<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/">Huawei</a> has started rolling out a new HarmonyOS update for its foldable PC, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/05/19/huawei-launches-matebook-fold-ultimate-design-its-first-foldable-laptop/">MateBook Fold</a>, bringing a long list of bug fixes and usability improvements just ahead of the holiday season.</p>

<p>The update, labeled HarmonyOS 6.0.0.120 SP1, began reaching users on December 20, 2025. According to Huawei, the release focuses on stability, display behavior, and day-to-day productivity rather than introducing major new features.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/250519-GadgetMatch-HUAWEI-MateBook-Fold-Featured-Image-B-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-720195" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/250519-GadgetMatch-HUAWEI-MateBook-Fold-Featured-Image-B-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/250519-GadgetMatch-HUAWEI-MateBook-Fold-Featured-Image-B-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/250519-GadgetMatch-HUAWEI-MateBook-Fold-Featured-Image-B-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/250519-GadgetMatch-HUAWEI-MateBook-Fold-Featured-Image-B-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/250519-GadgetMatch-HUAWEI-MateBook-Fold-Featured-Image-B-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/250519-GadgetMatch-HUAWEI-MateBook-Fold-Featured-Image-B-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/250519-GadgetMatch-HUAWEI-MateBook-Fold-Featured-Image-B-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/250519-GadgetMatch-HUAWEI-MateBook-Fold-Featured-Image-B.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>One of the more notable fixes addresses screen projection issues, including distorted or abnormal mirroring when connecting certain handheld gaming consoles. Huawei has also resolved cases where the device failed to wake properly from sleep in specific monitor modes, along with odd pop-up windows that could appear during wired display connections.</p>

<p>Several improvements target everyday productivity apps. The Gallery app now behaves more consistently when deleting images using shortcut keys and simplifies saving edited images. File Management gains quicker access to synced documents, applies view preferences across folders, integrates cloud media more smoothly into file pickers, and fixes incomplete search results when browsing cloud drives.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/11/30/huawei-smart-hanhan-ai-companion-launched-specs-price/">Huawei’s AI assistant</a>, Xiaoyi, also sees refinements. In addition to a seasonal touch—typing or saying “Happy New Year” triggers a full-screen fireworks animation—the update improves smart note handling, fixes occasional network-related sync issues, and makes continuous conversations more reliable.</p>

<p>At the system level, the update adds support for individual apps to be minimized while using split-screen mode, and expands app cloning for users managing multiple accounts. Other additions include smoother system animations, improved QR code recognition, broader app compatibility through virtualization enhancements, and the December 2025 security patch. Huawei also says several printer-related bugs have been resolved.</p>

<p>As with previous system updates, some users may notice temporary warmth or increased battery usage immediately after installation, which should settle after a few days.</p>

<p>With this SP1 release, Huawei appears focused on polishing the MateBook Fold’s software experience—an important step as foldable PCs continue to push into more mainstream productivity use.</p>

<p>While many of these devices are China-exclusive, they reflect how far the company has come in design, materials, and software integration. Here’s a detailed look at all the Huawei foldables currently available for purchase in 2025.</p>

<h3><strong>Mate XTs | Ultimate Design</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-Mate-XTs-launch-specs-price.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei-Mate-XTs-launch-specs-price" class="wp-image-705182" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-Mate-XTs-launch-specs-price.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-Mate-XTs-launch-specs-price-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-Mate-XTs-launch-specs-price-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-Mate-XTs-launch-specs-price-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Huawei-Mate-XTs-launch-specs-price-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Huawei introduced the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-xts/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate XTs Ultimate Design</a> as a follow-up to last year’s Mate XT. The device retains its tri-fold design that transitions from a 6.4-inch smartphone into a 10.2-inch tablet, with an intermediate 7.9-inch mode. The display uses COE pixel super light-transmitting technology, cutting power consumption by 13%.</p>

<p>The phone includes M-Pen 3 stylus support, a reinforced Tiangong hinge system, and aerospace-grade materials. The outer and inner hinge strengths have increased by 23% and 16% respectively, and the screen&#8217;s impact resistance has improved by 30%. The Kirin 9020 processor replaces the older Kirin 9000, improving performance by 36%.</p>

