Smartisan Nut Pro 3 renders leak; to come in green and white

The photo was posted today on Weibo by @Reviewer_小康. The photo is a press render but not a high-resolution image. It confirms the Nut Pro 3 will have a waterdrop notch just as earlier reported in the spec sheet leak. The phone’s 48MP quad-camera setup is positioned at the top left side.

Smartisan Nut Pro 3 render

Smartisan will launch the phone in three colors. There will be a green variant in addition to black and white variants. The red Smartisan hammer logo is visible at the bottom of the phone and if you look closely, you will see Smartisan is sticking to its trademark circular buttons.

On the back is a 48MP sensor paired with a 13MP ultrawide angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera, and a 5MP macro camera. It will have a 4000mAh battery capacity with support for 18W fast charging.

The phone will be announced in Beijing on Thursday, October 31.

Sharp is Developing a wide variety of Foldable Smartphones

Last week, Gizmochina reported that Sharp is working on a couple of tablet-like game consoles with magnetically attachable physical controls. Now, the company has patented a wide variety of foldable smartphones which once launched would take on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X and Royole Flexpai. The patent set includes five different devices, each of which, at least has one distinguishing feature.

The first device in the list has a clamshell design with negligible bezels. Dissimilar to the foldable smartphone that Sharp showcased earlier this year, this device lacks any obstruction causing notch which will provide for an immersive viewing experience. The hinge on the smartphone is present right in the middle which will allow it to shrink into a considerably smaller package. While the device lacks any camera sensors, it is expected to undergo some design changes ahead of its launch.

The second device looks very similar to the first one, however, it features a wide notch up top that accommodates the earpiece receiver. Unfortunately, the patent is not thoroughly detailed, therefore, it is hard to divulge whether the notch will be present on the front or rear side of such a smartphone.

The third device is clearly the most distinctive out of the bunch. It features a wide slot to insert a debit/credit card, accordingly, this handset could double up as a payment terminal. Even though this illustration seems similar to the first one accrediting to an edge-to-edge display, it is not the case. Unlike the first device, this one could fold both ways i.e inside and outside.

At number four is a device that looks like a combination of a fitness band and smartphone. Due to its form factor, the user would be able to strap it around their wrist which seems to have a similar approach to previously launched Nubia Alpha. Besides, like the number two device, this handset also has a wide earpiece receiver up top. Going by the illustrations, the width of the band seems quite thick and Sharp will have to chisel some of its thickness before such a device could turn into a reality.

Lastly, Sharp has patented two other foldable smartphones that seem to have a focus on gaming. Both of the said devices look identical with a hinge that allows them to be folded into half. The first device has square corners, in contrast, the second one has rounded. The device looks identical to a Sony PSP or similar game consoles with a landscape display that is flanked by controls on either side. But, in this case, the controls are on-screen rather than physical buttons.

To wrap things up, Sharp with the investment it has received from Foxconn seems to be working towards diversifying its portfolio of products, beyond manufacturing display panels for TVs and Smartphones. Having said that, we cannot predict if any of these devices will see the light of the day or not. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope Sharp brings at least one of these devices to life.

Mijia releases its own Xiaomi Watch press render

We already know what the Xiaomi Watch looks like thanks to an official render released by the company’s CEO, Lei Jun and also a live photo that leaked afterward. A new official render has now surfaced and it was posted on Weibo by the official Mijia account.

The render shows us the Xiaomi Watch in the two colors it will be available in – Elegant Black and Plated Silver. We also get a clear look at the crown, the side/power button, the microphones (primary and noise-canceling), and the slit for the speaker. We are not sure but we have a feeling the watch’s case is made of aluminum to keep the price down. However, we won’t be surprised if there is a ceramic version as Xiaomi isn’t new to using ceramic.

Xiaomi Watch render

Unlike the render leaked by Lei Jun which showed just the lockscreen, this new render shows two new watch faces. The watch face on the silver version shows the watch will be able to track cycling and also measure your heart rate while the watch face on the black version show the calories burnt.

There is a lot we already know about the Xiaomi Watch such as it being powered by a Snapdragon 3100 processor, having an eSIM, NFC, GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth. However, there are other details we do not know if the rumors about it running a custom version of WearOS is true. It will also be nice to know how much it will cost and if it will be available outside China.

Xiaomi’s upcoming smartwatch to feature Snapdragon 3100 chipset confirms teaser

Earlier this week, Xiaomi confirmed that it will launch the Mi CC9 Pro and its very first Wear OS-powered smartwatch on the 5th of November. While the company had previously revealed some of its key features, details about its chipset were unavailable until now. According to a freshly shared teaser on Weibo, the device will be equipped with Snapdragon 3100 SoC which is designed and developed by the American chipmaker, Qualcomm.

According to the product page on the company’s website, the Snapdragon Wear 3100 consists of a 4x ARM Cortex A7, 32 bit Quad-core CPU which is clocked at 1.2 GHz and Adreno 304 GPU.

While Xiaomi had already confirmed its smartwatch will support NFC, the chipset’s spec sheet reveals it is equipped with Bluetooth 4.2 and low power 802.11n Wi-Fi and GPS which are destined to make their way on the upcoming wearable.

