<p>The standard Galaxy S27 has appeared in the GSMA database under model number SM-S952U, marking the first official sign that development of the 2027 flagship series is underway. The “U” suffix typically refers to a US variant, suggesting Samsung is already preparing models for one of its key markets.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741481" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1-746x420.jpg 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/galaxy-s26-features-kv-1.jpg 1457w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>GSMA registrations are often among the earliest public indicators of an upcoming smartphone. They are required for IMEI allocation and device certification, and usually surface months before launch. The Galaxy S26 Edge and S26 Ultra, for instance, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/11/galaxy-s26-lineup-may-drop-plus-model-in-favor-of-edge-variant-gsma-listing-hints/">appeared</a> in the database around the same time last year. So everything seems to be going as planned.</p>

<p>The filing does not reveal any hardware details, but expectations are already forming around Samsung’s next-generation flagship. The base Galaxy S27 is likely to retain a compact design with a display around 6.3 inches, featuring a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel and a variable 120Hz refresh rate.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="850" height="211" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/22671.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-741482" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/22671.webp 850w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/22671-300x74.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/22671-768x191.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/22671-696x173.webp 696w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></figure></div>

<p>As for performance, Samsung is expected to continue its current dual-chip strategy with the upcoming Exynos 2700 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chips. Memory and storage options could start at 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s still very little information about the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ at this stage. The Galaxy S27 Ultra, however, is rumored to be getting a long-awaited <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/29/galaxy-s27-series-could-finally-bring-a-refreshed-camera-layout/">design refresh</a>. Reports suggest Samsung could remove one of the rear cameras, potentially freeing up space for a slightly larger battery. The flagship may also feature built-in magnets for native Qi2 support, eliminating the need for magnetic cases or accessories.</p>

<p>Some reports pointed to a possible <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/06/05/galaxy-s27-pro-battery-leak-raises-questions-about-samsungs-s27-ultra-positioning/">new Pro variant</a> as well, which may include a 50MP 3.5x telephoto.</p>

<p>For now, the GSMA listing confirms only one thing: Samsung’s next flagship generation is in development. More details are likely to emerge through certifications, benchmarks, and leaks in the coming months ahead of a probable early-2027 unveiling at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event.</p>

<p>Earlier today, news broke that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung </a>will use <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/23/samsung-galaxy-s25-tipped-snapdragon-8-elite/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">only Snapdragon 8 Elite in all of its Galaxy S25 models.</a> It seems this decision will continue for another year, as reports suggest the Galaxy S26 series will also rely on Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon chips.</p>

<h2>Galaxy S26 Might Stick to Snapdragon SoC</h2>

<p>According to the<a href="https://m.weibo.cn/status/5092577684750457" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> tipster Ice Universe</a>, who shared this information on Weibo, Samsung is thinking about exclusively using Snapdragon processors for the Galaxy S26 lineup. This is good news for people who prefer Snapdragon chips because they usually offer strong performance and good power efficiency.</p>

<p>However, Samsung has not given up on its own Exynos processors. Ice Universe also mentioned that Samsung is working on a new Exynos chip, which has the codename ‘Ulysses.’ This chip is planned for use in the Galaxy S27, which is expected to launch in 2027. The new Exynos processor will reportedly be made using Samsung’s second-generation 2nm technology (SF2P), which will be ready by the end of 2026.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="754" height="806" data-id="656391"  src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Galaxy-S27-Exynos.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-656391" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Galaxy-S27-Exynos.png 754w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Galaxy-S27-Exynos-281x300.png 281w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Galaxy-S27-Exynos-696x744.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Galaxy-S27-Exynos-393x420.png 393w" sizes="(max-width: 754px) 100vw, 754px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p>Originally, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ were supposed to have the 3nm Exynos 2500 chipset, also made by Samsung. In fact, Samsung even mentioned the Exynos 2500 during its earnings call. However, the company faced issues with production, meaning they couldn’t make enough chips. Because of this, Samsung decided to switch all the Galaxy S25 models to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip instead.</p>

<p>For now, Samsung is focusing on Snapdragon chips, but the company has plans to revive the Exynos brand with its &#8220;Project Ulysses.&#8221; Samsung hopes that, with this new chip, they can avoid the production problems they faced in the past and rebuild trust in Exynos processors.</p>

<p>Overall, Samsung is working hard to improve its in-house chips while continuing to use the reliable Snapdragon technology in the meantime. We will have to wait and see how things develop, especially with the release of the Galaxy S27 in the coming years.</p>
