Moto E7 Plus packs a Snapdragon 460 processor and 48MP dual cameras for €149

The Motorola Moto E7 Plus is a new budget smartphone from the Lenovo-owned company. The phone was expected to launch today but Motorola skipped its announcement. Nevertheless, its specs and price have been published on the web.

Moto E7 Plus

The Moto E7 Plus has a 6.5-inch LCD display with a 1600 x 720 resolution and a waterdrop notch at the top for the selfie camera. Just as we have seen on a number of budget mid-range phones announced in the past few weeks, this also features a Snapdragon 460 processor according to the German blog, Winfuture, and it is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. If you need more storage, there is a MicroSD card slot available.

There are two cameras on the back of the Moto E7 Plus and they are housed in a square housing with rounded corners along with an LED flash that sits above the sensors. The primary camera is a 48MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and it is paired with a 2MP depth sensor. Up in front is an 8MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture.

The Moto E7 Plus has a 5000mAh battery which is sort of the standard battery capacity for mid-range phones these days. Unfortunately, while you should get up to 2 days of usage, you will not be able to quickly top up the battery when you are running low as the phone only supports 10W charging. Another letdown is that it has a MicroUSB port.

The phone has its SIM tray on the left side and has support for Dual SIM. There is also an audio jack at the top of the phone. The Moto E7 Plus ships with Android 10 out of the box with Motorola’s My UX interface and Moto Actions.

POCO X3 NFC vs Redmi Note 9 Pro vs Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite: Specs Comparison

Xiaomi just came up with a device that is already considered by a lot of people the smartphone with the highest value for money of 2020: the POCO X3 NFC. With this handset, you get much at a very affordable price. It just launched in the global market, where several Xiaomi budget phones are actually among the best-sellers of the year. Is the new POCO X3 NFC better than every other Xiaomi phone in terms of value for money? Why is it so affordable? It is really the best deal or there are hidden compromises to face? We will try to answer these questions in this comparison between POCO X3 NFC, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite, and Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Design

At a first glance you would not say that Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite is the most premium device of this trio because of its waterdrop notch, since its two rivals come with more modern punch-hole display. But the truth is that Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite is more compact and it is also made with more premium materials, including a glass back protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and an aluminum frame. With the POCO X3 NFC, you get an aluminum frame but a plastic back, while the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a glass back and a plastic frame. That is why Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite wins the design comparison. But you should note that POCO X3 NFC is splash-proof with the IP53 certification.

Display

Do you prefer having an AMOLED display with a standard refresh rate or an IPS panel with a high 120 Hz refresh rate? If you need a better image quality, then you should go for the HDR10 display of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite coming with the AMOLED technology. If you need a smoother viewing experience because you are a gamer or you just like smoothness, choose the POCO X3 NFC, but you will get an inferior image quality. Redmi Note 9 Pro is pretty disappointing since it sports a classic IPS display with a standard refresh rate. Note that Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite has a smaller display than its two opponents (6.47 inches vs 6.67 inches).

Hardware/Software

The most advanced chipset belongs to the POCO X3 NFC: we are talking about the Snapdragon 730G which is actually an upgrade of the Snapdragon 730G found on the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite. But there is something to specify: the differences between Snapdragon 730G and 732G are not big, and the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite offers a higher amount of RAM in its most advanced configuration (8 GB vs 6 GB). That is why Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite looks a more interesting choice. We discard the Redmi Note 9 Pro since it comes with a weaker Snapdragon 720G and max 6 GB of RAM. Android 10 is installed out of the box, but only with the POCO X3 NFC you get the MIUI 12 directly.

Camera

With the POCO X3 NFC, you get a slightly better camera experience because it has a better ultrawide sensor with a 13 MP resolution. But its macro camera is inferior with a 2 MP resolution. The differences between the cameras of POCO X3 NFC, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite, and Redmi Note 9 Pro are just marginal and in each case, we are talking about midrange camera phones.

Battery

The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite provides both the biggest battery and the longest battery life because it features a more efficient and smaller AMOLED display. Right after, despite its smaller battery than POCO X3 NFC, there should be Redmi Note 9 Pro because it comes with a standard refresh rate. But the POCO X3 NFC is still a great battery phone.

Price

POCO X3 NFC carries a starting price of just €229/$270 (€199 for the first day) in the global market and it has the best value for the money. But the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite is my favorite one because of its AMOLED display, more premium design, and a bigger battery. However, you have to spend almost €300/$353 to get it. With the POCO X3 NFC around, there is no reason to buy a Redmi Note 9 Pro with the actual prices ranging between €220/$260 and €230/$270, so you should wait for its price to drop if you are interested in it.

How the Xbox Series S is different from the Xbox Series X internally

Microsoft has announced the prices of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S gaming consoles. While we already know the series S is the cheaper and smaller model, there are other differences under the hood that explain the $200 difference between the two next-gen consoles.

