Now Nothing phone is known for its transparent back panel, and the glyph. It does not make any sense to put on a case that would cover the back, right? So you need a transparent case. Here we have five unique cases, they have their own names.

This is the NEBULA RHAPSODY, kind of like the universe, nebula, that kind of stuff.

This is the BYW COREPOD. I am confident with this pronunciation, and it’s like an apple.

This is the ONYX-Z, it’s a cool cat and flash, pretty unique.

This one is LUMENEKO, very kawaii, pinky pinky aesthetic. For some people, this LUMENEKO might be the most beautiful one, because the color of the camera ring is very contrasty, it should be girls’ favorite.

The last one, ASTRALEA, with a girl praying on a boat.

Features

Now a couple of important notes. The pattern on these five cases managed to not cover the glyph, so you won’t miss any notifications. And particularly on the ASTRALEA, there are a few stars on the glyph, so it sort of lights up the stars when the glyph shines.

And in case you don’t know, the pattern is actually made by so-called IML tech, meaning it’s not printed on the surface, it’s inside the material itself, so it stays there forever. Even after a serious scratch, the pattern is still there.

Second, it protects your phone all around, the frames extend from corner to corner, so you don’t need to worry about dropping the phone. And there are air pockets at the four corners, so even if you do drop the phone, it adds another layer of protection.

All the buttons and holes are accurately made, like the three buttons left and right, they align with the phone’s buttons perfectly. They are also metal, they feel premium. And on three of them, the buttons at the left are in two tones. You know when you and your friend buy your favorite sneakers, and you exchange one side, kind of mix and match, the same in these cases. And then the holes for the charging port, speaker, the key at the right side, and the flashlight, are all accurate.

There is also a metal frame for the camera module, to add protection for the cameras. And lastly, there is a lip at the front, so when you put your phone down like this, I am sure most of you would do that, then it protects your screen also.

It claims to be anti-yellowing, which can last for a long time.

Screen Protector

Anyway, we also received a tempered glass unit, with a 9H hardness glass, the so-called easy installer kit. I am not sure about you, but I am excellent at putting on the glass on the phone, it’s not easy, it takes time, patience, eyes have to be sharp, and practice. But with this one, none of these are needed.

Ok, you know the drill, you wipe the screen with alcohol, wipe it again with the cloth, and use the sticky pad to get rid of the dust. You put the frame on the phone, then put the glass on it. Bang, nailed it, no skills needed.

Summary

Ok, these are the patented transparent cases and screen protector from Ibywind, they are quite good actually. I am amazed by the way the patterns are made, they are in the material, it won’t fade, it won’t be scratched off, basically, it stays there forever. Protections are excellent, the holes are accurately made, overall very good quality. The case retails at 51USD each, with all the features we mentioned, I think it’s worth the price.

Nothing has started rolling out a new software update for the Phone (3a) series. The update, labeled Nothing OS V3.2-250717-1803, includes several bug fixes, system improvements, and the August security patch. The rollout is happening in stages, so some users may get it later than others.

The update changes the VoNR icon design in the status bar. It also fixes display issues with the Inter font in certain third-party apps. Video playback problems in the Gallery app have been resolved.

Nothing has addressed two Glyph-related issues. One caused the lights to turn on when they shouldn’t. The other made the Flip to Glyph feature stop working in some cases.

The update fixes a system freeze that could happen when plugging in USB headphones. It also solves an issue where certain third-party chargers caused electrical noise while charging.

System stability has been improved overall. The update also includes the latest Android security patch for August.

Nothing warns that the phone may heat up or use more power during the update. This is normal and should go back to usual once the update finishes.

In terms of overall specs, the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro is nearly identical to the base Phone (3a). Nothing has released a new update for the Nothing Phone (3a) and the Phone (3a) Pro, adding new features and system improvements based on user feedback.

The update adds 4K video recording support for the telephoto and periscope cameras, giving users sharper video quality. A new Privacy Space feature has been introduced. Users can now swipe right in the app drawer to quickly access a secure area. There is also an option to set a separate privacy password for App Locker and Privacy Space.

