Yesterday, we reported that Samsung had started rolling out the Android 11 update for the Galaxy A02s and the Galaxy A12 as One UI Core 3.1. Now, the very same update is live for the Galaxy M02s and the Galaxy F02s  as well.

For those unaware, Galaxy A02s, Galaxy M02s, and Galaxy F02s are basically the same phone with different names. They have an identical hardware and therefore, they also run a similar software build.

Hence, the Galaxy M02s and the Galaxy F02s have started receiving the Android 11 (One UI Core 3.1) update in India soon after the Galaxy A02s. The latest system update for these handsets comes with firmware versions M025FXXU2BUDC and E025FXXU1BUDC respectively.

Apart from bringing new features and UI changes, the new update for these budget smartphones also bumps up the security patch level to April 2021. Like any other OTA system updates, these builds are also being pushed in batches. Therefore, they may take some to reach every unit.

Anyway, users of these two Samsung handsets in India or any other region for that matter can head over to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check whether their unit has got the update.

Late last week, a tipster claimed Samsung to launch a Galaxy M series smartphone with a big screen in India this week. Yesterday, this device’s names, specs, and price were revealed by a report. And today, the South Korean tech giant has officially confirmed to announce this handset on January 7 in the country.

When Mukul Sharma shared a teaser poster with the text #MAXUP, we thought this phone could be either the Galaxy M62 phablet or the most leaked Galaxy M12. But this smartphone turns out to be Galaxy M02s, a rebadged Galaxy A02s with more RAM and storage, as per its Google Play Console listing, an IANS report as well as official teasers by the company.

This handset has been confirmed to flaunt a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a V-shaped notch at the top center (aka Infinity-V Display). It will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC paired with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage.

On the back, the device will sport a vertically aligned triple camera setup consisting of a 13MP primary sensor, 2MP macro shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor accompanied by an LED flash. Whereas, for selfies and video calls, the phone will use a 5MP sensor.

Last but not least, the handset will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery. Also, since it is expected to be the same as Galaxy A02s, it should also feature USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a dedicated microSD card slot. But unfortunately, it won’t come with a fingerprint sensor.

Anyway, the main highlight of the Galaxy M02s will be its price. That’s because it is reported to be the first Samsung smartphone with 4GB RAM under ₹10,000 in India.

Samsung is already working on the next budget M series of devices. Dubbed the M12, a device has already appeared on several certifications. Today, a report by Gadgets360 says another Galaxy-M series device is in the works. And it could be a rebrand of a Galaxy-A smartphone.

According to the report, a Samsung device with model number SM-M025F appears on Google Play Supported devices list. Accordingly, it’s marketing name is shown as Galaxy M02s. Besides, the device also has a codename ‘a02q’. This not only matches with the Galaxy A02s in the listing but also suggests that the device could be a rebrand of the latter.

That said, a few weeks back, a Samsung device with model number SM-M025F/DS was spotted on the company’s official support page. While the device is speculated to be the Galaxy M02 and a rebrand of the Galaxy A02, it could just be a variant of the Galaxy M02s.

Anyway, the Galaxy A02s which launched back in November, is yet to go on sale in Europe. Priced at €150, the device has quite the specifications to perfectly fit as a successor to the Galaxy M01s smartphone. It has better specs like a bigger display, powerful processor, triple cameras etc.

Galaxy M02s Specifications( Expected from A02s)

Either way, if Galaxy M02s turns out as the rebrand of Galaxy A02s from Europe, it will feature a bigger 6.5-inch HD+ display instead of the 6.2-inch on the M01s. Additionally, it will also have a better Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC under the hood.

If you look at the rear of the Galaxy A02s, it has a vertically striped triple-camera array. This is a sensor plus from the dual camera of the Galaxy M01s. Anyway, the M02s will likely have a 13MP main, and two 2MP sensors.

Other expected specifications are a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, MicroSD expansion up to 1TB, and more. Let’s wait for the official details to ascertain the above claims.
