Microsoft Surface Pro 9 & Surface Laptop 5 are up for pre-order in India

Last month, Microsoft debuted the new Surface Laptop 5 and the Surface Pro 9 2-in-1 tablets in multiple markets. The devices are soon to be made available in India as the company has opened pre-orders for them. Let’s take a look at the pricing and availability details along with the deals offered by the brand on these devices.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 Pricing and availability

Starting today, both the Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 are available for pre-order in India via authorized retailers such as Amazon.in, Reliance Digital, Croma, Vijay Sales, and select multi-brand stores.

The Surface Laptop 5 has a starting price of Rs 1,07,999 and goes all the way up to Rs 1,90,699 for the top configuration. On the other hand, the Surface Pro 9 has a starting price of Rs 1,05,999 and goes up to 2,69,599 for the top-end configuration. You can checkout the detailed pricing of the various configurations in the image given below.

Customers who purchase a Surface Pro 9 will receive a complimentary Surface Pro Keyboard (black) worth Rs. 14,999, while those who purchase a Surface Laptop 5 will receive a complimentary Surface Pop red Arc Mouse valued at Rs. 7,499 each. The devices will start retailing from November 29 in the country.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 specifications and features

A 13.5-inch and 15-inch screen size are available for the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5. The PixelSense display on the device has a resolution of 2256 x 1504 pixels, a 3:2 aspect ratio, a contrast ratio of 1300:1, and Dolby Vision IQ compatibility. The machine has Windows 11 preinstalled.

The Intel Core i5-1235U/i7-1255U processor is included in the 13.5-inch Surface Laptop, while the Core i7-1255U chip is included in the 15-inch model. All models have 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of SSD storage and 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB of LPDDR5x RAM.

Battery life for the 13.5-inch model is up to 18 hours, while that for the bigger variant is up to 17 hours. It has one USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port, one USB-A port, one Surface Connect port, a 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, and Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity. Other features include support for the Surface Pen, Windows Hello facial sign-in, Omnisonic speakers with Dolby Atmos, and dual far-field microphones. The 13.5-inch model also has a keyboard finish made of Alcantara.

The Surface Pro 9 features a 13-inch display with 2,880 x 1,920 pixels resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 3:2 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device features the Intel Alder Lake-U processor, nemely the Core i5-1235U or the Core i7-1255U. The company offers 28 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage options in addition to 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM for the device.

The Surface Pro 9 supports both Windows Hello facial authentication and Microsoft’s Surface Connect port. Despite the Surface Pro 9 having two USB Type-C ports (USB 4.0/Thunderbolt 4), there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack.

According to Microsoft, The 47.7 Wh battery on the Surface Pro 9 should last up to 15:30 hours with typical usage. The device comes in the typical Platinum, Sapphire, Forest, and Graphite colours.

A couple of weeks back, Microsoft announced a new lineup of Surface devices, including the Surface Laptop 5, Surface Pro 9, Surface Studio 2+, and more. Now, the Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 are available for purchase in the Chinese market.

The new Microsoft Surface devices can be purchased thorugh the company’s official store. The company is also offering an educational discount of 10 percent, and there are a few other discount offers.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is a first-generation device after the company basically merged the Surface Pro X and Surface Pro lineup. The device has an aluminum build and weighs 878 grams. As for the pricing, the device starts at 7,788 yuan, which is about $1,066.

It features a 13-inch display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate, a 3:2 aspect ratio, a 2880 x 1920 pixels screen resolution, and a 1200:1 contrast ratio. Under the hood, the device is powered by Intel’s 12th generation processors while the 5G models come powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor.

As for the memory, the device is packed with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. There are two USB-C interfaces with Thunderbolt 4 support at the side of the device, while the volume keys and the power button are placed at the top edge. Coming to the battery life, the company claims 19 hours of usage on the Qualcomm-powered model.

The newly released Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 comes in two screen sizes — 13.5-inch and 15-inch. The PixelSense display on the device offers a 2496 x 1664 pixels screen resolution (2256 x 1504 for the 13.5-inch model), a 3:2 aspect ratio, a 1300:1 contrast ratio, and Dolby Vision IQ support.

Under the hood, the device comes powered by the Intel 12th generation Core-series processors, and as of now, there are no AMD-powered models launched. It packs up to 32GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage.

It comes with 1 x USB-C Thunderbolt 4, 1 x USB-A, 1 x Surface Connect port, a 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, and Bluetooth 5.0. In the software department, the device runs the Windows 11 operating system and has support for Windows Hello face sign-in and Surface Pen. The company claims that the 13.5-inch model offers up to 18 hours of battery life, while the larger model offers up to 17 hours.

Microsoft held a launch event earlier today where it announced new devices and hardware. Among the launched products, the company debuted the new Surface Surface Pro 9 convertible (laptop-to-tablet PC). The device brings modest updates compared to the Surface Pro 8 along with new color options. So, let’s take a look at the device in more detail.

Starting off, the Surface Pro 9 retains the 13-inch display of its predecessor along with the 2,880 x 1,920 pixels, 120 Hz, and a 3:2 aspect ratio. It weighs around 879 grams and comes with updated Alder Lake-U processors.

The device is available with the Core i5-1235U or the Core i7-1255U. These processors have a 15W base power draw. RAM options on the device include 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and the company offers 28 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB of removable storage options.

Microsoft’s Surface Connect port and Windows Hello facial authentication are both supported by the Surface Pro 9 as usual. A 3.5 mm headphone jack is absent from the Surface Pro 9, despite Microsoft including two USB Type-C connectors (USB 4.0/Thunderbolt 4).

Microsoft claims that the Surface Pro 9’s 47.7 Wh battery should last up to 15:30 hours, which is probably an incredibly optimistic battery estimate. The Surface Pro 9 is available in the expected colorways of Platinum, Sapphire, Forest, and Graphite.

Pricing & availability

At launch, prices start from US$999.99 with the Core i5-1235U, 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. The Core i5-1235U model is limited to 256 GB of storage. Whereas the Core-i7-1255U gets an additional 512 GB and 1 TB storage options. You can look at the full pricing of different configurations on Microsoft’s website. Do note that these pricings don’t include the Type Cover or the Slim Pen 2.

The Surface Pro 9 is now available for purchase in many regions, and US shipment will begin on October 25. On the other hand, the device won’t be accessible in places like the UK until early November.
