx. $8,400) featuring 20,736 local dimming zones. TCL claims this is the highest number of zones ever used in a Mini LED TV.

The flagship 98-inch model features a 4K display that supports peak brightness up to 10,000 nits with XDR-level HDR performance. The TV supports multiple HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and IMAX Enhanced.

The display uses TCL’s new SQD-Mini LED technology, which separates sub-pixel colors more effectively than RGB-Mini LED, allowing the panel to avoid color fringing and achieve a thinner profile. The panel also uses a new butterfly-wing LCD structure with anti-reflection coatings and maintains a native contrast ratio beyond typical IPS panels. Viewing angles reach over 178 degrees.

Oppo will kick off first sales for the F31 Pro models on 19th September 2025, with the vanilla F31 arriving on September 27. These budget phones will sell via Amazon India, Flipkart, the brand’s official website, and various offline retail stores. Qualcomm confirms its next flagship isn’t Snapdragon 8 Elite 2

So the rumors were right. Qualcomm is renaming its next flagship chip to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. 

By logic, the follow-up to the Snapdragon 8 Elite should’ve been called the 8 Elite 2, but Qualcomm is framing this as a more logical step in its branding. And the reasoning is about what you’d expect.

According to the company, “Since we adopted a new single-digit naming system and visual identity, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 represents the fifth generation of the Snapdragon 8 series flagship mobile platform. By using the ‘fifth generation’ designation, we not only reinforce the platform’s leadership but also simplify consumers’ understanding of our product roadmap.”

The math checks out. The four previous flagships were the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 8 Gen 2, 8 Gen 3, and the 8 Elite (which Qualcomm now counts as the fourth entry).

On the technical side, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is expected to bring Qualcomm’s second-generation custom Oryon CPU cores. That includes two prime cores clocked at 4.61GHz and six performance cores at 3.63GHz. For graphics, it’s paired with an Adreno 840 GPU running at 1.2GHz.

The chip reportedly scores between 4.20 and 4.40 million points on AnTuTu v11. Qualcomm will officially unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 at its Snapdragon Summit on September 22nd.

Xiaomi isn’t wasting any time. Right after Qualcomm’s announcement, the company confirmed it will launch its new flagship phones powered by the chip later this month. The device will also mark a rebrand for the company’s lineup, shifting from the Xiaomi 16 series to the Xiaomi 17 series.
