Xiaomi Will Update 116,000+ SU7s to Fix Assisted Driving Warning Problem

The Chinese tech giant is recalling the Standard Edition of the SU7, which were apparently manufactured between 6th February 2024 and 30th August 2025. China’s SAMR (State Administration for Market Regulation) has revealed that some units suffer from a problem that makes them incapable of properly recognizing, warning, or handling extreme navigation scenarios when the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) is active.

Xiaomi SU7 standard

To put things simply, this issue can basically cause accidents or collisions if the driver fails to take control on time. Xiaomi has stated that it will fix the issue with a free software update delivered via an OTA roll out. The safety concerns were related to the Level 2 assisted-driving feature of the electric sedan. The company further adds that the Xiaomi SU7 and YU7 SUV models will be getting an upgrade to the latest Xiaomi HyperOS 1.10.0.

For those unaware, Xiaomi has already sold around 340,000 units of the Xiaomi SU7 in its home market of China since it launched in March 2024 in three variants. Back in January 2025, Xiaomi also had to recall 30,000 units of its electric sedans owing to a faulty autonomous parking system, which caused unexpected behaviour leading to collisions as well during the parking process. So this does bring the brand’s electric

Reason for recall

Xiaomi says a small batch of these power banks used the 126280 version 2.0 battery cell, which may overheat under certain usage conditions and pose a fire risk. Although the number of incidents is limited, the company decided to recall the affected units to maintain safety standards.

Units affected and verification

The recall covers nearly 146,891 units worldwide. Customers can check if their product is included by verifying the serial number (SN) printed on the back of the power bank. Xiaomi has provided an online tool for this purpose. Units with missing or damaged SN codes are not eligible for a refund.

In-store: Visit any Xiaomi Home store, where staff will verify the device and provide the refund.

Online: Safely drain the power bank, upload proof of proper disposal, and submit product details through the official website.

Other products not affected

Xiaomi confirmed that all other power banks in its range use different battery cells and remain safe to use.

Company statement

In its international safety notice, Xiaomi apologized for the issue and said it remains committed to making safe and reliable products. The company stressed that the recall is voluntary and precautionary, aimed at avoiding potential risks before they occur.

Customers who own the PB2030MI model should check their device and, if it falls under the recall, start the refund process without delay.

Xiaomi is voluntarily recalling nearly 146,891 units of their popular 20,000mAh power bank after discovering potential safety issues with some of the batteries inside.

The recall affects the PB2030MI model, the 33W power bank with the built-in charging cable that many people love for its convenience. If you bought one between August and September 2024, yours might be part of this recall.

Here’s what happened: A small batch of these power banks ended up with version 2.0 of a specific battery cell (the 126280, if you’re curious about the technical details) that could potentially become unsafe if you really push the device to its limits. Xiaomi worked with regulators and decided to play it safe by recalling all the affected units rather than waiting for any problems to actually occur.

The good news? Xiaomi is offering full refunds of 159 yuan (about $22) for anyone with an affected power bank. They’ve made the return process pretty straightforward too.

You have two options for getting your refund. You can either take your power bank to any Xiaomi Home store, where the staff will help you through the verification and refund process, or handle everything online through the given website. If you go the online route, you’ll need to safely drain the battery, upload proof that you’ve disposed of it properly, and submit your product information.

To check if your power bank is part of the recall, flip it over and look at the model number and serial number printed on the back. Xiaomi has an official tool you can use to verify if your specific unit is affected. Just keep in mind that if your serial number (SN) is damaged or missing, you won’t be eligible for the refund.

Don’t worry if your power bank isn’t from this batch. Xiaomi says all their other power banks use different battery cells and are perfectly safe to keep using.

It’s refreshing to see a company being proactive about potential safety issues rather than waiting for problems to surface. If you think you might have one of these power banks, it’s worth checking those numbers on the back just to be sure.

Google has started recalling an older mid range Pixel model. The company’s Pixel 4a was released way back in 2020 but it is now at risk due to one of the latest updates. So here’s what you need to know and why you should avoid updating your Pixel 4a.

Google Pixel 4a Recalled Over Battery Risks

Back in January 2025, the search engine giant’s began rolling out the Pixel 4a Battery Performance Program update to the device. This software update was set to ring a new battery management feature on the Pixel 4a. The idea was to improve stability of the battery’s performance on the aging model. However, it had the opposite effect as many users complaint of their devices seeing degraded battery life.

Google Pixel 4a Barely Blue

Some users were facing a complete battery discharge in mere minutes. So Google shared an update on the official support page that warned users regarding this update. It stated that the update could lead to short battery duration and reduce the charging peformance as well. Reports revealed that the maximum voltage was reduced from 4.45V to 3.95V, which marks a 56 percent reduction in battery capacity.

