boAt is gearing up for the launch of a new product in India. The company had recently launched the Watch Vertex in the region, and now, it is planning on releasing the Watch Zenit as well.

The popular smart wearables and hearables maker’s upcoming smartwatch has just been spotted on Amazon India. It sports a 1.3 inch circular IPS display that sports two crown buttons on the side for navigation. This wearable is a budget smartwatch and could even be classified as a fitness tracker as well. Although, it still offers features that are common in modern day smartwatches like an SpO2 blood oxygen tracking, heart rate sensor, and even sleep monitoring.

Furthermore, the Watch Zenit offers more than 100 watch faces and also arrives with support for sports and activity tracking like walking, running, cycling, skipping, badminton, basketball, and football. Notably, the device even features a built in video game called Young Bird, which is quite similar to the flappy bird. In a single full charge, the smartwatch can last for up to seven days.

For protection, it even features IP67 certification for dust and water resistance while we can also see that the smartwatch is listed in three color variants. This includes Black, Silver, and Blue color options. Unfortunately, it is unknown when exactly the product is set to be released in the market, with its pricing also being unlisted as of right now. A new study has revealed that the popular wearable Apple Watch can effectively predict a positive case of Coronavirus infection up to a week prior to the PCR based nasal swab tests.

According to a MacRumors report, a new study published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research titled “Warrior Watch Study” had several hundred Mount Sinai healthcare workers using a dedicated Apple Watch and an iPhone app for personal health data monitoring. Furthermore, these participants also required to fill out a daily survey over several months to also provide direct feedback, regarding potential COVID symptoms and other health related aspects as well, like stress.

The data collected in the study was between April to September of last year, with the primary focus being the heart rate variability (HRV). For those unaware, this is a key indicator of strain on the nervous system. This data was then compiled with reported symptoms associated with the disease, through symptoms like fever, aches, dry cough, and loss of the sense of taste and smell.

The researches had hoped that the results could help anticipate the outcome and enable remote isolation of individuals to prevent the further spread of the virus. Similar to this, other studies have also surfaced that aimed to detect other health related problems as well, including diabetes and even provide early warning signs of atrial fibrillation.

FIIL,a startup backed by the popular Chinese rockstar, Wang Feng has just released a brand new Wireless earbuds for fitness enthusiasts, the FIIL Carat Pro. The earbuds are specially designed for those who would like to maximize their fitness regime with the help of advanced technology. The earbuds will soon be listed on kickstarter and aims to raise $50,000 in the next 40 days.

Today, there are hundreds of good wireless earbuds available in the market, so what makes the FIIL Carat Pro special? Well, it’s the focus on maximizing the user’s fitness goals. There are many features that make these earbuds special. For example, it boasts of real-time audio coaching and heart rate monitoring.

The FIIL Carat Pro earbuds make use of the PerformTek Precision biometrics technology. Hence, the tracking of various data by the device, like heart rate, step count, calories etc should be quite accurate. The one touch sport button is also something that helps organize your workout. A Single press of the button will tell you the exact step count, heart rate, duration, speed and other essential data of your exercise regime. Double press the same sport button and the earbuds will start collecting a new round of data. Just double press the button again to end the workout.

Another highlight of the Carat Pro is that it doesn’t have to rely on a smartphone to play songs. The earbuds can store up to 4GB of songs, which should come to around 1000 tracks in MP3, WAV, FLAC or AAC formats. The earbuds accept voice commands, so just asking it to “play Roar by Katy Perry” will be enough to start the song. Further, you can control the volume as well as tracks via the provided buttons. You can accept calls via the same buttons as well. If you are connected via Bluetooth, you can even stream via apps like Spotify.

Carat Pro’s highlight feature is the patented Speed Dependent Sound Technology (SDS). The tech basically speeds up and slows down the sound effects according to the intensity of your workout. For example, if you are working hard, the Carat Pro will automatically pump up the music and similarly, dial the music down when you are relaxing. There’s a special FIIL+ app as well which helps you to choose between different workout modes like running, yoga, biking etc for accurate tracking.

As for the battery life, the FIIL Carat Pro can run for nine hours in the local mode and up to six hours on Bluetooth mode in a single charge. It takes about an hour and a half to charge it back to 100%.

Renders of the Huawei Mate 9 were posted on twitter yesterday by an account with the handle @the_malignant.

This new render also has dual cameras like the leaked images we talked about earlier this week but is also different in a lot of ways. The cameras are stacked on top of each other but are raised which gives the phone a bump. The back of the phone is also flat and doesn’t have that curve that makes a phone fit into your palm.

The camera is flanked by two slits which some people say is a LED flash and laser sensor combo while others say it’s a LED flash + heart rate sensor combination. This render also has a different colour: its back is grey and appears to be coated in sandstone while the front is white.

