Xiaomi is raising the prices of some Redmi phones in China, and the changes are taking effect today. The company confirmed it’s bumping prices on three of its higher-end models: the Redmi K90 Pro Max, Redmi Turbo 5, and Redmi Turbo 5 Max.

According to the brand, the increases are due to the “continued sharp rise” in the cost of key components, especially global memory chips.

Here are the new effective prices

The most direct increase is to the Redmi K90 Pro Max, which now costs 200 yuan more across all configurations. The base 12GB + 256GB variant is now priced at 4,199 yuan, up from its earlier launch price of 3,999 yuan. Higher-end variants follow the same pattern, with the top 16GB + 1TB model now listed at 5,499 yuan, compared to its initial price of 5,299 yuan.

Things are a little less straightforward with the Redmi Turbo 5 and Turbo 5 Max. The prices have gone up, but not because Xiaomi is raising them directly. Instead, the company has ended its Spring Festival promotional discounts, effectively snapping both phones back to their standard retail pricing.

However, Xiaomi is still offering a 200 yuan subsidy on the 512GB variants, which slightly softens the impact for buyers considering higher storage options.

This means the Redmi Turbo 5 now starts at 2,299 yuan for the 12GB + 256GB model, while the Turbo 5 Max begins at 2,499 yuan for the same configuration. Previously, both models were available at lower “initial sale” prices during promotional periods.

None of this comes as much of a surprise. Memory prices have been trending upward for a while now, and manufacturers usually pass at least some of those costs down the line.

Xiaomi has published the official spare part prices for the Redmi Turbo 5 Max smartphone in China following its launch on January 29. The company detailed the component pricing, providing a clear breakdown of potential repair costs for one of its most performance-focused devices under the Redmi brand.

According to Xiaomi Mall, the 6.83-inch OLED display costs 560 yuan ($80.69) to replace. The battery is priced at 199 yuan ($28.68). The speaker is listed at just 15 yuan ($2.16), while the sub-board is priced at 30 yuan ($4.32). The rear wide-angle camera module is available at 85 yuan ($12.25), the ultra-wide camera at 20 yuan ($2.88), and the front-facing camera at 40 yuan ($5.76). The back cover is also listed at 85 yuan ($12.25).

As usual, motherboard replacement prices depend on memory configuration. The 12GB + 256GB variant is priced at 2,040 yuan ($294.53). The 16GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB options cost 2,140 yuan ($308.65) each, while the 16GB + 512GB motherboard is the most expensive at 2,350 yuan ($338.04).

The Redmi Turbo 5 Max debuted as the flagship model of the Turbo series and is the first smartphone to feature MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500s processor. The chipset uses a 3nm process and an all-large-core architecture designed for high-performance workloads, including 2.5K gaming. Xiaomi has also equipped the device with a 3D ice-cooling pump and its proprietary Rampage Engine to ensure consistent performance under stress.

The phone features a 9000mAh battery using Xiaomi’s Jinshajiang cell technology. It supports 100W wired charging, 100W PPS fast charging, and 27W reverse charging.

According to Redmi, the event will be a head-to-head comparison test featuring phones in the same general price category. The brand is calling it the first “test to death” live stream of 2026. Quite dramatic, but okay. 

The Turbo 5 Max features a 9000mAh battery. It’s the biggest battery phone from not just Redmi but Xiaomi as a whole, and the company really wants to show its prowess. 

Redmi vs Honor

Redmi claims its new phone can go up against competing phones that advertise 9,000mAh and even 10,000mAh capacities. For those unaware, phones from Honor (Power 2 / Win / Win RT) are the only ones with a 10,000mAh cell. 

According to Xiaomi President Lu Weibing, the phone should comfortably last a full day even under heavy use. Xiaomi also claims this battery reaches an energy density of 894Wh/L, which the company says is the highest in its industry. 

Beyond the battery, there isn’t much official information yet. According to reports, the phone will be priced around 2,500 yuan, roughly $360 

It is expected to come with a 1.5K OLED LTPS display and support for 100W fast charging. Powering the device is a Dimensity 9500s chipset that scored an impressive 3.29 million points on Geekbench.  It has also appeared on Geekbench with 16GB of RAM and Android 16.

As for cameras, the device will likely ship with a 50MP wide and 8MP ultrawide combo on the back.

This score suggests that the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will rival Snapdragon 8 Gen 5-powered devices, such as the OnePlus Ace 6T, iQOO Z11 Turbo, and the upcoming Realme Neo 8.

The brand has confirmed that the device will be officially announced soon, with early teasers focusing on performance ambitions rather than detailed specifications. While nothing concrete has been revealed yet, the Turbo 5 Max is already being positioned as a key mid-range contender for 2026.

According to official teasers and comments from Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing, the Turbo series has evolved over three generations and is now entering a more aggressive phase. He has repeatedly linked the Turbo 5 Max to the so-called 2.5K Yuan (~$360) segment. This is the space where brands usually balance near-flagship performance with practical compromises.

Leaks indicate that series will include two models, such as the Redmi Turbo 5 Max and Redmi Turbo 5 Pro Max. These devices are said to be powered by the Dimensity 8500 and the upcoming Dimensity 9500s chipset. This would be the first time the Redmi Turbo series launches with a Dimensity 9-series flagship processor.

Built on a 3nm process, the D9500s is said to feature a powerful multi-core CPU configuration and a high-end Immortalis-class GPU. Benchmark data circulating online suggests single-core scores around 3000 and multi-core results crossing 9000, placing it close to top-tier Snapdragon flagship platforms.

Beyond raw performance, the Turbo 5 series is expected to bring meaningful upgrades to everyday usage. Reports point to a 1.5K flat display, paired with up to 16GB RAM for smoother multitasking.

Battery capacity is said to reach close to 9000mAh, alongside support for very fast wired charging and rapid reverse charging. The overall hardware package, including biometrics and build quality, is tipped to align more closely with premium smartphones, reinforcing Redmi’s intent to blur the line between mid-range and flagship devices.

Redmi has officially confirmed that the Redmi Turbo 5 series will be unveiled later this month, with the lineup introducing a brand-new model called the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. The announcement hints at a stronger push in the 2,500 Yuan (~$360) performance segment, while keeping detailed specifications under wraps for now.

Redmi Turbo 5 Max variant officially confirmed

Official teasers suggest that the Redmi Turbo 5 Max is positioned as a step-up model focused on higher performance, improved endurance, and a more premium in-hand experience. A design detail from the promotional material shows the word “Max” reflecting as “WIN”, indicating Redmi’s confidence in how the phone is expected to compete in its category.

Leaks from Chinese tipsters point towards the Turbo series receiving a noticeable upgrade this year, including wider adoption of metal frames, large flat displays with rounded corners, and next-generation MediaTek chipsets. Some reports also indicate testing of ultrasonic fingerprint technology on higher-end variants, along with what is claimed to be the largest battery ever used in a Redmi phone.

The standard Redmi Turbo 5 Max is expected to retain a slightly lower positioning and is likely to be powered by the Dimensity 8500 chipset. This processor is built on a 4nm process and features an all-big-core CPU design, is scheduled to debut on Jan. 15 in China. The higher variant could be dubbed Redmi Turbo 5 Pro Max and may feature the upcoming Dimensity 9500e.

Outside China, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max and Redmi Turbo 5 Pro Max are expected to get rebranded as the Poco X8 series. Rumors suggest that the lineup may not include the standard Poco X8 but may comprise the Poco X8 Max (or Poco X8 Pro) and Poco X8 Pro Max.
