<p>Alongside the Pro model, Huawei is also launching the MatePad Mini Collector’s Edition in China today.</p>

<h2><strong>Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 (2025)</strong></h2>

<p>The limited edition model is priced at 7,799 yuan (around $1,095). It’s available exclusively in a PaperMatte display variant with Wi-Fi support.</p>

<p>The tablet packs a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED screen with a resolution of 2800 x 1840 pixels, a 144Hz refresh rate, P3 wide color gamut, 1.07 billion colors, and HDR Vivid certification. </p>

<p>It houses a 50MP main camera paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter. On the front, there’s an 8MP camera for video calls and conferences.</p>

<p>Interestingly, this is Huawei’s first tablet to support Wi-Fi 7. It packs a 10,100mAh battery that can charge up to 85% in just 40 minutes. The tablet also supports a one-step unlocking feature for more convenient and secure access.</p>

<p>As expected, the tablet supports stylus, mouse, and keyboard accessories.</p>

<h2><strong>Huawei MatePad Mini</strong></h2>

<p>The MatePad Mini Collector’s Edition comes in two configurations — 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB — priced at 5,999 yuan (~$845) and 6,499 yuan (~$915) respectively.</p>

<p>Both models are available in Universal Red with a PaperMatte display and offer network and Wi-Fi connectivity options.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei </a>has officially launched the MatePad Mini, its latest compact tablet, alongside the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/04/huaweis-mate-xts-is-the-only-tri-fold-phone-you-can-actually-buy-in-2025/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate XTs tri-fold</a>. The tablet features an 8.8-inch display, weighs just 255 grams, and measures 5.1mm thick. It’s also Huawei’s first real push into a “mini tablet” lineup that competes directly with the iPad mini.</p>

<p>The MatePad Mini runs on HarmonyOS 5.1, Huawei’s latest operating system, and supports both cellular calls and data. It also comes with two-way Beidou satellite messaging, giving users a backup communication option when regular networks aren’t available.</p>

<h2><strong>Huawei MatePad Mini Specifications</strong></h2>

<p>Huawei is placing a strong emphasis on the display, and for good reason. The tablet uses a flexible OLED full-screen panel with an ultra-narrow 2.99mm bezel, delivering a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. Its 16:10 aspect ratio makes it versatile for reading, streaming, and productivity.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="670" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Display.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-705189" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Display.jpg 670w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Display-300x269.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Display-469x420.jpg 469w" sizes="(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px" /></figure></div>

<p>Brightness peaks at 1,800 nits, and for avid readers, Huawei is offering a <strong>Soft Light Edition</strong>, which reduces 99 percent of ambient light interference, making it easier on the eyes.</p>

<p>The MatePad Mini also supports the Huawei M-Pencil Pro. When paired with the Soft Light Edition, it delivers a paper-like writing and drawing experience. Apps such as Huawei Notes and Huawei Reader make it easy to take notes during study sessions or meetings, while Huawei’s in-house app, Born to Draw, helps beginners create digital art.</p>

<p>Huawei’s AI assistant adds smarter features too, like recognizing conversations and highlighting Q&amp;A on the screen, effectively turning the tablet into a portable encyclopedia.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="499" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Color-Options.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-705188" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Color-Options.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Color-Options-300x166.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Color-Options-768x426.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Color-Options-696x385.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Color-Options-758x420.jpg 758w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>For video calls and online meetings, the MatePad Mini includes a 32MP front camera that supports RAW-quality portraits and beautification tools. Powering everything is a 6,400mAh battery with 66W SuperCharge support, and Huawei is bringing its smartphone-style low-battery emergency mode to a tablet for the first time.</p>

<h2><strong>Price and Availability</strong></h2>

<p>The Huawei MatePad Mini starts at 3,999 yuan (around $499), with pre-sales beginning September 4th and official sales on September 12th. The Soft Light Edition is priced at 3,299 yuan (around $599) and will be available starting September 25th.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei </a>is gearing up to compete with the likes of Xiaomi, Red Magic, and other brands in China with its latest compact flagship tablet. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-matepad-mini/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MatePad Mini </a>has already been spotted in a couple of teasers, but the latest leak hints at the performance being a letdown. </p>

