Galaxy S23’s major camera update now rolling out in the US

Samsung is now rolling out the major camera-improving update for the Galaxy S23 series in the US. The update, which was previously released in South Korea, Europe, and India, is now available for carrier-locked and unlocked models of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

The update, which comes with firmware version S91xUSQU1AWC8 for carrier-locked units and S91xU1UEU1AWC8 for unlocked models, includes the April 2023 security patch as well as all the camera improvements and fixes that Samsung previously detailed.

One of the major improvements included in the update is the addition of a feature to the gallery that allows users to delete photos being processed immediately after they are taken with the camera. Another improvement is the change in the AF concept, which enables faster photo capture by allowing users to take a photo even if the focus is not fully achieved yet.

The update also improves the clarity and flicker when shooting with the ultrawide lens in indoor low-light conditions after enabling Super Steady on the camera’s video mode. It also fixes issues such as the occasional appearance of a green line on the left side when taking photos in the rear photo mode and the intermittent failure of facial recognition after ending a third-party video call.

Furthermore, the update improves the stabilization of shaky footage when shooting in FHD60 with auto-FPS turned off in the rear video mode. It also improves the linear banding noise that occurs in low light conditions when taking high-resolution photos, optimizes the sharpness overall, and fixes occasional blurring caused by OIS stabilization.

Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are all part of this update.

One of the major improvements in the update is related to the camera and gallery. The gallery has a new function that allows users to delete photos immediately, providing a smoother experience. Additionally, the autofocus concept has been changed, allowing users to take photos even when the focus is not completely set. However, users can also turn off this feature and prioritize focus over speed by going to the camera assistant settings.

Furthermore, the update enhances ultra-wide camera photography by improving sharpness and adding notice when shooting Ultrawide in low light. However, users can still shoot after completing focus as before by changing the settings in the latest Camera Assistant. Improved sharpness and flicker have been added when shooting ultrawide in low light indoors after setting the Camera Video Mode to Super Steady On. Users will also receive a notice stating that more light is needed to take a good Super Steady photo.

Image stabilization has been improved when shooting with FHD60 after setting Auto FPS Off in the rear video.
Improved line-shaped banding noise in the sky in mid-low light when shooting high-pixel in low-mid light. The overall sharpness has also been optimized for high-pixel shooting, and intermittent blurring has been reduced through OIS stabilization.
A malfunction when shooting after Night Off in low light after selecting Shooting Speed > High Resolution > Speed Priority in Camera Assistant has been fixed.
Face recognition issues after ending a third-party video call have been resolved.
Samsung has also improved the stability of the camera app when the frame has moving subjects.

The update will roll out to other countries very soon but it will probably roll out as the April 2023 update since we are almost at the end of March now.

Samsung Reportedly Working on a Major Camera Update for Galaxy S23 Series

Samsung’s latest flagship Galaxy S23 line has been receiving mixed reviews from users, with complaints focused on the phone’s camera optimization. According to a tweet from reliable tipster Ice Universe, Samsung is preparing a “big update” to address these concerns.

One of the most significant issues with the Galaxy S23 line’s cameras is pixel binning, which reduces the image resolution but improves image quality by reducing noise and enhancing dynamic range. However, even with this feature, users are still experiencing issues with blurry photos, shutter lag, and problems with Night Mode.

Galaxy S23 Ultra

Reddit users have been vocal about their frustrations, with one user stating, “The longer I have my S23 Ultra, the more I’m starting to feel that Samsung made a really terrible phone.” Another user added, “Samsung is so disconnected from their customers. This shutter lag issue has been around for so long it’s inexplicable how it hasn’t been resolved.”

Fortunately, Samsung is reportedly working on a solution to these issues with a camera optimization update. Tipster Ice Universe has suggested that Night Mode will be one of the features to be improved by the upcoming update.

The Galaxy S23 line features a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP Ultra-wide camera, a 10MP Telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP front-facing camera for selfies. The Galaxy S23 Ultra features a 200MP primary camera, a 12MP Ultra-wide camera, a 10MP Telephoto lens, a 10MP Periscope lens (one with 3x optical zoom and the other with 10x optical zoom), and a front-facing 12MP selfie camera.

It is worth noting that phone manufacturers often release updates to address issues shortly after launching a new phone series. Therefore, Samsung’s efforts to optimize the Galaxy S23 line’s camera system may not be surprising. Regardless, users are eager to see whether the upcoming update will address their concerns and improve the Galaxy S23 line’s camera performance.

Samsung Galaxy Note9’s latest update focuses on camera improvement

Samsung has begun rolling out a new update to its latest flagship, the Galaxy Note9. The new update focuses on improving the camera performance of the device.

The update which comes in at about 300MB in size has started to hit devices in Germany and updates the firmware version to N960FXXU2ARI9. It also comes with September’s security patch. Below is the complete changelog for the update:

Camera Picture quality has been improved.
Brightness of faces in backlit conditions has been improved.
Day/Night HDR control accuracy has been improved.
Low light brightness and SNR (Signal Noise ratio) has been improved.

The Samsung Galaxy Note9 has a 6.4-inch 1440 x 2960 display, a Snapdragon 845 or Exynos 9810 chipset and up to 8GB of RAM. It also has up to 512GB of storage with the option to add more via a MicroSD card slot.

The phone has dual 12MP sensors on its back – one has a wide angle lens and an adjustable aperture (f/1.5 and f/2.4) while the other has a telephoto lens with a f/2.4 aperture. The front camera is an 8MP f/1.7 Autofocus sensor. The camera app has features such as scene optimizer, 960fps slow-motion recording, night HDR, portrait mode, and AR emojis.

The Galaxy Note9 has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and an Iris scanner. It also has a heart rate sensor, a USB Type-C port, audio jack, a 4000mAh battery and a Water Carbon Cooling system.