<p>On the camera front, Huawei keeps the 50MP variable aperture main sensor, upgrades the ultra-wide to 40MP with a 2.5cm macro mode, and adds a 1.5MP multispectral sensor. The Mate XTs continues to use a 5600mAh silicon-carbon battery with support for 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.</p>

<p><strong>Price:</strong> Starts at 17,999 yuan (~$2520)</p>

<h3><strong>Pura X</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Huawei-Pura-X-5-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Pura X" class="wp-image-678291" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Huawei-Pura-X-5-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Huawei-Pura-X-5-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Huawei-Pura-X-5-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Huawei-Pura-X-5-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Huawei-Pura-X-5-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Huawei-Pura-X-5-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Huawei-Pura-X-5-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Huawei-Pura-X-5.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Huawei launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-pura-x/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pura X</a> as a high-end flip phone with a taller-than-usual 6.3-inch inner OLED screen in a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 3.5-inch square outer display. Both screens support LTPO 2.0 with 1-120Hz adaptive refresh and 1440Hz PWM dimming.</p>

<p>The rear cameras include a 50MP RYYB main sensor, a 40MP ultra-wide with macro capability, and an 8MP 3.5x telephoto lens. Huawei also adds a 1.5MP multispectral sensor. The phone supports IPX8 waterproofing, satellite communication, and a titanium alloy frame with a basalt hinge.</p>

<p>It runs on the Kirin 9020 chipset and packs a 4720mAh dual silicon-carbon battery that supports 66W wired and 40W wireless charging.</p>

<p><strong>Price:</strong> Starts at 7,499 yuan (~$1050)</p>

<h3><strong>Mate X6</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="960" height="640" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-X6-Cosmic-Red.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate X6" class="wp-image-661905" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-X6-Cosmic-Red.jpg 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-X6-Cosmic-Red-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-X6-Cosmic-Red-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-X6-Cosmic-Red-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-X6-Cosmic-Red-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></figure></div>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-x6/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate X6</a>, launched last year, uses a 7.93-inch internal foldable screen and a 6.45-inch outer display, both with LTPO panels, 120Hz refresh, and high brightness levels up to 2500 nits. The second-generation Kunlun Glass protects the external panel, while a carbon fiber plate reinforces the inner display.</p>

<p>Huawei equips the Mate X6 with a 50MP main camera with a physical aperture ranging from f/1.0 to f/4.0. The setup also includes a 40MP ultra-wide lens, a 48MP 4x periscope telephoto lens, and a 1.5MP Ultra Chroma spectral sensor for improved color accuracy.</p>

<p>It skips 5G in the global variant. Under the hood, a 5110mAh battery powers the device, with 66W wired and 50W wireless charging support.</p>

<p><strong>Price:</strong> AED 4999 (~$1,360)</p>

<h3><strong>Nova Flip S</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Nova-Flip-design-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Nova Flip" class="wp-image-642288" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Nova-Flip-design-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Nova-Flip-design-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Nova-Flip-design-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Nova-Flip-design-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Nova-Flip-design-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Nova-Flip-design-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Nova-Flip-design.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Huawei Nova Flip </figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Huawei introduced the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/17/huawei-nova-flip-s-launches-as-the-most-affordable-foldable-from-huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nova Flip S</a> as the most affordable foldable in its lineup. The phone features a 6.94-inch inner OLED panel with a resolution of 2690 x 1136 and a 2.14-inch square external screen. The display supports LTPO refresh from 1-120Hz.</p>

<p>The design remains similar to the original <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-nova-flip/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nova Flip</a>, weighing 195g and measuring 6.9mm thick when unfolded. Huawei added new color options and a set of software enhancements for the external display, including pinned widgets and live info tiles.</p>

<p>It uses a 4400mAh battery with 66W wired charging. The camera setup consists of a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP front camera. Huawei did not disclose the chipset, but ships the device with HarmonyOS 5.1.</p>

