Acer has introduced a new range of Nitro and Swift laptops globally. These new laptops will come equipped with AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors and will be available to buy in the coming months. These new laptops are called the Acer Nitro 16, Nitro 17, and Swift Go 14.

While the Nitro laptops are equipped with features to take on modern gaming titles, the Acer Swift Go 14 is more suited for streaming video content and professional use. Let’s take a closer look at these machines and find out what they bring to the table.

Acer Nitro 16, Nitro 17 specs

The Nitro 16 and Nitro 17 laptops both boast powerful specifications, starting with their display. The Nitro 16 has a 16-inch screen with a high 165Hz refresh rate and 100% sRGB color gamut, and an impressive 84% screen-to-body ratio. The Nitro 17, on the other hand, features a larger 17.3-inch screen with a choice between FHD or QHD resolutions, also with a 165Hz refresh rate. Both models are powered by cutting-edge AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs, with the ability to upgrade to 32GB DDR5 RAM and a 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSD. The Acer Nitro 16, Nitro 17, and Swift Go 14 laptops have been announced for various regions like North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, and China. The Indian availability date is yet to be announced, however, other above-mentioned regions will get these devices starting May 2023. The Indian price tags are currently under wraps, however, the North American pricing has been announced. The Nitro 16 starts at $1,149.99 in North America, and the Nitro 17 starts at $1,199.99. Swift Go 14 prices begin at $849.99.

During the CES 2023 event, Acer unveiled two new models from its popular Nitro series of gaming laptops earlier today (4th January 2023). These are the latest additions in the Nitro lineup and features latest gen technology like 13th Gen Intel CPUs and Nvidia RTX 40 series GPUs. So let’s have a look at the two models.

Acer Nitro 16

Talking about the smaller variant first, the Nitro 16 (AN16-51) gaming laptop sports a 16 inch WUXGA or WQXGA display, which has a 5 percent larger screen real estate than the previous generation. Furthermore, the display also offers 165Hz high refresh rate that supports NVIDIA Advanced Optimus for seamless switching between integrated and the discrete graphics card. Being a gaming laptop, the new Nitro 16 also offers a 4 zone RGB backlit keyboard while also offering a 100 percent sRGB color gamut support.

Acer Nitro 17

The Nitro 17 is the more expensive models between the two new gaming laptops. As the name suggests, it sports a taller 17.3 inch display that comes with multiple display option. This includes a FHD resolution with either 144Hz or 165Hz refresh rate or a QHD display with a 165Hz refresh rate. This model also offers a large touchpad and a high screen to body ratio of 81 percent. This gaming laptop offers a 4 zone RGB backlit keyboard as well.

Apart from the larger display and size, both laptops feature much of the same internal layout and design. The Nitro 16 and Nitro 17 feature a dual fan design that is complimented with four fan outlets with two located on the sides and two on the rear.

The NitroSense software and NitroSense key, which enables users to control and adjust the fan speed and power performance as well. Each laptop comes with an HD camera, two microphones, and two speakers with DTS:X Ultra audio. They also come with an array of ports like HDMI 2.1, microSD card reader, two Thunderbolt 4, three USB 3.2 Gen 2, and a power delivery port.

Pricing & Availability

The Acer Nitro 16 will be available in North America in May 2023 for a price tag of 1,199.99 US Dollars. On the other hand, it will also go on sale in China and in EMEA regions in May as well for a price tag of 6,599 Yuan (roughly 958 US Dollars) and 1,499 Euros (roughly 1,588 US Dollars) respectively. Lastly, the Acer Nitro 17 will also go on sale in North American and EMEA markets in May 2023, with a price tag of 1,199.99 US Dollars and 1,599 Euros (roughly 1,693 US Dollars) respectively.