The update adds a Hotspot Manager, which makes it easier to manage devices connected to the phone’s hotspot. Camera improvements include clearer selfies with better face detail and more natural colors. Night shots under streetlights have been enhanced for better image quality. Filters can now be used on high-resolution 50MP photos. The update also improves brightness and reduces flicker when using the telephoto camera in low-light conditions.

The update brings the April Android security patch, along with general bug fixes and stability improvements. The rollout is happening in phases and will reach more Nothing Phone (3a) users soon.

Nothing’s latest mid-range lineup, the Phone (3a) series, introduced a new hardware shortcut called the Essential Key. Located below the power button, the Essential Key allows users to quickly capture screenshots, record voice memos, or open a new software hub called Essential Space with a single, double, or long press.

Essential Space is designed to help users collect and organize ideas, notes, and other on-the-go content. Nothing says it plans to expand the feature set over time, and the interface already uses some AI-based tools for content organization. But it seems the company could be planning to put some of those features behind a paywall.

Code strings hint at paid subscription for Essential Space

Android Authority found code strings in the latest version of the Essential Space app that hint at possible monetization. The code mentions terms like “free trial” and “AI credits,” suggesting that certain features may eventually require payment.

The strings specifically mention tools such as Smart Collections, Focused Search, Flip to Record, and Camera Capture alongside references to a one-year free trial. 

What’s ridiculous, however, is that one line even mentions a $120 fee to enroll in the program. As Android Authority points out, it’s unlikely to be the price of a monthly subscription as that would be too high. Instead, it could be an annual or even lifetime subscription fee.

Still, it feels a little early for Nothing to start monetizing these features. Essential Space is in its early stages and is mostly limited to basic functions like screenshots and voice recordings. Even these are currently in beta. 

In response to the report, a Nothing spokesperson told Android Authority that “no decisions have been made yet around potential pricing” and that the company is currently focused on improving the product.

Even if the company is serious about monetization, it may need to offer something more substantial than what’s available today.

Nothing is back with another round of community-driven design. Following last year’s Gold iF Design Award winner glow-in-the-dark Phone (2a) Community Edition, the company is now inviting users to help design a special edition of its latest mid-range device, the Phone (3a).

For those unfamiliar, the Community Edition isn’t just a new colorway or a limited-edition variant. Instead, it’s a collaborative effort where fans play a direct role in designing elements of the phone, its accessories, and even its marketing.

Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition Briefs

There are four stages for the 2025 Community Edition project, which includes:

• Hardware Design: Creating a unique visual identity for the Phone (3a).
• Software Design: Last year, this was limited to designing wallpapers, but this time, it includes new widgets and a clock icon pack.
• Accessory Design: A new addition where participants design an exclusive collectible or accessory to ship with the Community Edition.
• Marketing Campaign: Proposing key visuals, launch moments, or event ideas to promote the phone.

Want to get in on the action? You’ll need to submit a proposal in one of these categories, and only a select few will be chosen. Once submissions close on April 23rd, the Nothing community will vote for 24 hours to help pick the best ideas, after which internal juries will select four winners to bring their concepts to life. For added incentive, Nothing is awarding each winner a £1,000 cash prize.

London-based tech company Nothing has released the Nothing OS 3.1 update for its recently launched Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro devices globally. The update brings camera fixes, new productivity features, and system improvements.

The update introduces Essential Key support in the Camera app. A short press adds a text note to a photo, while a long press records a voice memo. This allows users to separate photo reminders in Essential Space from their main photo library.

Camera Fixes

Both devices now correct reddish skin tones in selfies, improve white balance for indoor shots, and provide better portrait output in backlit scenes. Zoom controls are now easier to use, and camera speed has been increased. The Pro model includes more accurate focus at 2x zoom.

System Changes

The Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro are here, and at first glance, they seem nearly identical. Both devices sport the signature transparent design, the flashy Glyph LED lights, and Nothing OS 3.1 running on Android 15. 