Apart from this, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has also issued an advisory that highlights this issue and even urged the user to check for overheating issues. The body also highlighted the recall information, stating that the overheating battery could also pose a risk of fire. Meanwhile, Google is offering a free battery replacement for select Pixel 4a that have experienced this sizeable battery performance dip.

Teslas are often praised for being some of the safest cars on the road. They have a good safety record in crash tests, and they have features that help protect drivers and passengers in the event of an accident. Tesla also uses artificial intelligence to help prevent accidents, and it can sometimes compensate for driver errors. However, none of these safety features are helpful if the steering wheel comes off. And there have been reports of Tesla Model Y steering wheels falling off while the cars are being driven.

Tesla Recalls 137 Model Y Vehicles for Loose Steering Wheels

Tesla is known for its innovative features. However, the company has also been known to recall its vehicles for safety-related issues. In the past, Tesla has recalled vehicles for problems with the brakes, the power steering, and the airbags. For instance, we reported a short while ago about the company recalling tens of thousands of cars in China. Now, Tesla is recalling 137 Model Y vehicles because the steering wheels may come off.

The recall is being done because a single fastener may not be tightened enough. This could cause the steering wheel to come loose while the car is being driven. And if you think this is the first time such a problem has occurred, you are mistaken. This is the third known instance of a Tesla steering wheel coming off. The first incident happened in 2020, and the second incident happened in 2021.

The recall affects Model Y vehicles built between January 1, 2022 and March 25, 2023. Tesla will inspect the steering wheels of affected vehicles and tighten the fasteners if necessary. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail. Luckily, no crashes, injuries, or deaths have been reported because of this technical issue. If you own a Tesla and you are concerned about the steering wheel you should contact with the company and schedule an inspection.

According to a Reuters report, the company is issuing the recall following a government probe into the fire accidents of its electric scooters. For those unaware, there have been many cases of electric scooters catching fire in India. These incidents weren’t just limited to Ola Electric scooters, and even included the likes of Okinawa and Pure EV as well. Notably, Okinawa has also issued a recall for its electric scooters in the India following these fire accidents.

As of right now, most of these incidents are believed to be caused due to the battery on the EVs overheating in the Indian summer. A lack of proper safeguards and design flaws are believed to be the primary factors for these accidents. Thus, it had prompted the Indian road transport ministry to urge the Centre for Fire, Explosive, and Environmental Safety (CFEES) to launch an investigation into these incidents to find out the root cause and prevent such accidents in the future.

In a statement, Ola Electric said that “We will be conducting a detailed diagnostics and health check of the scooters in that specific batch and therefore are issuing a voluntary recall of 1,441 vehicles.” Although, the brand also added that one of its vehicles catching fire was an isolated event and these recalls are just a “pre-emptive measure.”

According to a 91Mobiles report, this incident has caused the company to issue a recall for its Praise Pro electric scooters. Apparently, the reason for the recall is under a fault check up and redressal service. The brand had issued a recall for 3,215 units of its EVs on 16th April 2022. The units were the Okinawa Praise Pro e-scooters, which are apparently facing an issue with their battery pack, which caused the fire related accident.

For those unaware, three of the company’s e-scooters caught fire back in October 2021. This ended up causing injuries to two people. On the other hand, the fire accident in the dealership was even more intense, but it remains to be seen how extensive the damage really was. But looking at videos shared on social media, we can assume that it is unlikely that anything was left uncharred on the inside.

#Okinawa dealership in TN goes up in flames due to a reported #EVfire. Instances like this threaten to create an atmosphere of rampant skepticism about the crucial safety aspects of EVs. What do you have to say? @OkinawaAutotech pic.twitter.com/cvDzlEE1LZ

— prashant singh (@lparas69) April 16, 2022

The accident might have been caused by just one faulty battery but its flames ended up engulfing the entire dealership. As of right now, it was reported that there were no casualties and the fire was put out eventually. This marks another case of EVs and a fire accident in India. There could be many reasons for this accident like the poor design or thermal management system for the battery. But we have no way of knowing for sure at the moment.

The company is making such a large recall due to an apparent overheating issue that requires a replacement in their power boards to fix.

According to official notes from the company, 18 OLED TV models are affected by this issue, which were sold between February 2016 and September 2019. The components that are affected are within the power boards and are used to minimize current noises. The company stated that a few of the components used have shown performance drop over a period of time, which caused the current increase that could potentially lead to overheating.
