In an ideal smartphone world, brands first launch the Chinese models and the global variants follow a few weeks or months later. But Honor flipped the script with the new Honor 600 Pro. The company first launched the Honor 600 series globally in April, and the Chinese version made their debut just recently. 

At first glance, the two devices look almost identical. They share the same 6.57-inch OLED display, the same 200-megapixel main camera, and the same fast charging setup. However, there are some interesting changes, especially around performance, battery life, and design.

The biggest surprise? The Chinese model actually downgrades the chipset while upgrading the battery.

Design

The global and Chinese versions of the Honor 600 Pro definitely have similarities, but not in terms of design. 

The global model has a rectangular camera island that feels heavily inspired by recent iPhones. In fact, the resemblance is hard to ignore, especially with the triangular triple-camera arrangement and flash placement. 

The Chinese version changes things up a bit with a pill-shaped horizontal camera bar. You could again say it’s iPhone Air-inspired, but it looks a bit different nonetheless.

Both phones use glass and aluminum in their construction, and both carry IP68 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. 

Size differences are also minimal. The global version measures 156 x 74.7 x 7.8mm, while the Chinese unit comes in at 156.1 x 74.8 x 7.9mm. The Chinese model is also slightly heavier at 202 grams, likely because of its much larger battery.

Moreover, the global model comes in Golden White, Black, and Orange, while China gets Black, Green, Blue, and Purple.

Display

There’s almost no difference between the displays on the two phones, and that’s a good thing. Both versions of the Honor 600 Pro use a 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 3840Hz PWM dimming, and HDR Vivid support. Resolution sits at 1264 x 2728, which works out to around 458 pixels per inch.

Honor also claims up to 8,000 nits of peak brightness on both models, though the Chinese version lists a more realistic 800 nits typical brightness and 1,800 nits in high brightness mode.

These aren’t giant displays by modern flagship standards, but the smaller footprint could actually make the phones more appealing to people tired of carrying around massive 6.8-inch slabs.

The global model uses Mohs level 4 protection, while the Chinese version switches to aluminosilicate glass. Neither phone uses Gorilla Glass branding, but both should survive everyday scratches without much trouble.

Performance

Things are significantly different in terms of performance. 

The global Honor 600 Pro runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is one of the most powerful Android chips currently available. It’s paired with the Adreno 830 GPU and comes in configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

The Chinese model, meanwhile, drops down to the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Elite. That’s not necessarily a bad chip, but it’s definitely a step below the Snapdragon 8 Elite in raw performance. The global version should have a noticeable advantage in gaming, sustained performance, and AI-heavy workloads.

It’s an unusual difference because Chinese variants are often the more powerful ones. However, Honor seems to be prioritizing battery life over outright speed for the domestic market. Both phones ship with Android 16 and MagicOS 10. 

Cameras

Moving on to cameras, each version uses a 200-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, paired with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera. It also has a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS.

On the front, both phones use a 50-megapixel selfie camera capable of recording 4K video. Rear video recording support tops out at 4K on both models, with gyro-EIS and OIS helping stabilize footage.

Battery and charging

The Chinese Honor 600 Pro packs a huge 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, while the global version settles for 7,000mAh internationally and 6,400mAh in Europe.

That’s still big by flagship standards, but China’s version is on another level entirely. It’s part of a growing trend where Chinese manufacturers are using silicon-carbon battery tech to push capacities far beyond what most global phones currently offer. 

Even gaming phones rarely cross the 7,000mAh mark globally, so seeing 8,000mAh in a relatively slim flagship is impressive.

Charging speeds stay the same across both devices. You get 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 27W reverse wired charging. The Chinese version also adds reverse wireless charging.

Connectivity and extras

As for connectivity, the global model supports Wi-Fi 7, while the Chinese version tops out at Wi-Fi 6. Both include Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, infrared blasters, stereo speakers, and under-display fingerprint scanners.

Interestingly, the fingerprint hardware differs, too. The global model uses an optical sensor, while the Chinese variant upgrades to a faster and more reliable ultrasonic scanner.

