Calling the Redmi K20 Pro one of the best devices on the market wouldn’t be an overstatement. As it stands, the device is a testament to how far one can push the envelope when it comes to mid-range pricing. It’s a phenomenally good device, even with the price out of the equation, with no major flaws and very few minor flaws on top of that. So, it makes sense that Xiaomi and Redmi would want to capitalize on this.

Yesterday, the company teased a small section of a device with bright gold sheen. Today, we’ve got leaks that reveal the device to be exactly what we thought it was. Redmi is making a new limited edition Redmi K20 Pro variant with a gold colour scheme, and for once the garish gold doesn’t look too bad.

The report also claims that this variant will go on sale in India INR 480,000 ($7000). We have no idea what sort of gold is going into this to jack up the price to $7000, but we’re not exactly huge fans. Is there really even a point to the device if it’s so expensive? We’re not entirely sure, but at the very least, the device isn’t ludicrously ugly like many gold devices are.

In terms of specs, this gold Redmi K20 Pro is pretty much exactly the same as your typical Redmi K20 Pro. All the great specs are still here, along with excellent features and design, just for a much higher price point. There’s essentially no reason to buy this device, just like there’s never been any reason to purchase ludicrously expensive device. But, it exists, and we suppose there’s probably a market for these things somewhere in the world.

Elephone have today sent over several images of their soon to be released Elephone M2 Business phone, its shaping up to be a great looking phone, unfortunately the images do not show the screen in use so I cannot advise on the size of the bezels.

The confirmed specification is as follows Mediatek MT6753 octa-core SOC running at 1.5GHz, 5.5″ 1080p display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, fingerprint scanner and metal unibody.

These are pretty much standard specifications for a mid range handset at the current time, so the phone will need to have some standout design and software elements or a very competitive price to compete and win business.

A lot of opinion is being thrown in to the ring regarding Elephone’s high turnover of new models, are you on the side of more choice equals better choice? or do you long for the days when manufacturers released 1 or 2 phones a year? or does the fact they are being aimed at ‘different’ markets make much of a difference to you opinion.

A Finnish company named Nokia does not have the best times in their franchise since it was purchased by the American giant Microsoft. Still, the Lumia brand and the iconic Nokia design exists and we do not see any radical changes in the look of the devices in the near future.

Anyway, Microsoft is proud to carry the Lumia name of the devices and it seems that they are planning to start selling something interesting in Microsoft’s Tmall Shop in China on January 8. What it more, the key device of the launch is expected to be  a gold variant of the Lumia 930, which will be known as the “Lumia Golden Ultimate Collector’s Edition” smartphone.

We are not sure about the quality of the move by Microsoft, but we have to admit that there is a separate niche for these kind of smartphones. If you do not feel that gold phones are for you, you have to wait for the CES 2015, which starts in 4 days. We are not sure what Microsoft has in its pipeline, but some refreshment in the Lumia’s lineup is expected to be unveiled.