The front shows the 5.9” 1080p display with very thin bezels. You also have a speaker grille, front facing camera, and sensor on the top. There are no buttons on the chin, so you should expect on-screen keys. The power button and volume rocker are also closer to the top which means you’ll definitely be using this phone with both hands.

Online sources say the Mate 9 will come with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of ROM, an 8MP front facing camera, and 12MP cameras at the back (not 20MP anymore?). It is also said to feature Huawei’s Kirin 960 processor and come with Android 7.0 out of the box, which means date of release will probably be in the fourth quarter of the year, right in time for the holidays.

Here’s the entire list of the sensors found inside the flagship: gravity sensor, 3-axis gyroscope, three-axis magnetic sensor, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, heart rate, blood oxygen sensor, a pressure sensor, ultraviolet sensors, and Hall effect sensor.
5. The new flagship also boasts of being the first phone to fully utilize the power of the Snadpragon 820 chipset. With the help of optimizations, the company claims that it could utilize 100% power from the quad-core chipset, which helps it score nearly 145K on the AnTuTu benchmarking app.
6. You can easily sync the data on your Z2 Pro onto the iCloud. So, if you ever have to restore the contents on your device, just restore it directly from the cloud.

So, that was all the important features of the newly announced ZUK Z2 Pro. April has been the month of the Chinese flagships. We have seen so many powerful devices in the past 21 days that it has become hard to keep a track of all the smartphones announced recently. Now, add ZUK Z2 Pro to the list as the company calls it the true flagship smartphone of this year. Why this sudden claim? Well, the phone comes with so many powerful features that it can claim to be the ‘first’ in a lot of things. For example, the phone is reportedly the first on to use a “true 3D mirror body design”. There are a bunch of other firsts, but more about that later.

First up, the phone’s design is unique because of its 3D mirror design. The 3D glass body comes with an arch design. The frame in the middle has gone through 10 processors and 260 steps to ensure durability. Further, it uses a roll cage design for addition protection.

Coming to the screen, the ZUK Z2 Pro will limit the black borders to mere 0.05mm, which is pretty impressive. There will be a Super AMOLED 5.2-inch display with 1080p resolution. Like the Le Max 2, the screen has a maximum brightness of 500 nits and minimum brightness of 1 nit.

Like mentioned above, the phone can boast of a lot of firsts, and among them being the first one to come with 10 different professional sensors. Wondering which are these 10 sensors? Here’s the list:  gravity sensor, 3-axis gyroscope, three-axis magnetic sensor, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, heart rate, blood oxygen sensor, a pressure sensor, ultraviolet sensors, and Hall effect sensor. With the help of the company’s health app, you should be able to keep a thorough check on your body.

Under the hood, the ZUK Z2 Pro comes with the powerful Snapdragon 820. But there’s more, the company claims that this is the first phone to utilize 100% performance from the chipset. Still doubtful? Well, the company has released the AnTuTu score of the device and it gets a good 144,939 on the benchmarking test. One of the best we have seen till date.

But SD820 isn’t just the pick of the hardware. The Z2 Pro comes with a 6GB RAM version as well, joining the likes of Le Max 2 and Vivo XPlay 5 Premium. You get a large 128GB ROM on this version, making sure you never have to worry about storage. There’s another version, 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM, i.e. for those, who want to save a few hundred bucks.

Coming to the camera, there’s serious technology being used inside the Z2 Pro. The phone comes with both OIS and EIS, so dual image stabilization. There is a 13MP rear camera sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 1.34 micron pixel size and pixel isolation technology support. The rear cam supports 4K video recording. As for the front camera, you get an 8MP 1.4 micron sensor with f/2.0 and support for heartrate check. Yes, this is not a mistake, as the ZUK Z2 Pro is probably the first smartphone that can identify your heart rate using the front camera. So, next time you are with a girl for a selfie, make sure you turn this feature off, or else, she’ll know you are nervous.

Now, moving on to the fingerprint sensor, the Z2 Pro claims to be the first fingerprint-enabled phone to work with wet hands. The company has used a self-learning algorithm to ensure that recognition improves with time. You can unlock the device in just 0.1 seconds. As for the connectivity features, the phone supports USB Type-C 3.1, QC 3.0, full netcom 3.0 standard, 4G+ VoLTE, and international roaming. The phone will run on the new ZUK 2.0 system with iCloud which can backup all your data for safe restore at a later time.

Inside, you have a 3100mAh capacity battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 support.

Now, coming to the most interesting part of the device, the pricing. ZUK Z1 was an affordable device and the company has priced the Z2 Pro on the same lines. The 6GB + 128GB ROM variant will go on sale for just 2699 Yuan ($416). Registrations start on April 22 from 10 AM in China. No word on the pricing of the 4GB  + 64GB ROM version yet.