To recall its previously confirmed features, the Xiaomi smartwatch will have eSIM card support, loudspeaker, a large battery and a linear motor for providing haptic feedback. All in all, the device seems like a worthy entrant in the smart wearable market and if Xiaomi manages to offer it’s at an aggressive price, it could become one of the best selling wearables like the Mi Band 4.

Vivo S5 officially teased; Launching in November?

Recent reports have revealed that the next S-series phone from Vivo could be called Vivo S5. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has officially teased the arrival of Vivo S5 by releasing a teaser video and a poster. Based on the recent reports it can be said that it could be the first phone to arrive with diamond-shaped quad camera system.

The teasers reveal that like the Vivo S1 and Vivo S1 Pro smartphones, the upcoming Vivo S5 will be arriving in vibrant colors. This indicates that the Vivo S5 could be targeted towards younger audience in China.

Not long ago, Vivo S-lineup brand ambassador Cai Xukun was spotted holding the upcoming S-series smartphone in a promo video for a fashion magazine. The rear side of the phone appeared pinkish towards the left and right edges while center portion look bluish. The video revealed that the Vivo S5 has a 3.5mm audio jack on its top edge and it has a diamond-shaped quad camera setup on its back. It appears that the phone is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint reader.

Purported Vivo S5

At present, there is no information on the specifications of the Vivo S5 smartphone. It could be packed with mid-range phones. Probably, the company will be unleashing the Vivo S5 in November. Hopefully, its entire specifications will be revealed through its TENAA certification in the coming days.

In related news, Vivo is also gearing up to launch the Vivo X30 5G smartphone. It is speculated that the phone will be announced in partnership with Samsung. The device is expected to be powered by the Exynos 980 chipset. The said SoC is equipped with a 5G modem that will bring about NSA and SA networks. The launch event for the phone could be held on Nov. 7.

The detailed specs of the phone are currently under the wraps. Reports surrounding it have suggested that it could be featuring a waterfall display with an in-screen fingerpint reader. It may also house a pop-up selfie camera like the predecessor Vivo X27 smartphone. The rear side of the phone features a triple camera system.

Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro will have a dual Curved display & Waterdrop notch but may lack 5G support

After the Mi CC9 Pro hit TENAA earlier today, we knew that the phone would come with a slightly curved display with a notch on top. Now, Xiaomi has officially released a render of the CC9 Pro and it flaunts dual-curved display on both the side. We also get a glimpse of the waterdrop notch on top of the phone along with the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom.

xiaomi teases curved display cc9 pro

According to the TENAA listing, the Mi CC9 Pro will be quite thick measuring 9.67mm. But even such a thick form factor won’t stop the large 108MP penta-camera setup from protruding from the body. As you can see in the images below, even the wide-angle camera (the large lens below the triple cameras) sticks out. The plus side of such a thick body is that it can house a really large 5170mAh battery inside which combined with Snapdragon 730G (processor is yet to be confirmed) should easily offer more than a day’s battery life.

Given the processor inside, the Mi CC9 Pro shouldn’t be a flagship model. So, according to a blogger in China, it won’t have 5G support, unlike the recently launched Mi 9 Pro 5G. He also said that the phone won’t have a high refresh rate display either. Given that a lot of smartphones have started to use at least a 90Hz screen (sometimes even 120Hz), this is a bit disappointing.

Blogger comment on 5G support for Mi CC9 Pro

However, if the 108MP penta-camera module performs really well (full camera specs here), the lack of 5G support or a 90Hz screen won’t really matter.

Note that, internationally, the Mi CC9 Pro could be sold as the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro.

In less than 24 hours of launch, replicas of Apple AirPods Pro surface online

After numerous leaks, Apple has finally launched the long-awaited AirPods Pro that supports active noise cancellation. Not even 24 hours have passed since their official unveiling and Chinese replicas have already started appearing. One such example is the Vpods Pro that is available for purchase on Giztop.

In comparison to the original AirPods Pro that is priced at $249, the Vpods Pro is much more affordable at just $39.99. They have an in-ear style design with silicone buds and an elongated stem that accommodates two charging pin connectors. The charging/resting case features a soft close flap and three LED indicators that represent their remaining charge.

While these don’t look exactly identical to the originals, we know where the name was derived from. Despite having a disparate design, naming it this way would allow them to stand apart from the bunch which would ideally result in sales boost.

Having said that, according to a known tipster, the production of exact replicas of the AirPods Pro has also started in China and they will soon be available for purchase. The tweet shared above exhibits a pair of TWS that is made out of white plastic and looks homogenous to the latest audio accessory from Apple.

In the past, Chinese manufacturers have managed to replicate AirPods that not only look precisely like the originals but they also support the quick connect feature despite lack of an Apple certified H1 chip. It will be interesting to see, to what extent can the AirPods Pro be replicated. Will, they also support ANC (active noise cancellation) which is the key highlighting feature of the originals.

To get answers to all these questions and learn about their price, we will have to wait until they are listed on sites like Aliexpress or Youtube videos surface.
