<p>Not every smartphone brand appears convinced that a dramatic visual overhaul is the next step for Android software. As reports point to some manufacturers embracing glass-inspired interface designs, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/oppo">Oppo</a> has indicated that its upcoming ColorOS 17 update could place greater emphasis on refining the overall user experience.</p>

<h3><strong>ColorOS design chief shares sets expectations about ColorOS 17</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="964" height="543" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-58.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741566" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-58.png 964w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-58-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-58-768x433.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-58-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-58-746x420.png 746w" sizes="(max-width: 964px) 100vw, 964px" /></figure>

<p>On June 2, Digital Chat Station <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/06/02/coloros-17-ui-leak-apple-like-elements/">claimed</a> that an upcoming Android interface, referred to as &#8220;C17&#8221;, would introduce several visual refinements. According to the tipster, the software could feature a stronger liquid glass-inspired appearance, more consistent rounded corners across the interface, enhanced light-field rendering effects and dynamic lighting animations in areas such as notifications, music playback controls and the Dynamic Island-style interface.</p>

<p>The tipster has now shared additional details, stating that the software may include a completely new light-field interaction system, AI-powered adaptive colour matching and glass-like interface materials. While the overall layout may not appear dramatically different at first glance, the finer visual details are said to deliver a significantly more polished look and feel.</p>

<p>Following the latest leak, some users speculated that the information was related to ColorOS 17. Responding to these claims, ColorOS Design Director Chen Xi clarified that the leaked description likely does not refer to Oppo&#8217;s software. He suggested that the confusion may have stemmed from the mention of light-field design, a term already associated with Oppo&#8217;s design language.</p>

<p>Chen added that another smartphone brand is reportedly taking a far more aggressive approach towards liquid glass-style visuals. In contrast, ColorOS 17 is expected to focus on core user experience improvements rather than major interface redesigns. He also noted that the summer development period is generally dedicated to optimising system performance and refining everyday usability, while larger feature additions are usually introduced later.</p>

<p>ColorOS 17 is expected to make its debut on the Oppo Find X10 series in China this September, with a wider rollout roadmap likely to follow.</p>

<p>Early leaks suggest ColorOS 17 will be a pretty significant upgrade rather than a yearly incremental one, which further boosts the excitement. Take a look at the list below to find out if your Oppo device made the cut.</p>

<h2>List of Oppo devices eligible for ColorOS 17 (Android 17) update</h2>

<p><strong>Oppo Find N series</strong></p>

<p><strong>Oppo Pad series</strong></p>

<ul><li>Oppo Pad 5</li><li>Oppo Pad 3</li><li>Oppo Pad SE</li></ul>

<p>Note that Oppo has yet to publish an official list of ColorOS 17 supported devices. So, we had to review the software update policy of each Oppo device to ensure the list closely matches the official one. That means if your device is on the list, it’s almost guaranteed to receive the ColorOS 17 update.</p>

<p>Also, it doesn’t take long to realize that there are no Oppo A-series phones on the list. That’s because most of them do not have an official update policy, and to keep the list as accurate as possible, we didn’t include them. That said, some of them may still receive the update.</p>

<p>We’ll update the list when Oppo makes an official announcement.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="855" height="230" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-11.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-740692" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-11.png 855w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-11-300x81.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-11-768x207.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-11-696x187.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 855px) 100vw, 855px" /></figure>

<p>As can be seen in the above screenshot, the tipster Digital Chat Station claims that ColorOS 17 will incorporate more liquid glass-like interface elements throughout the system. The update is expected to feature a more refined design language with smoother and more consistent rounded corners across different parts of the user interface.</p>

<p>The tipster also mentions additional light-field rendering effects, which could make interface animations appear more dynamic. Real-time lighting effects are said to be integrated into notifications, pop-up alerts, the Dynamic Island-style interface, and music playback screens.</p>

<p>While no screenshots of these individual features have surfaced yet, the leak suggests that Oppo is focusing heavily on visual polish and system-wide consistency. The tipster even hinted that the software could carry a stronger Apple-inspired design influence than before.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-1024x512.png?x44794" alt="ColorOS 16 design" class="wp-image-710915" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-1024x512.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-300x150.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-768x384.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-696x348.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-1068x534.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-840x420.png 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>ColorOS 16 design</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Interestingly, this is not the first time information about ColorOS 17 has emerged. A <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/19/coloros-17-oxygenos-17-leak-reveals-new-upgrades-with-android-17/">leak from February</a> indicated that Oppo&#8217;s upcoming software could include improved CPU resource allocation, enhanced memory management, and better app retention in multitasking scenarios. The same report also claimed that users may see smoother system animations, fewer frame drops across the interface, and refined camera performance with more seamless zoom transitions during photography and video recording.</p>