<h2>Huawei MatePad Mini Leak Reveals Kirin 9010, Slim Bezels &amp; Colorful Design</h2>

<p>The latest info arrives from known tipster <a href="https://m.weibo.cn/detail/5206884887299002" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><em>Digital Chat Station</em></a>, who shared the details on Weibo. In his post, he revealed nearly every key detail regarding the upcoming MatePad Mini. Some of these have already been teased, while others were leaked before. But one of the key details that was revealed was the processor. Earlier reports claimed that the Chinese tech giant will pack its compact flagship tablet with the Krini 9020 SoC, which is the same chip that powers its top smartphone model, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/08/13/huawei-pura-80-ultra-dxomark-top-camera-phone/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pura 80 Ultra</a>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="741" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini--1024x741.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei MatePad Mini" class="wp-image-704537" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini--1024x741.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini--300x217.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini--768x556.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini--696x504.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini--1068x773.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini--580x420.jpg 580w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini--324x235.jpg 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Huawei MatePad Mini</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>However, DCS claims that the performance might be disappointing as the MatePad Mini could feature the Kirin 9010 chip. To recall, this processor also powered the older <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-pura-70-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pura 70 Ultra</a> model. It will reportedly be paired with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. </p>

<p>Apart from this, Huawei&#8217;s small tablet is shaping up to be quite the looker with an impressively slim 5.1mm body (the thinnest tablet of its segment). It is also expected to weigh around 255 grams. On the front, you get an 8.8-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 16:10 aspect ratio, 1600p resolution, and 2.99mm bezels. Other notable features may include 5G and WiFi only variants, 66W wired fast charging, and a punch hole selfie camera.</p>

<h3><strong>Huawei MatePad Mini design revealed</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="576" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-576x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei MatePad Mini" class="wp-image-704538" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-768x1365.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-696x1237.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-1068x1899.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-236x420.jpg 236w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-MatePad-Mini.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /><figcaption>Huawei MatePad Mini</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The MatePad Mini carries the tagline “Small tablet, big phone, light and portable as promised” (machine-translated). The teaser reveals that it features a dual rear camera setup with a camera deco design consistent with the MatePad Pro series, keeping in line with the Mate family’s design language.</p>

<p>From the side view, the device looks slim and lightweight, with only a minimal camera bump, making it more convenient for daily use. The front bezels are also well controlled, resulting in a higher screen-to-body ratio and delivering a strong sense of visual immersion when the display is lit up.</p>

<p>On the software side, the MatePad Mini will support Huawei Notes and the Born to Draw app, offering users a smooth writing and drawing experience when paired with a stylus. A network indicator in the top-right corner confirms support for a SIM card slot. Since no “4G” label is shown, it likely points to 5A-level speeds, ensuring reliable connectivity. The tablet also supports NearLink (XingLian) technology, which enables faster connections with lower latency.</p>

<h3><strong>Huawei MatePad Mini specifications (rumored)</strong></h3>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/08/31/huawei-matepad-mini-display-processor-and-battery-details-leak/">According to reports</a>, the MatePad Mini will arrive with an 8.8-inch OLED panel that offers a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate. <p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> is preparing to expand its tablet lineup with something smaller. The MatePad Mini is set to debut on September 4, but thanks to a reliable Weibo tipster who goes by Panda is very bald, we already have a good sense of what to expect.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="337" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Launch-Confirmed.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-704418" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Launch-Confirmed.jpg 337w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Launch-Confirmed-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Launch-Confirmed-236x420.jpg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 337px) 100vw, 337px" /></figure></div>

<h2><strong>Huawei MatePad Mini Specifications</strong></h2>

<p>The MatePad Mini will reportedly feature an 8.8-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is said to include a hole-punch cutout and ultra slim bezels.</p>

<p>Inside, the tablet is expected to run on Huawei’s Kirin 9020 chipset, the same processor found in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-pura-80/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei Pura 80</a> series. The chip is built with a 2.5GHz prime core, 2.15GHz performance cores, and 1.6GHz efficiency cores. Fueling the device will be a 6,500mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="376" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Specs-Leak.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-704419" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Specs-Leak.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Specs-Leak-300x125.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Specs-Leak-768x321.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Mini-Specs-Leak-696x291.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>