<p><strong>Price:</strong> Starts at 3,488 yuan (~$490)</p>

<p>Yes, this is a foldable laptop, and yes, it’s just as ridiculous as it sounds, in the best way possible. The laptop unfolds into an 18-inch 3.3K OLED panel. When closed, it offers a 13-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio. The laptop weighs 1.16kg and has a thickness of 7.3mm at its slimmest point.</p>

<p>The screen features LTPO technology, 1600 nits peak brightness, and 1440Hz PWM dimming. Huawei uses a basalt waterdrop hinge with a three-stage shaft for precision and strength. Internally, it features a 32GB RAM setup with up to 2TB PCIe SSD storage and runs HarmonyOS 5.</p>

<p>The device supports HarmonyOS ecosystem features across phones, tablets, watches, and other Huawei devices. It uses a 74.69Wh battery with 140W USB-C fast charging.</p>

<p><strong>Price:</strong> Starts at 23,999 yuan (~$3360)</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/computex-2025/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Computex 2025</a> event is live right now, and we&#8217;ve already seen a bunch of innovative new launches. But one of the coolest announcements included laptops this year, which showed off bold designs, experimental form factors, and impressive features. These laptops push the boundaries of portable computing, so here are some of the most unique models that were showcased during the major tech event.</p>

<h3>Huawei MateBook Fold Ultimate Design</h3>

<p>While foldable laptops aren&#8217;t a new concept, they are still not a dime a dozen. But the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/05/19/huawei-launches-matebook-fold-ultimate-design-its-first-foldable-laptop/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MateBook Fold Ultimate Design from Huawei</a> is the latest foldable notebook on the block. It sports a tall 18-inch LTPO OLED display that offers 3.3K resolution, a 4:3 aspect ratio, and a compact form that matches a 13-inch laptop when folded. This model is a thin and light notebook, which measures just 7.3mm thick and weighs 1.16 kilograms. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-1024x512.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design" class="wp-image-687407" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-840x420.jpg 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Huawei MateBook Fold Ultimate Design</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The MateBook Fold Ultimate Design is a premium model with a leather finish. Huawei claims that this laptop has the largest folding hinge, measuring 285mm. It is also one of the first HarmonyOS powered laptops that promise to deliver a seamless ecosystem with other HarmonyOS devices. </p>

<h3>Razer Blade 14</h3>

<p>Unlike the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design, the Razer Blade 14 has a more conventional design. However, its build is still one of the most notable aspects. Razer&#8217;s Blade series is known for offering powerful specs at a compact build, and the 2025 Blade 14 doesn&#8217;t disappoint. It measures just 15.7mm at its slimmest point and weighs 1.63 kilograms. This makes it the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/05/20/razer-blade-14-2025-laptop-launched/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">thinnest 14-inch gaming laptop</a> on the market.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/httpsmedias-p1.phoenix.razer_.com_-1024x683.jpg?x44794" alt="Razer Blade 14 2025" class="wp-image-687498" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/httpsmedias-p1.phoenix.razer_.com_-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/httpsmedias-p1.phoenix.razer_.com_-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/httpsmedias-p1.phoenix.razer_.com_-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/httpsmedias-p1.phoenix.razer_.com_-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/httpsmedias-p1.phoenix.razer_.com_-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/httpsmedias-p1.phoenix.razer_.com_-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/httpsmedias-p1.phoenix.razer_.com_.jpg 1500w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>As the name suggests, it sports a 14-inch OLED display with a 2.8K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut. But what really impresses is the fact that it packs an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 CPU and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 GPU under the hood. The CPU also offers up to 50 TOPS of AI performance and can be paired with up to 64GB of RAM. Considering how the RTX 5070 is also one of Nvidia&#8217;s latest graphics cards, this is a beast of a machine in such a slim body.</p>

