HMD Global launched the Nokia 3.2 in early 2019 with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. The smartphone was later updated to Android 10 last year. Now, it has even started receiving the much-awaited Android 11 update.

Back in October 2020, HMD Global shared its Android 11 update plan for eligible devices. According to the schedule, the company is supposed to release the update for Nokia 3.2 in Q3 2021.

However, the firm has begun to roll out the update for this handset earlier. As per a Nokia Phones Community post (via NokiaPowerUser), the update is currently being pushed in batches.

The first wave includes the following 34 countries.

Even in the above-mentioned regions, the update is only available for 10% of the users right now. But by March 26, 50% of users will have got the update, followed by 100% on March 28. In other words, users of Nokia 3.2 in these countries should get Android 11 via OTA update by the end of this month.

That said, HMD Global has not revealed when users in other nations will be getting the update. Anyway, though Android 11 is the last major software update for the Nokia 3.2, the smartphone should receive security updates for one more year.

This is April, and if you own a Nokia phone that is yet to get the Android 10 update you should be excited. According to HMD Global’s rollout schedule, a total of seven devices should get the update this month. Last week, the Nokia 7.2, which is one of the phones on the list, got updated. Today, it is the turn of the Nokia 3.2.

The Nokia 3.2 was announced last June as an affordable budget phone. The Android One device ran Android Pie out of the box, so this is its first major OS upgrade. Based on Nokia’s promise of 2 years of Android OS upgrades, the Nokia 3.2 should get Android 11 next year.

The Android 10 update which comes in at 1.3GB brings new features such as Dark Mode, Smart Reply, new gesture navigation, and additional controls for privacy and location. It also comes with March 2020’s security patch.

Nokia says this is a staged roll-out. The first wave of countries to get it include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Cambodia, and twenty more other countries. The press release says 10% of the approved markets should get the update today, 50% should get it by April 10, and 100% of the countries in the first wave should get it by April 12th. There will be a second wave of countries for the update later.

Going by HMD Global’s release schedule, the Nokia 3.2 should get a successor next month or in June. The device should arrive as the Nokia 3.3.

Other Nokia devices expected to get the Android 10 update soon include the Nokia 2.3, the Nokia 4.2, the Nokia 6.2, the Nokia 3.1 Plus, and the Nokia 8 Sirocco. Do note that the update may not arrive in the order listed above.

HMD Global’s two entry-level smartphones in the Indian market — Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2 have received a price cut of Rs. 500. With this price cut, the Nokia 3.2 now starts at Rs. 8,490 (approximately $122) for the 2GB RAM model while the 3GB RAM model costs Rs. 10,290 (~$147).

When launched, the Nokia 3.2 was priced at Rs. 8,990 for the base model and Rs. 10,790 for the 3GB RAM model. On the other hand, the Nokia 4.2 (Full Specs) is available for Rs. 10,490 (approximately $150), down from its original pricing of Rs. 10,990.

The Nokia 3.2 comes with a 6.29-inch HD+ a-Si TFT LCD display with 720 x 1520 pixels screen resolution having an aspect ratio of 19:9. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 SoC, with up to 3GB of RAM.

In the camera department, it comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel camera on the front with support for Face Unlock. The 3GB RAM model also features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It has dedicated dual SIM and microSD slots and packs a 4000mAh battery with 10W fast charging support.

The Nokia 4.2 flaunts a 5.71-inch IPS LCD display with a water drop notch and an HD+ screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 439 chipset and comes in 3GB RAM + 32GB storage model in India. The company has not launched the 2GB RAM variant in India.

It comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera along with a 2-megapixel secondary camera for portrait shots and an 8-megapixel camera sensor on the front. The phone is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery while there is equally a dedicated Google Assistant button.

After unveiling the Nokia 4.2 a month ago, HMD Global has now launched Nokia 3.2 in India. The new device carries improved specification and form factor than the more affordable Nokia 4.2. It is available in two different size variants of 2GB RAM + 16GB internal and 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage. Nokia 3.2 will be on sale from May 23 via offline as-well-as online retail outlets in India.

