Sony is bringing a fresh new Limited Edition model of its DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5. The brand isn’t a stranger to special variants of its gadgets, and now, the Astro Bot Limited Edition for the PS5 DualSense arrives with a unique new design.

The Japanese tech giant unveiled the Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense Controller features a Dual Speeder spaceship inspired design. It brings a blue and white body that matches Astro’s iconic color palette. The character’s eye is also showcased on the touchpad along with sci-fi lines to add to this character’s aesthetic. Sony has announced the DualSense Astro Bot limited edition controller for a 79.99 US Dollar price tag.

Pre-orders for the Astro Bot controller will go live on 9th August 2024. For those interested, the special edition DualSense controller is only available in limited quantities in select regions. This includes the US, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal. The new controller is set to launch alongside the upcoming Astro Bot game on 6th September 2024. For those unaware, the new title is a Sony PS5 exclusive.

As per the official blog post, the controller was built to allow users to feel different textures like water, sand, and grass for a more immersive experience. These are offered by combining the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback in the game. Talking about the game itself, Astro Bot is the direct successor to Astro’s Playroom, which launched back in 2020. The game features 80 levels across six different galaxies with 50 planets.

The DualSense controllers that launched with the Sony PlayStation 5 was widely considering to be one of the best ever controllers on gaming consoles. Thus, one needed to rely on a USB cable to update their controllers. Interestingly enough, Sony’s rival Microsoft had also recently updated its own controllers to allow users to sell Xbox controllers wirelessly.

So, it means that Sony is paying attention to its customer base and their feedback. Notably, this change arrived in the major software update for the PS5 that the company recently released, which brought various improvements as well as support for the popular VoIP app that is beloved by gamers called Discord.

Sony will introduce two new color variants to its PlayStation 5 DualSense controller. The gaming giant says the two new colors – Midnight Black and Cosmic Red will be available from June 2021.

The broad concept behind the design of the two new color variants is the Galaxy containing a vast array of elements in the universe. The Midnight Black controller has two different shades of black and light grey. It mimics the view of space through the night sky. The panoramic view sometimes provided by the night sky lends support to the concept behind the choice of color. The Cosmic Red controller, on the other hand, features a distinct two-tone color make-up.

According to Sony, the design concept was inspired by the unique, vivid shades of red that can be found throughout the universe. The release marks the first time Sony would be releasing two new colors for the DualSense controller.

The pair of new DualSense controllers for the PlayStation 5 have similar designs with minimal differences relating to the choice of colors. The matching button colors alternate between black and red. A touch of blue is also present in both controllers to give a unique hybrid between the past and the present.

The new Sony PlayStation DualSense wireless controllers provide an impressive gaming experience for users. The DualSense controller is a significant improvement from previous controllers.