<h3>Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (2025)</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="676" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2025-1024x676.webp?x44794" alt="Unique Laptops Announced at Computex 2025" class="wp-image-687908" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2025-1024x676.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2025-300x198.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2025-768x507.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2025-1536x1014.webp 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2025-2048x1352.webp 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2025-696x459.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2025-1068x705.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2025-1920x1267.webp 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2025-636x420.webp 636w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Lenovo Yoga Book 9i 2025</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Lenovo&#8217;s Yoga Book 9i is a next gen dual-display laptop that was unveiled at the tech expo. The 2025 edition brings upgrades with taller 14-inch dual OLED screens with a 120Hz variable refresh rate support. Combining this with a 360 degree hinge, wide color coverage, and more, the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (2025) has even been touted as one of the best content creation laptops. It is even powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 255H that packs enough horsepower and AI capabilities. </p>

<h3>MSI Prestige 13 AI+ Ukiyo-e Edition &amp; Prestige 16 AI+ Mercedes-AMG Motorsport </h3>

<p>During the Computex 2025 event, MSI announced a bunch of new products, with one of the highlights being the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/05/20/new-msi-claw-a8-is-the-latest-rival-to-the-switch-2-steam-deck-ai-ryzen-z2-apu-more/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MSI Claw A8 gaming handheld</a>. Even the laptop lineup got some notable announcements, but the latest collaborations stood out the most. The first is the Prestige 13 AI+ Ukiyo-e Edition that features Hokusai’s “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” on the top lid, which even received the COMPUTEX Best Choice Award for blending classical art with modern computing.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="650" height="219" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/MSI-Prestige-13-AI-Ukiyo-e-Edition.jpg?x44794" alt="Unique Laptops Announced at Computex 2025" class="wp-image-687895" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/MSI-Prestige-13-AI-Ukiyo-e-Edition.jpg 650w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/MSI-Prestige-13-AI-Ukiyo-e-Edition-300x101.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px" /><figcaption>MSI Prestige 13 AI+ Ukiyo-e Edition</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The second collaboration is with a racing brand, which is the Stealth A16 AI+ Mercedes-AMD Motorsport. This carries the iconic Mercedes AMG branding on the top lid with the MSI logo. Both models pack cutting edge specs like the Intel Core Ultra 9 288V and AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processors. While the Prestige 13 is a thin and light model, the Stealth 16 is a powerful laptop with up to an RTX 5070 GPU.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei </a>has officially entered the foldable laptop category. The company today unveiled the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design, its first commercial notebook with a folding display.&nbsp; But the device is notable in more than one way. </p>

<p>It’s also the first to debut with in-house <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/05/08/huawei-takes-on-windows-and-macos-with-harmonyos-for-pcs/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HarmonyOS for PC</a> with its own chip inside (more on that later). But no prize for guessing, the biggest highlight of the MateBook Fold is its display.</p>

<h2><strong>Design and Display</strong></h2>

<p>It unfolds to reveal an 18-inch screen with a 3.3K resolution in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Fold it shut, and it becomes a more compact 13-inch machine.&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-1024x512.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-687407" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-840x420.jpg 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The panel itself uses dual-layer LTPO OLED with a dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 and peak brightness of 1600 nits. There&#8217;s a carbon fiber support layer under the screen, which is said to triple the display&#8217;s impact resistance.</p>

<p>For all its design flexibility, the MateBook Fold doesn&#8217;t stray far from Huawei&#8217;s broader design language. It weighs 1.16kg and measures just 7.3mm thick when unfolded. It’s still an unusually thin and lightweight machine for this kind of hardware.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The body features a leather finish and is available in three colors: Forged Shadow Black, Sky White, and Cloud Blue. The black variant has a few extra flair to it. It has what Huawei calls a “Forging Shadow Cloud Pattern” on the back with a “Black Gold Waistline” design.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-in-Forged-Black.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-687403" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-in-Forged-Black.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-in-Forged-Black-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-in-Forged-Black-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-in-Forged-Black-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Ultimate-Design-in-Forged-Black-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>The folding mechanism is also central to the MateBook Fold’s design. It uses what Huawei claims is the industry’s largest folding hinge at 285mm. The hinge has a three-stage shaft with uniform torque to improve both the feel and precision of the opening and closing mechanism.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The hinge itself opens and closes in a water-drop shape, which Huawei says helps reduce stress on the screen when folded. The company is also touting a 400% increase in hovering torque and double the machining accuracy for the spindle.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Hinge.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-687404" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Hinge.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Hinge-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Hinge-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Hinge-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-MateBook-Fold-Hinge-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>That hinge has functional benefits, too. It supports flexible angles for ergonomic use, from a barely open 0 degrees up to a stable hover at 150 degrees. The cooling system has been upgraded to match, with a diamond aluminum dual-fan setup and an ultra-thin anti-gravity vapor chamber to help maintain performance under load.</p>