<p>Although these details remain unconfirmed, they paint a picture of an update that focuses on both aesthetics and everyday usability. If accurate, ColorOS 17 could combine visual enhancements with under-the-hood optimisations to deliver a more polished experience.</p>

<p>ColorOS 17 is expected to debut first on the Oppo <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-find-x10">Find X10</a> series, which is reportedly scheduled to launch in China this October. Following that launch, Oppo is likely to announce the rollout plan for additional devices.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/15/every-xiaomi-redmi-poco-devices-set-to-get-the-android-17-based-hyperos-update/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi recently confirmed</a> the list of devices that will get the Android 17 OS update, which arrived soon after the first official <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/14/android-17-beta-1-is-here-how-to-install-eligible-devices-and-new-features/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Android 17 beta</a> went live. Now, early leaks have revealed Oppo’s and OnePlus’s next major software updates based on Android 17. But ahead of any official release roadmap, the latest report has revealed a bunch of key updates for the upcoming ColorOS 17 and OxygenOS 17.</p>

<h3>ColorOS 17 and OxygenOS 17: Smoother Performance &amp; System Efficiency</h3>

<p>One of the biggest themes across leaks is system performance optimization. Both ColorOS 17 and OxygenOS 17 are reported to refine CPU resource and memory management, resulting in faster app launches, fewer micro-stutters and better overall fluidity when navigating the interface. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="609" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/OxygenOS-16--1024x609.png?x44794" alt="OxygenOS 16" class="wp-image-727422" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/OxygenOS-16--1024x609.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/OxygenOS-16--300x178.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/OxygenOS-16--768x457.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/OxygenOS-16--696x414.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/OxygenOS-16--1068x635.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/OxygenOS-16--706x420.png 706w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/OxygenOS-16-.png 1128w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>OxygenOS 16</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Background multitasking is expected to benefit from improved app retention, meaning apps stay active longer instead of reloading frequently. Leaks also suggest deeper internal optimizations like improved garbage collection processes to reduce unnecessary workload on system resources and refine idle power usage, which could translate into more consistent battery life in day-to-day use.</p>

<h3>Refined Animations &amp; Interface Fluidity</h3>

<p>Both the ColorOS 17 and OxygenOS 17 updates are tipped to bring smoother system-wide animations and reduced UI frame drops, helping make everyday interactions feel more consistent and responsive. Whether scrolling through apps or navigating menus, leaks suggest that transitions and motion feedback will look more polished than before, improving the overall feel and software experience.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-1024x512.png?x44794" alt="ColorOS 16 design" class="wp-image-710915" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-1024x512.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-300x150.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-768x384.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-696x348.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-1068x534.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design-840x420.png 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ColorOS-16-design.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>ColorOS 16</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Camera apps are also a focus here. Reports point to improved zoom transitions while taking photos and videos, meaning less lag, flickering and abrupt jumps between zoom levels. This would be a great quality tweak that could make major differences during real world shooting sessions.</p>

<h3>Camera &amp; Visual Improvements</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/OnePlus-OxygenOS-16-rollout-expansion-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="OnePlus OxygenOS 16 rollout expansion" class="wp-image-722590" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/OnePlus-OxygenOS-16-rollout-expansion-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/OnePlus-OxygenOS-16-rollout-expansion-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/OnePlus-OxygenOS-16-rollout-expansion-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/OnePlus-OxygenOS-16-rollout-expansion-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/OnePlus-OxygenOS-16-rollout-expansion-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/OnePlus-OxygenOS-16-rollout-expansion-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/OnePlus-OxygenOS-16-rollout-expansion.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>On the imaging side, one of the more practical changes highlighted in the leaks is smoother zoom behavior in the camera interface. These enhancements are for both stills and video capture. This hints at software-level improvements that could make switching between focal lengths or continuous zooming feel more natural and less jittery. That’s a welcome improvement for users who rely on their phones for quick photo/video tasks.</p>