Same phone, different priorities

The two versions of the Honor 600 Pro ultimately feel like phones designed for different audiences.

The global model focuses on flagship-level performance with Qualcomm’s best chipset, longer software support, and slightly better connectivity. The Chinese version, meanwhile, trades some of that power for an enormous battery and a refreshed design.

What’s interesting is that neither model is clearly “better.” If you care about gaming and peak performance, the global version probably makes more sense. But if battery life is your top priority, the Chinese model looks incredibly tempting.

To recall, the Honor 600 and 600 Pro were unveiled for the global market in April. The Chinese Honor 600 bears some similarity with the Honor 600 Super.

Honor 600 series specifications and features

The Honor 600 Vitality and Honor 600 Super feature a 6.57-inch OLED display with a 1.5K (2728×1264p) resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 8000nits local peak brightness. The Honor 600 Pro also uses a 6.57-inch OLED panel with similar resolution and refresh rate support. All three smartphones run MagicOS 10 based on Android 16. Honor has not yet revealed the software update commitment for the new series.

The Honor 600 Vitality features a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, while the Honor 600 Super adds a 200-megapixel primary sensor with OIS and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide macro camera. The Honor 600 Super starts at CNY 3,299 (~$484) for the 12GB + 256GB model and goes up to CNY 3,699 (~$543) for the 12GB + 512GB variant.

Honor is adding an unusual accessory to its upcoming Honor 600 series, and it is probably one of the more interesting smartphone add-ons the company has shown in a while. Ahead of the May 25 launch event, Honor officially teased a small magnetic secondary display called the Magic Mini “Yao” Screen, designed to attach to the back of the phone.

At first glance, it looks a bit like a tiny smart badge mixed with a camera accessory.

The small circular display can function as a rear preview monitor, allowing users to frame selfies or group shots using the main rear cameras instead of the front camera. Honor is also including a four-level fill light system, which should help in darker environments or indoor shooting situations.

The accessory goes beyond photography too. According to the company, it can also work as a remote control for the phone, supporting functions like remote shooting and even scrolling through apps such as Douyin without directly touching the handset.

But Honor clearly is leaning into the lifestyle angle here as well. The display can show animated wallpapers, custom images, and decorative visuals, essentially turning the accessory into a small electronic badge or fashion accessory attached to the back of the phone. Promotional material heavily targets younger users with playful designs and decorative charms.

As for the phones themselves, the Honor 600 series is shaping up to be fairly ambitious for the segment. A new leak from tipster Fixed Focus Digital also hints at a detachable secondary screen accessory for the phones.

According to the leak, the secondary display may attach magnetically to the back of the device. It can reportedly work as a remote camera controller, a fill light, or even as a small secondary display for photo transfers and wallpapers. The tipster also shared a blurred image showing the attachment on the rear panel of the phone.

Honor 600 and Honor 600 Pro Specifications

Globally, both phones come with a 6.57-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and very high peak brightness. The Honor 600 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, while the Honor 600 Pro uses the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. 

The camera specs include a 200MP main sensor and a 50MP front camera on the vanilla. The Pro version adds a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom. As for the battery, both have a 7000mAh cell, or a smaller 6400mAh option in Europe. The Pro also supports 50W wireless charging.

For China, the biggest upgrade could be the battery. According to another tipster, Smart Pikachu, the Honor 600 will feature an 8600mAh battery, while the Honor 600 Pro comes with an 8000mAh unit, both larger than the global versions. The rest of the hardware specs are pretty much the same as the global models. 

The Honor 600 will be available in China in 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB variants and in Lucky Star, Obsidian Black, Light Feature Blue, and Green Apple colors.

Meanwhile, the Honor 600 Pro adds a 16GB/512GB model and has the same shades as the vanilla.

The HONOR Number series has occupied an interesting market position over the past few years. It’s not the kind of device where you feel compelled to buy the absolute top-end model, yet it’s equally difficult to point out any major shortcomings. As some users put it, it’s a “premium mid-range all-rounder with a distinct flagship flavor.”