<h2><strong>Performance and Software</strong></h2>

<p>Under the hood, the MateBook Fold runs on Huawei’s in-house silicon—although details about the specific chip remain vague. It boots on PC, the company’s own operating system.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The latest version, HarmonyOS 5, brings a handful of new features, including “one system, unified ecology,” meant to help unify mobile and desktop experiences.&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/HarmonyOS-for-PC-in-Huawei-MateBook-Fold.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-687409" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/HarmonyOS-for-PC-in-Huawei-MateBook-Fold.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/HarmonyOS-for-PC-in-Huawei-MateBook-Fold-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/HarmonyOS-for-PC-in-Huawei-MateBook-Fold-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/HarmonyOS-for-PC-in-Huawei-MateBook-Fold-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/HarmonyOS-for-PC-in-Huawei-MateBook-Fold-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>It supports distributed soft bus interconnection, which allows for higher-speed file sharing and multitasking across devices. Huawei says data transfer speeds can hit 160MB/s, and the system now supports up to four concurrent device connections.</p>

<p>The laptop also introduces a range of touch and gesture controls. You can swipe up to view videos and down to see comments, or cast one part of the screen while interacting with another.</p>

<p>&nbsp; There are also more unusual inputs like five-finger “waterfall screen browsing” and eight-finger taps to bring up the virtual keyboard. It’s not entirely clear how intuitive these gestures are in real-world use, but they mark a clear attempt to differentiate the device’s UI experience from other Windows-based hybrids.</p>

<h2><strong>Price and Availability</strong></h2>

<p>Huawei has priced the MateBook Fold in the premium bracket. The 32GB + 1TB variant comes in Sky White or Cloud Blue and costs 23,999 yuan (roughly $3,300). The top-tier 32GB + 2TB model in Forged Shadow Black is 26,999 yuan (~$3,720). The device is now available for reservations in China from <a href="http://vmall.com/product/comdetail/index.html?prdId=10086297718748&amp;cid=343316" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vmall</a>.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> is set to unveil its first foldable-screen laptop on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/05/15/huawei-teases-its-first-foldable-pc-leak-reveals-ram-storage-and-color-option/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">May 19</a>—that&#8217;s this Monday. Likely named the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design, the device marks Huawei’s entry into the niche, but steadily growing, category of foldable PCs.</p>

<p>Huawei has been in the foldable game since the early days of foldable smartphones, and it&#8217;s now bringing that expertise to a larger canvas. The company clearly sees foldable laptops as the next frontier — and it’s using years of R&amp;D from its phone lineup to try and get a head start.</p>

<p>The MateBook Fold will go head-to-head with foldable devices from Lenovo and Asus. The two brands have been exploring unconventional laptop designs like foldables for a few years now.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Huawei-foldable-PC.jpg?x44794" alt="" /></figure></div>

<p>According to early reports, Huawei&#8217;s foldable laptop will feature a foldable OLED display, run on the company’s own HarmonyOS, and be powered by the in-house Kirin X90 processor. It’s also rumored to ship with 32GB of RAM and a massive 2TB of storage.</p>

<p>Ahead of the launch, let’s take a quick look at some of the most interesting foldable PCs on the market right now.</p>

