Nokia has made a comeback, but for now, it’s limited to the Chinese market. But with the company hinting its presence at MWC 2017, we can expect newer and faster smartphones to be announced at the big event and these phones could be even released internationally.

Ever since Nokia 6 became official, we have been getting reports about a true flagship in the works from HMD Global, most likely releasing under the Nokia P1 or Nokia 8 name. The phone is said to feature Snapdragon 835 but that may not be the case, because Samsung seems to be getting the sole initial supply of SD835, at least according to this report. This is why LG G6 could end up with last year’s Snapdragon 821 and even the Xiaomi Mi 6 is said to come with an underclocked version of Snapdragon 835. So, even the Nokia 8 could feature SD821 or an underclocked SD835. At this moment, it’s early to say for sure what’s going to be the case. Apart from a powerful chip inside, the new Nokia P1 flagship is said to feature a 2K display and IP57 dust resistance.

RELATED: Nokia P1 Concept Showcases Premium Design of the Flagship Smartphone

There have been a lot of other good things being said about the Nokia 8 / P1 model like Sharp IGZO 2K display, multiple variants for the body including one ceramic edition, 24MP rear camera etc. But how many features among these will actually end up on the flagship model is not yet sure.

Anyway, save the date, February 26, 2017. This will be a one-hour event according to the leaked invite, starting at 16:30 and going for an hour up till 17:30. If this is indeed the case, we will soon get to see invites being sent out to everyone in the next couple of weeks. So stay tuned!

Earlier this month, rumors started swirling that the Nokia P1, the alleged flagship from the company was spotted at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 at Qualcomm’s booth. However, the chip manufacturer denied the rumors and said it was only a reference unit. Concept Creator, that has created concept images of Galaxy S8 and iPhone has also created Nokia P1 concept based on the rumors of the device.

The video does not contain any information on the specifications of the device. However, only few details on the specs are revealed in the name of the video. It states that the Nokia P1 features a 22.3-megapixel rear camera, 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage.

The Nokia P1 concept video shows that the device features a hybrid SIM slot at the bottom part of the left side of the device. Its rear camera is enabled with triple LED flash along with a Nokia logo at the center. The right edge of the device seems to house a display lock/unlock button and volume controllers.

Related: Did Nokia kind of confirm a Snapdragon 835 Flagship in the works?

At the bottom, it seems to sport a 3.5 mm audio jack, a USB Type-C port and an external speaker. Below the display is a physical home button that probably features a fingerprint scanner. The smartphone seems to house a large display with super-slim bezels. Above the display, there is a selfie shooter and another Nokia logo.

As far as the design of Nokia P1 is concerned, it bears a premium appeal as its sports a metal unibody chassis like Nokia 6 along with chamfered edges. The device is shown in three colors, white, silver and black.

Rumors have revealed the Nokia P1 would be fueled by Snapdragon 835 chip. It is expected to feature a 5.3-inch quad HD IGZO display from Sharp. Some of the other features of Nokia P1 include a 3,500 mAh battery, and Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

There is no confirmation on whether the Nokia P1 will be announced at the upcoming MWC 2017. Some rumors have also stated that the company may unveil it in the second half of the year.

Earlier rumors had tipped the expected smartphone as Nokia 8 and later on, renders of a Qualcomm smartphone exhibited at CES 2017 was identified as the expected Nokia 8 until Qualcomm debunked that assertion. Now, it is rumored that the expected Nokia flagship smartphone is actually called Nokia P1 and it packs way more features than we thought.

The rumor seem to have emanated from Russia and it tips the Nokia P1 as packing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. Other key features of note is that the flagship would sport a 5.3-inch IGZO display with a refresh rate of 1 to 120Hz. The display is further protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Read More: Qualcomm Says Snapdragon 835 Phone at CES Not Nokia 8

According to the rumor, the Nokia P1 is based on Sharp Aquos Xx3 and packs some features found on the Aquos Xx3. Recall that Foxconn now owns Sharp and Foxconn is the manufacturer of the Nokia phones for HMD Global, so the rumors carry some weight. Apart from that, the device is rumored to come with 6GB of RAM and two memory versions of 128GB and 256GB of storage respectively. There is also said to be a 22.6MP main camera at the rear identical to that of the Sharp Aquos Xx3 but the Nokia P1 comes with ZEISS optics certified by Carl. Other features include a 3,500mAh battery with Quick charge, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box.

The Nokia P1 will also come in two versions based on the material used to manufacture the body. The high-end version with 256GB storage is said to come with a ceramic body, while the other version with 128GB storage will feature a metal frame. Both versions will have IP55/ IP 57 protection standard. Expect the 256GB version to come in with a hefty $950 price tag, while the 128GB version is said to be price around $800.