I’ve been using the HONOR 600 and 600 Pro side by side for quite some time now. Honestly, they don’t feel like two completely different phones. Instead, they feel like two different concentrations of the same excellent foundation. One is “more than enough and highly capable,” while the other is “that, plus a few serious upgrades.” Let’s break them down together, so you can clearly see the difference between this regular cup and the large cup.

Design & Build

At first glance, the two phones look nearly identical. But if you look closely, the main physical difference is that the standard model lacks a telephoto lens. If you put the 600, the 600 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro side by side, and only look at the camera module… even Apple’s own designers would have to do a double-take. But jokes aside, the biggest design change on this generation of HONOR Number series isn’t the color — it’s the craftsmanship.

The build and finish are identical across both models. They feature a semi-transparent ultra-durable composite fiber back and a matte metal frame. The unit I have on hand is the White colorway. On this model, the texture of the semi-transparent back panel is at its most expressive. In low light, it resembles warm, polished jade. It resists smudges remarkably well, which is especially noticeable on this white finish. After a week of use, the back remains remarkably clean.

Both phones share the same display: a 6.57-inch AMOLED flat screen. And yes, it’s flat — a significant advantage for flat-screen enthusiasts — with extremely slim bezels. Combined with the largest corner radius of any Android device, the front-facing design projects a presence that easily punches above its mid-range class.

The physical dimensions are identical. The only difference is weight. That extra 10 grams in the Pro model is barely noticeable in the hand, but it’s the price you pay for that telephoto lens. In a sense, those 10 grams are the most valuable 10 grams on this entire phone. It’s also worth noting that IP68, IP69, and IP69K water and dust resistance are present on both devices. Whether you’re at the beach or caught in the rain, you won’t have to worry as long as you’re not intentionally submerging it. This level of protection remains rare at this price point.

Display

I’ll admit, I initially dismissed the “8000 nits HDR peak brightness” as marketing speak, reminiscent of the early “hundred-megapixel” craze.
But after using it, I stand corrected. The greatest value of this display isn’t that theoretical peak of 8000 nits — it’s the Sunlight Mode. You won’t notice it indoors, but under direct sunlight at noon, the screen automatically ramps up to another level. According to official data, at 20% APL, it can hit 4000 nits. The simple translation is: while other phones force you to shield the screen with your hand just to see what’s on it, you can continue to browse messages and use navigation without issue.

Both displays share identical specifications: a 120Hz refresh rate, 3840Hz ultra-high frequency PWM dimming, and 1.07 billion colors. After using both the standard and Pro models for a week in low-light nighttime conditions, I can confirm that eye strain is significantly reduced compared to certain flagships with low-frequency PWM dimming. For those who tend to scroll through their phones for a while after turning off the lights, this display offers a distinct, yet often overlooked, advantage.

System & AI

Both phones run MagicOS 10, based on Android 16, and both feature the dedicated AI Button. I find the logic behind this AI button quite clever. It’s not a “press and talk” voice assistant, but rather a contextual trigger. For example, when you’re viewing photos in the gallery, a long press of the AI button directly launches AI Image to Video 2.0 — select a few images, type a description, and generate a 3 to 8-second video. This feature is available on both the standard and Pro models, and the experience is identical.

These AI experiences are the same across both models. Where the gap truly opens is the underlying performance headroom.
The Pro model’s Snapdragon 8 Elite is significantly more powerful than the standard model’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. In practical AI terms, this means the Pro generates videos faster, handles multitasking more smoothly, and keeps more apps active in the background. You might not notice it in everyday casual use, but if you’re simultaneously running AI generation, navigation, and background music streaming, the Pro model’s composure becomes apparent.