Nokia 3.2 Specification

The Nokia 3.2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 processor coupled with Adreno 504 GPU. It carries a 6.29-inch HD+ a-Si TFT LCD with 720 x 1520 pixels resolution having an aspect ratio of 19:9. Its waterdrop notch embeds a 5-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 1.12um pixel size for selfies. Whereas, a single 13-megapixel sensor with a dedicated LED unit is present on the rear side.

A new dedicated button for Google Assistant is present on the device. It is a part of the Android One program and runs on Android 9 Pie out of the box. In connectivity, Nokia 3.2 comes with Bluetooth 4.2, micro USB, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS/BeiDou, and 4G VoLTE. Unlike the flagship devices, it supports a 3.5 mm headphone jack and micro USB interface. Other features include a 4000 mAh battery with 10W charging, rear fingerprint sensor (32 GB internal storage version only) and Qualcomm aptX technology for better sound quality.

Nokia 3.2 with 2GB RAM + 16GB internal is available for Rs 8,990 and 3GB RAM + 32GB internal retails at Rs 10,790. Buyers can choose between two color options of Back and Steel. Nokia 3.2 is available with several launch offers.

HMD Global Oy could be prepping the launch of the Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2 for the Indian market. The company has now listed the two models on its official India website. The listing did not reveal the price nor the launch date of the models but they act as clues that the duo would soon hit India. The Nokia 3.2 16 GB and 32 GB editions are respectively priced at $139 and $169 in Europe while the 4.2 starts at $169. We don’t expect the prices in India to be too different.

The Nokia 3.2 and 4.2 were both launched at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February this year. The phones were dropped alongside the penta-lens enabled Nokia 9 PureView as well as the budget-friendly Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 210  feature phone.

The two models are the first Nokia phones to feature the Water drop notch design. As a reminder, the Nokia 3.2 sports a 6.26-inch a-Si TFT LCD display with a waterdrop notch that delivers 720 x 1520 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. The Nokia 4.2 is powered by a Snapdragon 439 chipset and it is available in 2GB+16GB and 3GB+32GB memory variants. The phone is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery while there is equally a dedicated Google Assistant button. The budget model comes with top features such as NFC with Google pay support and Bluetooth 4.2. It is available in Pink Sand and Black.

Nokia 3.2 Specifications and Price

It is the first mainstream smartphone after the Alcatel 3L phone to arrive with a Snapdragon 429 processor paired with 2GB or 3GB of RAM. The handset is fueled by a 4,000mAh battery.

The Android 9 Pie OS comes preinstalled on the Nokia 3.2. Apart from internal storage choices of 16 GB and 32 GB, it is equipped with a microSD card slot. Only the 32 GB edition of the phone features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It has face unlock which HMD Global claims works in low-light and unlocks in just 2 seconds. It features a dedicated key for Google Assistant and a notification LED that is baked into the power button.

For photography, it is fitted with an f/2.2 aperture 13-megapixel rear camera and an f/2.2. aperture 5-megapixel front-facing camera with support for face unlock. The 16 GB and 32 GB editions of the Nokia 3.2 are respectively priced at $139 and $169. Black and Steel are the two color variants of the smartphone. Availability of the phone is scheduled for early May.

Nokia 4.2 Specifications and Price

The Nokia 4.2 has a slightly smaller 5.71-inch waterdrop notch enabled IPS LCD display that supports HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 439 drives the smartphone.

A dual camera setup is available on the backside of the phone. It includes f/2.2 autofocus enabled 13-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. For capturing selfies, it has a front-facing camera of 8-megapixel. It is equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and has support for face unlock. There is a dedicated Google Assistant key and a notification LED is baked into the power button just like on the Nokia 3.2. It also has NFC with Google pay support and Bluetooth 4.2 and packs a 3,000mAh battery.

The Nokia 4.2 comes in two options – 2 GB RAM + 16 GB storage and 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage. Both are expandable via a MicroSD card slot (400GB max.).  They are priced at $169 and $199 respectively. It is available in Pink Sand and Black and will be available for purchase in April.