They even share the same Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, battery capacity, and display specs. But with a price gap that stretches up to ₹9,000 between the two models, is the Phone (3a) Pro worth the extra cash? Let’s break it down.

Identical Core Experience

At first glance, the Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro seem like two distinct models, but their similarities make the choice surprisingly straightforward. Both feature a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset — a capable yet modest performer built on a 4nm process. This is paired with 8GB (up to 12GB on Pro) LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. 

Both phones sport a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, capable of hitting 3000 nits peak brightness. And the display is protected by Panda Glass, a less common alternative to Gorilla Glass but still robust enough for daily wear and tear.

The phones also share a 5,000mAh battery that supports 50W wired charging. It is rated to deliver a full charge in under an hour. In day-to-day use, this combination should easily power through a full day with room to spare.

Differences

So, where does the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro pull ahead? Unsurprisingly, the camera setup is the biggest differentiator between the two. 

On paper, the Nothing Phone 3a and 3a Pro feature similar triple-camera setups. Both include a 50MP main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, and a dedicated telephoto lens. However, the key difference is:

• The 3a has a 50MP 2x telephoto camera.
• The 3a Pro upgrades this to a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom and a larger sensor.

For everyday use, the standard 50MP telephoto on the 3a should be enough for zoom shots. But for those who want a bit more reach, the periscope lens on the 3a Pro offers better zoom capabilities.

There’s a difference in terms of selfies too — the 3a Pro has a 50MP front-facing camera, while the standard model opts for a 32MP shooter. The Pro variant also supports 4K video recording on the front camera, while the 3a maxes out at 1080p.

As for design, the 3a Pro is slightly heavier at 211g compared to the 3a’s 201g, though both retain the company’s signature Glyph lighting system usable as a notification indicator or as camera fill lighting.

Nothing recently debuted the Phone (3a) Pro and Phone (3a), its latest mid range series of smartphones globally. These pack some capable specs and a unique design element. But with their specs sheet being quite similar, here are all the aspects that set them apart from one another.

Design

One of the immediately noticeable differences between the duo is the design. From the front, they are practically identical with uniform slim bezels and a punch hole cutout. But from the back, the camera module is unique in both models. The Nothing Phone (3a) has a design that we are already familiar with as it resembles the older Phone (2a) with a horizontal camera layout.

But unlike the (2a), the successor has three cameras at the back with a transparent body that includes the Glyph LED interface which Nothing is known for. On the other hand, the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro has a notable redesign with a large circular camera island that houses the asymmetrically arranged cameras, including the more advanced telephoto sensor. The rest of the design remains similar with the Glyph LED positioning and transparent rear panel. For those who use an eSIM, they should note that only the higher end Pro model offers eSIM support.

Camera

Nothing introduced a telephoto shooter for the first time on the Phone (3a) series. However, this sensor is not the same across the lineup. Nothing’s Phone (3a) has a 50MP Samsung sensor with 2x optical zoom, 4x in-sensor zoom, and 30x hybrid zoom. Meanwhile, the Phone (3a) Pro packs a 50MP Sony periscope telephoto camera with a 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, and 60x hybrid zoom.

The latter also offers both OIS and EIS (Optical and Electronic Image Stabilization) compared to just EIS on the former. The primary camera is also a marginally larger 1/1.56” sensor (1/1.57” on the Phone 3a) but the main feature is the option for 2x zoomed shots on the Pro model. For selfies and video calls, the Phone (3a) Pro features a 50MP Samsung sensor and the Phone (3a) downgrades to a 32MP selfie shooter.

Pricing & Colors

Nothing unveiled the Phone (3a) for a starting price tag of 24,999 INR for the 8GB + 128GB storage configuration. But for 5,000 INR more, you can buy the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro for 29,999 INR with the same storage variant. So there is a slight difference in pricing as well. The vanilla variant arrives in three color options, namely Black, White, and Blue. But its more expensive sibling is only offered in Gray and Black.