Performance & Battery Life: Same 7000mAh, Different Ceilings

Both phones pack a 7000mAh battery. That’s an extraordinary number, made even more impressive by the fact that both maintain a 7.8mm thickness. In real-world testing, the standard 600 easily lasts two days on a single charge with light to moderate use. The Pro model, with its more powerful chipset and marginally higher power draw, still comfortably delivers a day and a half to two days of use.
On the charging front:

• Both support 80W wired fast charging
• The standard model supports 27W wired reverse charging
• The Pro model adds 50W wireless charging
  This wireless charging capability has a real impact on usage habits. If you’re accustomed to simply placing your phone on a wireless charging pad, the Pro model will feel significantly more convenient. If that’s not part of your routine, the standard model is perfectly adequate.

Cameras

Earlier, I mentioned that the Pro model’s extra 10 grams over the standard version is the most valuable 10 grams on the entire device. This is why — the periscopic telephoto lens.

The main cameras on both phones are identical. Daytime, nighttime, and low-light shots are highly consistent between the two. The main camera, paired with the AI Night Engine, delivers a very high success rate, especially in low light — as long as you keep the phone reasonably steady, blur is rarely an issue.

But the moment you zoom to mid or long range, the difference becomes immediately apparent. The standard 600 relies on cropping from the main camera beyond roughly 3x, where quality begins to visibly degrade. The 600 Pro adds a 50MP periscopic telephoto lens with excellent stabilization, offering 3.5x optical zoom and up to 120x hybrid zoom.

Here’s a real-world example: from an overpass, I used the Pro model’s 10x zoom to capture the illuminated signage of a distant building. The detail was remarkably sharp — not at all what you’d expect from a mid-range device. So the camera summary is straightforward: the standard HONOR 600 has a very strong main camera, covering 90% of daily shooting scenarios. The HONOR 600 Pro offers the main camera plus a periscopic telephoto, covering 99% of scenarios, and adds a genuinely creative zoom range.

Conclusion

We’ve summarized the strengths of both phones for your reference.
The HONOR 600 series represents a very smart product strategy. It doesn’t cripple the standard version just to make the Pro model look “stronger.”What it trims is primarily the periscopic telephoto lens and wireless charging, with a slightly lower-tier chipset that remains perfectly adequate for most users. The HONOR 600 Pro builds on the standard version by adding: the periscopic telephoto lens, 50W wireless charging, the Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship core, and more responsive AI processing under heavy loads.

The Honor 600 series centers around a 200-megapixel main camera with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor. The Honor 600 Pro is priced at RM3,099 (~$785) for the 12GB + 256GB variant and RM3,299 (~$835) for the 512GB version. The Honor 600 is available at RM2,599 (~$660) for the 12GB + 512GB model. The series comes in Orange, Golden White, and Black color options.

Pre-orders are open until April 29, with added benefits including instant rebates, bundled accessories, and extended warranty coverage. Sales will begin from April 30 through Honor stores and partner retailers.

The phone uses a horizontal triple-camera layout, which feels a bit different from what Honor has done recently. It looks clean, though opinions will likely depend on taste.

From the front, things are more familiar. The device appears to have a 6.57-inch OLED display with slim bezels and slightly rounded corners. There’s a single punch-hole camera at the top, which keeps the overall look fairly minimal.

The Honor 600 series has already appeared in Geekbench and TUV certification listings. The standard model scored 1318 in single-core and 4075 in multi-core tests on Geekbench 6.6.0, while the Pro variant posted 2951 and 8869, respectively. If you’ve ever liked the look of an iPhone but hesitated at the price, Honor seems ready with an alternative. Images of the upcoming Honor 600 and Honor 600 Pro have just surfaced online, and yes, they look more like iPhones than Honor phones.

The back panel features a full-width horizontal bar that houses the camera system, LED flash, and laser autofocus. Like an iPhone 17 Pro. Its color options are also said to include black, gold, and an orange finish. Like an iPhone 17 Pro.

Honor 600 / 600 Pro Expected Specifications 

On the front, both devices are expected to feature a 6.57-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1.5K resolution.

Under the hood, things are still a bit unclear. Reports suggest the phones will use a high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series chipset, though it’s not confirmed whether that means last year’s flagship silicon or a newer, slightly toned-down “s” variant.
