Apple unveiled the iPhone SE 2020 smartphone last month. It debuted as the cheapest phone in the company’s current lineup. The sale of the smartphone did not start immediately in India after its launch. Now that the COVID-19 lockdown has been relaxed in some regions across India, Apple is now gearing up to begin the sales of the iPhone SE 2020 in the country. Indian retailer site Flipkart now has a landing page for the iPhone SE 2020. The listing reveals that the iPhone SE 2020 sales will bring from May 20.

iPhone SE 2020 price in India and launch offers

The iPhone SE 2020 can be bought in India in three storage versions such as 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. They are priced at Rs. 42,500 (~$563), Rs. 47,800 (~$633), and Rs. 58,300 (~$772), respectively. The first sale will start at noon (local time) on May 20. The handset will be available in color variants like black, white, and red.

Customers can avail Rs. 3,600 (~$48) instant discount on HDFC Bank cards and EasyEMI. This effectively reduces the price of the base model to Rs. 38,900 (~$515). It is not clear whether Rs. 3,600 discount will be also available for customers of 128 GB and 256 GB storage variants.

iPhone SE 2020 specifications

The iPhone SE 2020 has a 4.7-inch display that supports 750 x 1334 pixels. The chin of the device has a Touch ID sensor. The handset runs on iOS 13 and it is driven by Apple A13 Bionic chipset and 3 GB of RAM.

There is a 7-megapixel front camera on the iPhone SE 2020. The back panel of the device is fitted with an OIS equipped with a 12-megapixel camera along with an LED flash. The handset has a 1,821mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging and Qi wireless charging.

Reportedly, Apple has reached out to TSMC to increase the production of its A13 processor as the demand for the iPhone 11 was higher than previously predicted. The report arrives after the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro were well received in the Chinese with a healthy sales number.

Bloomberg, a reporting agency, published the news and stated that the iPhone 11 series is “outperforming the market and Apple’s expectations.” In other words, the Cupertino based tech giant has to raise production capacity for its smartphone to keep up with high demands. TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) is a major manufacturer of PC and mobile processors. It is also a known brand that supplies Apple’s A13 chipsets used in its iPhone 11 lineup.

Furthermore, another major reason for Apple bumping up the production of its proprietary chipset also ties in with an upcoming affordable iPhone model. It is reported that the device will feature a design similar to that of the iPhone 8 but with the newer and faster A13 processor. Unfortunately, it has yet to be officially confirmed but the iPhone 8 was one of the best selling iPhones in recent years due to its lower price tag, so it is likely to be the case.

Later this year, Apple will also be unveiling its 2020 iPhone lineup which will arrive with the new generation of processor, likely the A14 SoC (systems on a chip). The production for this next generation chipset will start sometime in the second quarter of 2020 and will be on the new 5nm process. The A13 was manufactured on a 7nm process, meaning that the newer iteration should be more powerful and energy efficient.

Analysts have claimed that the iPhone 11 series is performing better than what was originally predicted. The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max currently account for about 69 percent of all iPhones sold in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The iPhone 9 is expected to measure around 138.5 x 67.4 x 7.8mm. At the camera bump, its thickness may increase to 8.6mm. The renders of the smartphone show that it has thick bezels above and below its 4.7-inch display. Instead of the super Retina XDR OLED displays found on the new iPhones, the iPhone 9 may feature a Liquid Retina LCD screen.

The iPhone 9 is likely to offer an aspect ratio of 16:9. The chin of the device features the good old Touch ID sensor. This suggests that the smartphone won’t be equipped with the advanced Face ID biometric recognition feature.

The first generation of the Apple iPhone SE introduced back in 2016 was designed on the frame of the iPhone 5s using the specifications of the iPhone 6s. Ming-Chi Kuo from TF Securities analyst has claimed that the smartphone will be priced at $399.

Kuo believes the SE 2 will arrest Apple’s faltering sales in 2020. He estimates suppliers selling anywhere between 2 and 4 million devices every month with a total of 30 million devices sold at the end of 2020.

The iPhone 11 series are scheduled to be unveiled on September 10 in Cupertino. Just like last year, the American company will announce three models. Specs of the three Apple phones have now leaked.

The three models are the iPhone 11 which succeeds the iPhone XR, and the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max which are successors to the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max respectively.

iPhone 11

The iPhone 11 will come with an LCD display just like the iPhone XR. The screen size remains 6.1-inches and the resolution is also unchanged at 1792 x 828 with a 326 PPI. The phone will have FaceID but not 3D Touch.

The iPhone 11 will be powered by the new Apple A13 chipset which will be paired with 4GB of RAM. With respect to cameras, the iPhone 11 will come with a 12MP front-facing camera and dual rear cameras whose configurations are not mentioned.

It will also have support for reverse-wireless charging and Wi-Fi 6.

iPhone 11 Pro

The iPhone 11 Pro will have a smaller 5.8-inch display but an OLED type with a 2346 x 1125 resolution and a 458 PPI. It also won’t have 3D Touch but will come with Face ID.

There is an Apple A13 chipset under its hood and it will be paired with 6GB of RAM. It will also have a 12MP selfie camera but triple rear cameras. Just like the iPhone 11, it will support reverse-wireless charging and Wi-Fi 6.

iPhone 11 Pro Max

The successor to the iPhone XS Max will keep the 6.5-inch 2688 x 1242 OLED display of its predecessor. It also will not have 3D Touch but will have Face ID.

Just like the other two, the Apple A13 is the SoC powering it and it too will have 6GB of RAM. The selfie camera is a 12MP sensor and there are three sensors on the back. It will also have reverse-wireless charging and Wi-Fi 6.