Xbox Series S versus Xbox Series X

The two consoles differ in processing power, GPU, RAM, and storage which we have highlighted in the table below:

ParametersXbox Series SXbox Series X
CPU3.6GHz AMD Zen 2 CPU3.8GHz AMD Zen 2 CPU
GPUAMD RDNA 2 GPU 20 CUs clocked at 1.565GHzAMD RDNA 2 GPU 52 CUs clocked at 1.825GHz

Expansion CardSupport for 1TB expansion cardSupport for 1TB expansion card
Output1440p @60fps, up to 120fps4K @ 60fps, up to 120fps
Disc DriveNo drive4K UHD Blu-ray

As you can see, the Xbox Series X is significantly more powerful. Its processor is clocked higher, it has triple the GPU power of the Series S, and also has 6GB more RAM. On top of that, you get double the storage, it outputs 4K, and you also have the option of using physical discs. That sure is worth the extra $200 you are paying.

That is not to say the Xbox Series S is not a good buy. It is actually a great console especially if you are on a budget. Not everyone has a 4K TV and 1440p is pretty great. Let’s not forget that the framerate goes up to 120fps. Microsoft has also revealed that it has Quick Resume so you can switch easily between games, and if 512GB isn’t enough, you can add up to an additional 1TB via an expansion slot.

The Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X go on pre-order on September 22 and will be announced on November 10. Do let us know in the comment box which of the two consoles you will be getting.

Xiaomi Mi TV Speaker Theater Edition comes with a separate subwoofer

Xiaomi‘s Mi TV Speaker was first released in 2018 and the product was well received. The speaker featured a minimalistic design and is equipped with built-in 8 sound units and this includes two 20-ball dome tweeters, two 2.5-inch subwoofers and four passive radiators. The Chinese tech giant has now launched a new Mi TV Speaker Theatre Edition which has a separate subwoofer that isn’t built into the speaker. Xiaomi Mi TV Speaker Theater Edition

The Mi TV Speaker Theatre Edition is equipped with five sound units which include two full-range speakers, two tweeters and the separate 6.5-inch subwoofer. Though the Redmi K30 5G and Mi 10 Youth Edition launched six months apart from each other, they are shipped with MIUI 11 based on Android 10. Both these smartphones are limited to China and they have even received MIUI 12 stable update.

Since they are part of MIUI weekly builds program, these two devices have been receiving MIUI 12 Beta builds since the day of the announcement. Now, starting today’s build (20.9.9), the update for these handsets will be based on Android 11, according to a Telegram channel called @xiaomiui (via PiunikaWeb).

This makes them the fifth and sixth smartphone respectively to receive MIUI weekly builds based on Android 11 after Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, Redmi K30 Pro, and Mi CC9 Pro.

Anyway, it is worth noting that the stable rollout for these newly added mid-range devices may take time. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 2020 flagship phones (initial three handsets in the list)  should be getting the stable update first in the coming days.

Microsoft confirms the Xbox Series S, the smallest Xbox console yet (UPDATE- Release Date)

UPDATE: Release Date – Microsoft has officially confirmed that the XboxSeries X and the Xbox Series S will be launched on November 10.  The consoles can be pre-ordered starting from September 22. The price of the Xbox Series S has already been revealed to be $299. The company has no announced that the top-end Xbox Series X will retail for $499.

The original story continues below.

Microsoft has been rumoured for quite a while to be working on a smaller and more affordable Xbox console. The company has now confirmed that it has got the console known as Xbox Series S in the works.

In a tweet, Microsoft describes the Series S as offering “next-gen performance in the smallest Xbox ever”. It also disclosed that the console will retail for $299 which is similar to the leaked price. The console will be sold in the UK for £249.99.

Further, the tweet also contained renders of the Xbox S giving us a better look at the device than the first leaked picture. The picture shows the device will have a thin build and won’t have a disc drive. The image shows the console in an upright position but from the logo, we can figure that it will still use the traditional horizontal orientation unlike Sony’s PS5.

An earlier rumour by Windows Central says both the Series X and Series S will launch on November 10th, with the previously announced high-end Series X selling for $499. As previously reported by The Verge, the Series S (codenamed Lockhart) is designed to play next-gen games in a smaller, cheaper package with less GPU power and lower resolution output than the Series X. The console is expected to come with 1440p support, ray tracing, and 512GB SSD.

Microsoft didn’t reveal further details instead, it hinted that more information will be shared “soon.”

POCOPHONE F1 aka POCO F1 is one of the most popular smartphones in recent years. It launched with MIUI 9 based on Android Oreo in 2018. It was later updated to MIUI 10 and MIUI 11. The underlying Android version was also updated to Android Pie as well as Android 10. Now, it has also begun to receive MIUI 12.

POCOPHONE F1 photo

MIUI 12 is the latest version of Xiaomi’s mobile software. The company unveiled it back in April and since then, it has been rolling out beta and stable builds to a large number of eligible handsets worldwide.

Since POCO F1 is a two-year-old device, the update for it comes late. The MIUI builds are available in two flavors for this handset  – Global and Russia. Currently, MIUI 12 update is only available in the former channel with build number V12.0.1.0.QEJMIXM. Xiaomi is yet to roll out the latter variant of this update.

The update is being seeded out to select users globally. It will be rolled out to more users in the coming days if the early adopters don’t face any issues .
