It is common to see smartphone companies promote their models by comparing them to other models from rival brands that fall in the same product category. It is also common to see OEMs troll each other for more reason or the other as a marketing tool. But what is probably not common is a company directly offering to swap a rival brand’s model with its own. That is what Indian firm Lava is presently doing with the Realme 8s.

Turns out Lava is offering Realme 8s owners the chance to swap their units for a Lava AGNI 5G. The thing is Lava AGNI 5G and Realme 8s booth share similar specs except for a few differences. The differences lie in the display size where the AGNI 5G pack a 6.78-inch display as against a 6.5-inch screen for the Realme model. Also, the AGNI 5G packs a quad-camera setup at the rear consisting of a 64MP+5MP+2MP+2MP setup whereas the *s has a triple camera setup made up of a 64MP+2MP+2MP combo. It is left for users to decide if the offer is worth taking up considering the specs are almost similar. But then, who would like to snap a used phone for a brand new one. It sounds inviting but we can’t guarantee that you’ll get the same software experience on both models. The company will definitely be riding on the back of its popularity as an indigenous Indian brand to get this offer flying. Even at that, it is a tough nut convincing an average phone user to swap a realme model for a similarly specced Lava phone.

The offer is open to owners of both the 6GB and 8GB variants of the Realme 8s. It will run from January 3rd to January 7 and can be accessed from Lava’s e-store.