<h3><strong>Asus Zenbook Duo (2024)</strong></h3>

<p>The 2024 Zenbook Duo is Asus’s most recent experiment in dual-screen productivity. It comes equipped with two 14-inch 3K OLED touch displays, a detachable Bluetooth keyboard, and enough flexibility to turn the laptop into a portable workstation when laid flat. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Asus-Zenbook-Duo-1024x683.jpg?x44794" alt="Asus Zenbook Duo" class="wp-image-619071" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Asus-Zenbook-Duo-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Asus-Zenbook-Duo-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Asus-Zenbook-Duo-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Asus-Zenbook-Duo-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Asus-Zenbook-Duo-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Asus-Zenbook-Duo-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Asus-Zenbook-Duo-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Asus-Zenbook-Duo-1920x1280.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Asus-Zenbook-Duo-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Combined, the two screens offer a nearly 20-inch workspace, allowing for extended vertical or side-by-side multitasking. It’s powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 9 processor and 32GB of LPDDR5x memory, placing it in high-performance territory on paper.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The laptop is fueled by a sizeable 75Wh 4-cell Li-ion battery with 65W charging support. Talking of the I/O options, this premium laptop consists of a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.1 TMDS port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Wireless connectivity includes WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.</p>

<h3><strong>Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (2024)</strong></h3>

<p>Lenovo&#8217;s Yoga Book 9i (2024) debuted around the same time as the ZenBook Duo. However, it features slightly smaller dual 13.3-inch OLED screens with a 3.2K resolution (3200 × 2000), a 165Hz refresh rate, and a 16:10 aspect ratio.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The device comes with a folio stand and magnetic keyboard, allowing it to switch between laptop, book, tent, and vertical dual-screen modes. It runs on Intel’s Meteor Lake Core Ultra chips (up to Ultra 9 H), and configurations can include an NVIDIA RTX 4070 GPU with 8GB of GDDR6X VRAM.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2024-1-1024x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-605743" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2024-1-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2024-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2024-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2024-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2024-1-1536x1536.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2024-1-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2024-1-1068x1068.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2024-1-1920x1920.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2024-1-420x420.jpg 420w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Lenovo-Yoga-Book-9i-2024-1.jpg 2000w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 16 (Gen 9) now packs a larger 84Wh battery, which is a 12% increase over the 75Wh unit in the Gen 8 model. Paired with the more efficient Meteor Lake chips, this should deliver comparatively better battery life.</p>

<p>In terms of connectivity, you get Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 on the wireless side. Physical ports include two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a single Thunderbolt 4 port, HDMI 2.0, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a full-sized SD card reader. The laptop also comes with Lenovo’s ‘Creator Zone’ application, which hosts features like AI image generator.</p>

<h3><strong>GPD Duo</strong></h3>

<p>The GPD Duo is a different kind of multi-screen device, designed with gaming in mind. It’s less polished, more experimental, and targeted at an audience willing to embrace eccentricity.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It has a tri-fold form factor and dual hinges that reveal an 18-inch vertical display setup when fully extended. It&#8217;s a niche proposition, to be sure; more of a tool for coders, content editors, or mobile workstation users than general consumers. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="831" height="847" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/image-54.png?x44794" alt="GPD DUO Dual-Screen Laptop" class="wp-image-655226" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/image-54.png 831w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/image-54-294x300.png 294w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/image-54-768x783.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/image-54-696x709.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/image-54-412x420.png 412w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/image-54-356x364.png 356w" sizes="(max-width: 831px) 100vw, 831px" /></figure></div>

<p>At the heart of the GPD Duo is a choice between two impressive AMD Ryzen processors: the Ryzen 7 8840U and the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370.</p>

<p>The device is fueled by an 80Wh cell and comes with a USB 4.0 Type-C, HDMI 2.1, and USB 3.2 Gen 2, ensuring compatibility with external displays and accessories.</p>

<h3><strong>Challenges in the Foldable Laptop Market</strong></h3>

<p>While these innovative designs offer new ways to work and create, they also come with trade-offs. Battery life often suffers due to the power demands of multiple high-resolution displays. Durability is another concern, as foldable and dual-screen devices introduce more points of potential failure. It’s also difficult to optimize software for foldable screens, as this is such a niche market.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Huawei’s entry into this space with the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design could help grow the category. And the company is leveraging its own hardware and software ecosystem to do so. However, the success of this device will ultimately depend on real-world performance and user adoption.</p>
