Looks like Apple is keeping the Mini iPhone in 2022 after all!

According to reporting by 91mobiles, popular industry leakster, Evan Blass has shared that Apple will be launching a total of 7 new devices at the brand’s annual September Launch Event which includes the latest iPhones and iPads.

Sourcing from insider info within one of Apple’s top-tier retail channel partners in the Asia-Pacific region, Evan has gotten intel that Apple will be launching these seven iPhones and iPads at its September Launch Event: 

1. iPhone 14 Mini
2. iPhone 14
3. iPhone 14 Pro
4. iPhone 14 Pro Max
5. iPad 10.2 (10th generation)
6. iPad Pro 12.9 (6th generation)
7. iPad Pro 11 (4th generation)

The devices are reportedly supposed to be announced on September 7th at Apple Park in California, and starting from September 16th, these 7 devices are expected to start shipping out to customers in the first wave of countries in Apple’s annual launch cycle.

The news of an iPhone 14 Mini comes as a surprise as previous leaks and rumours indicated that Apple would be dropping the iPhone 14 Mini in favour of an iPhone 14 Max (or iPhone 14 Plus) due to relatively poor sales of the iPhone 13 Mini compared to its bigger screen siblings, like the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

As for the other details of the launch, previously it was rumoured that only the new iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will feature Apple’s latest A16 Bionic mobile processor, whereas the other iPhone 14 models will only feature the A15 Bionic, the same processor found on Apple’s last year’s iPhone 13 series.

As for the iPads, both the iPad Pro 12.9-inch and 11-inch models for 2022 are supposed to feature Apple’s latest M2 Apple Silicon SoC, alongside cutting-edge mini-LED displays which are currently the only tablets in the market with mini-LED displays. Meanwhile, the 10th generation entry-level iPad is getting a redesign in which the home button is now gone, allowing for a near bezel-less tablet experience, as it joins the iPad Air and iPad Pro with Apple’s modern design language for iPads.

Recently, there were rumours that the iPhone 14 series will have a complete redesign and it may have four iPhone models. Followed by this news, there was a piece of information that revealed that last year’s iPhone 12 mini didn’t have great sales in comparison to the iPhone 12 Pro Max model. It purported tipsters to suggest that Apple may ditch the mini in favour of a large-sized model. Well, now, the notorious Apple leaker Jon Prosser reveals the same information in addition to some other specs of the iPhone 14 series.

According to Prosser, next year, the iPhone 14 series will have four different models and all of them will have a redesign. Prosser had already shared creative renders of the redesigned 14 series ahead of iPhone 13 launch. The leaker is now back to suggest that it is indeed happening and the Mini is getting away.

Apple is touted to bring the iPhone 14 Max model with a large 6.7-inch display. For starters, it will be the same screen size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max model. The other two phones in the middle would be the base model iPhone 14 with a 6.1-inch screen and a Pro model with again the same screen size. Hence, there won’t be any Mini model.

The major reason for killing the Mini would be the inferior sales of the iPhone 12 Mini. In fact, a report revealed that iPhone 12 Pro Max outsold the other models, thanks to the larger screen size. That said, Apple may take the reports into consideration and offer a large-sized iPhone in the non-Pro series.