After nearly a month of teasers and speculation, Nothing has officially unveiled the Phone (3a) series. The new line consists of the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro—two mid-range devices that share a lot in common, including the chipset, battery, and display.  But when it comes to design and cameras, the differences start to show. Here’s everything you need to know, including pricing and availability.

Nothing Phone (3a) / (3a) Pro Specs and Features

Both the Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro feature a 6.77-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The touch sampling rate hits 480Hz during everyday use but jumps to 1000Hz in Gaming Mode for near-instant response times.

Brightness also gets a boost — full-screen brightness now reaches 1,300 nits (compared to 1,100 nits on the Phone (2a)), while peak brightness has jumped from 1,300 nits to 3,000 nits.

Under the hood, both devices pack the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, delivering a 33% boost in CPU performance and an 11% improvement in graphics over the Phone (2a), according to Nothing. To manage thermals, the phones come equipped with a 4500mm² vapor chamber, which the company claims reduces temperatures by 23%.

On the software side, Nothing OS 3.1, based on Android 15, keeps things clean and minimal. The update also brings improvements to the Gallery, Camera, and Weather apps.

What’s impressive is that Nothing is promising six years of Android updates and security patches for Phone (3a) series —double the commitment for the Phone (2a) and (2a) Plus.

The devices also bring a new feature called Essential Space. It can be triggered via a customizable button located under the power key. 

By default, users can tap it once to quickly capture and send content to Essential Space, long-press to record a voice note, and double-tap to open the library of saved content.

The feature will be available as an early-access preview for Phone (3a) users, where they will also get a preview of upcoming features, including Camera Capture, Smart Collections, Focused Search, and Flip to Record.

A 5000mAh battery powers both models, supporting 50W wired charging.

Key Differences: Phone (3a) vs. Phone (3a) Pro

While both models share a lot under the hood, design and cameras set them apart.

The Phone (3a) borrows its look from the Phone (2a), while the (3a) Pro debuts a fresh design language. The Pro model features a circular camera module with asymmetrically arranged lenses, while both models retain the transparent back and Glyph lighting.  The frames are also completely flat.

Cameras mark another key difference. The (3a) Pro packs a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 50MP periscope lens with 3x optical zoom, which can extend to 6x using TrueLens 3.0 and AI for enhanced image quality. Completing the setup is an 8MP ultrawide camera, while the front houses a 50MP selfie lens.

The Phone (3a) retains the same main and ultrawide cameras as the Pro but swaps the periscope for a 50MP 2x zoom lens. The selfie camera also gets a downgrade to 32MP.

Pricing and Availability

Showcased at Qualcomm’s booth at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, the phones confirmed their design and highlighted their Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, which promises a balance of performance and efficiency.

A focus on cameras

Nothing’s co-founder, Akis Evangelidis, emphasized “big upgrades in the camera department” during the event. According to a previous teaser, the camera setup of the (3a) Pro includes a 50MP “Shake Free” main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50MP telephoto camera with a periscope lens, an 8MP Sony-made ultrawide lens, and a 50MP front camera.

According to a previous rumor, the periscope telephoto offers 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, and an impressive 60x “ultra” zoom capability. Nothing has so far offered only two back cameras – main and ultrawide – and it’s good to see the pro model include a periscope telephoto, which, paired with the 3x optical zoom, also suggests that the sensor size is reasonably large.

For the sake of comparison, Samsung is still using the age-old 1/3.52″ (10MP) sensor for the 3x telephoto in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The other models of the series pack an even smaller 1/1.3.94″ sensor for the purpose. By the way, if you’re interested in Samsung’s achievements in this aspect, the Galaxy S25 Ultra has ranked 24th in DxOMark’s camera test.

Of course, smartphone photography still heavily relies on software processing, with the latest addition being AI. In fact, phones like the Xiaomi 15 Ultra kick in AI enhancement by default as soon as you cross 20x zoom. Nothing is still a relatively new player in the smartphone industry, and it remains to be seen how it will compete with the big players.

That said, you won’t have to wait long to see the full details. The Nothing Phone (3a) series will be officially unveiled today at 10 AM GMT.

Meanwhile, the Pro variant is said to start at Rs 31,999 for the 8GB/128GB model, followed by Rs 33,999 for the 8GB/256GB version and Rs 35,999 for the 12GB/256GB option. The report also suggests that a launch offer will include a Rs 2,000 bank discount.

What to Expect from the Nothing Phone (3a) Series

Starting with the design, both phones will feature a completely different look. The Phone (3a) builds on the design of Phone (2a), but the Phone (3a) Pro introduces a brand new aesthetic in Nothing’s product lineup.

Under the hood, both devices are rumored to pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. Up front, you’re looking at a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Panda Glass protection, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. 

Powering it all is a 5,000mAh battery, which reportedly charges fully in 56 minutes. As expected, the phones will run Android 15 with Nothing OS 3 out of the box.

The camera setup gets a reasonable split in hardware. Both models feature a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens, but the Pro variant steps things up with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. The standard model, meanwhile, sticks with 2x zoom.

Nothing is also teasing a new feature called Essential Space. It appears to be tied to a dedicated button on the side of the phone, though the company hasn’t revealed exactly how it works just yet.

Where Nothing Stands in 2025

With these upcoming devices, Nothing is moving toward a more tiered approach—offering a budget-friendly option, a solid flagship, and a premium-tier Pro model. This strategy mirrors what brands like OnePlus, Samsung, and Apple have been doing for years, but with a distinct Nothing twist.

The challenge for Nothing will be differentiation. The Nothing Phone (1) stood out because of its unique Glyph interface and design. But as competition heats up, a transparent back and LED lights won’t be enough. 

The company needs to refine its software experience, improve its camera tuning, and perhaps introduce deeper ecosystem integrations with its Nothing Ear and Nothing Watch products.

Should You Wait for a Nothing Phone in 2025?

If you’re already invested in the Nothing ecosystem or just appreciate a clean, near-stock Android experience with a distinctive design, the upcoming Nothing phones should be worth the wait.

The Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) could be great mid-range phones, while the Nothing Phone (3) will likely carry on the brand’s tradition of delivering a compelling mid-range flagship.

As always, pricing will be key. If Nothing can stay competitive, 2025 could be another big year for the company.

Nothing is rumored to be working on three new smartphones for launch in 2025. The flagship model of the line will unsurprisingly be the Phone (3), while the Phone (3a) and (3a) Plus will target the mid-range and premium mid-range territory. 

Now, one among these three smartphones has surfaced on BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) and UL Demko certifications. It’s not clear yet which phone the model number belongs to, but the 91Mobiles report suggests it could be the Phone (3a) or the Nothing Phone (3a) Plus.

New Nothing phone secures BIS, UL Demko certifications

The BIS listing, as usual, reveals little about the phone other than its model number and approval for launch in India.  However, the sighting on UL Demko shows that the phone has a 4290mAh battery capacity. This might be the rated capacity, but Nothing will likely advertise it as 5000mAh. 

According to reports, the Nothing Phone (3a) series will introduce some significant upgrades. The Nothing Phone (3a) is expected to include a telephoto camera, while the Plus model could take it a step further with a periscope telephoto lens. This would be a first for Nothing’s mid-range lineup.  Both models are also rumored to support eSIM technology. 

Additionally, the series might see a switch from MediaTek to Qualcomm. Both the Phone (3a) and (3a) Plus are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, which should offer better performance and efficiency compared to the previous generation.

Both the Nothing Phone (2a) and (2a) Plus are currently positioned as mid-range devices priced under ₹30,000 in India. If Nothing maintains this strategy, we can expect the upcoming models to target a similar price bracket.

While the certification listings provide early insight into the upcoming devices, more details are needed to confirm the full specifications and features of the Nothing Phone (3a) series.
