<p>Now, the South Korean tech giant Samsung is also working on a new 65W fast charging technology for its upcoming premium smartphones. It is also being reported that the fast charging tech could be used for the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s22">Galaxy S22 lineup</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-281148 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/samsung.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Logo" width="730" height="486" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/samsung.jpg 730w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/samsung-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/samsung-696x463.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/samsung-631x420.jpg 631w" sizes="(max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px" /></p>
<p>As per the latest information <a href="https://twitter.com/FrontTron/status/1417411840754151424">coming from tipster Tron</a>, the 65W charger is in the testing phase for &#8220;Rainbow&#8221; which is a codename for the upcoming Galaxy S22 series smartphones. Here, R stands for the vanilla model, G stands for the Plus variant, while B is referring to the Ultra model.</p>
<p>The premium smartphones from the company come with support for 45W fast charging, such as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note-10-plus/">Samsung Galaxy Note10+</a>. However, most of the devices from the South Korean brand support 15W-25W charging. This is too low for the world&#8217;s leading smartphone manufacturer when several companies are offering faster-charging technology.</p>
<p>The 65W charger from Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/08/samsung-ep-ta865-65w-charger-tuv-sud-certification/">was certified by TÜV SÜD in February</a> this year. This is the same charger with model number EP-TA865 which was certified by South Korea&#8217;s NRRA certification in September last year.</p>
<p>The certification process has revealed that the charger will have a maximum output rate of 20V/3.25A and will support the latest USB-IF PD (Power Delivery) standard, which includes a specification called Programmable Power Supply (PPS).</p>
<p>Nowadays, phone manufacturers are removing the charger from the retail box, forcing users to purchase it separately. So, it remains to be seen if Samsung includes the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/65w">65W charger</a> in the box when it launches a smartphone with support for such fast charging.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung is the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/04/20/samsung-lead-smartphone-market-q1-2021/"><span style="font-weight: 400">world’s largest smartphone maker</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, however, the company does not have any high-speed charging phone in its portfolio. On the other hand, its competitors sell numerous phones with over 50W charging speeds. Some phones even charge at the rate of 120W. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">This could change soon as the Samsung EP-TA865 65W charger has been now <a href="https://www.mysmartprice.com/gear/samsung-65w-fast-charger-bis-india-certification/">certified</a> by India’s BIS, in addition to </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/28/samsung-new-charger-epta865-certified/"><span style="font-weight: 400">South Korea’s NRRA</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/08/samsung-ep-ta865-65w-charger-tuv-sud-certification/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TÜV SÜD</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. The new certification suggests that this charger could release in India.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Anyway, the important question is which </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> smartphone will be compatible with this charger. As of now, there’s no info on any 65W Galaxy smartphone. Hence, we believe this power adapter could be a standalone accessory or it could be for the upcoming Galaxy laptops.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">If this charger is meant for the new Samsung notebooks, then we expect it to debut at the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/04/14/samsung-galaxy-unpacked-28-april/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Galaxy Unpacked event</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, which is scheduled to take place a few hours from now.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">That said, according to the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/11/364801-samsung-65w-charger-appears-online/"><span style="font-weight: 400">leaked images</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> (pictured above), the Samsung EP-TA865 65W charger will feature a USB Type-C port, support USB PD (Power Delivery) with PPS (Programmable Power Supply), and will have a maximum output rate of 20V/3.25A.</span></p>

But this cannot be said for Samsung phones. That’s because the South Korean tech giant has only released two 45W charging phones so far (</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note-10-plus-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Galaxy Note10+</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20-ultra-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Galaxy S20 Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">), whereas the rest of its premium and mid-range devices are either capped at 25W or 15W. However, that could change soon as the company’s 65W charger has been now certified by TÜV SÜD.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">This is not the first time we are hearing about a 65W Samsung charger. This very same power adapter with model number </span><b>EP-TA865</b><span style="font-weight: 400"> had already </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/28/samsung-new-charger-epta865-certified/"><span style="font-weight: 400">cleared South Korea’s NRRA certification</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> in September 2020.</span></p>

Now, with TÜV SÜD certification, we can expect this charging brick to launch soon in the coming days.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As per the latest certification, the upcoming Samsung 65W charger will have a maximum output rate of 20V/3.25A. Also, the adapter will support the latest USB-IF PD (Power Delivery) standard, which includes a specification called Programmable Power Supply (PPS).</span></p>

It could be possibly a high-end Galaxy A series model.  However, the Samsung EP-TA865 charger may release ahead of the phone as it can be also used to charge laptops.</span></p>

If you look closely, it has a model number <strong>EP-TA865</strong>. Recall, a charger with the same model number <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/28/samsung-new-charger-epta865-certified/">cleared Korea&#8217;s NRRA certification</a> back in September.</p>
<p>The listing designated it as a Travel Adapter suggesting that could be a charging brick. Secondly, it showed Vietnam&#8217;s Solum Vina Co Ltd.,  as the manufacturer. Coming back, this charging brick also has both the Vietnam and Model number info confirming it&#8217;s that same charger.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The images show that the Charger has a maximum output of 20V@3.25A= 65W. Additionally, it has a Type-C in port which means the cable you have to use is a USB-C to USB-C. The image also shows that it&#8217;s PD(Power Delivery) and PPS(Programmable Power Supply) certified.</p>
<p>Now, one might wonder how the Galaxy S21 Ultra let alone the entire series will support this charging tech. That&#8217;s cos early reports <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/19/galaxy-s21-ultra-specs-features-leak/">strongly indicate</a> that they will support 45W charging at max. However, if we recall, an early rumor said that Samsung&#8217;s upcoming Exynos will be equipped to support charging up to 65W. And the S21 Ultra <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/12/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-108mp-camera-65w-charging/">might get it as an exclusive</a>.</p>
<p>Also, with Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/31/samsung-galaxy-s21-excludes-charger-uk/">excluding the chargers in the box</a> for the S21 Series, this would be a great time to launch an exclusive fast charging adapter. Either way, we will have to wait and see if Samsung unveils this on Thursday or reserves it for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/03/leakers-say-the-galaxy-note-21-is-coming-as-a-successor-to-the-galaxy-note-20-ultra/">Galaxy Note 21</a>(Tentative).</p>

A new leak suggests that the next fast charging adaptor might be a 65W charger and it might debut on the next <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/22/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-battery/">Galaxy S21</a> or the even with the Note series next year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-300041" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/samsung-logo.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1000" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/samsung-logo.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/samsung-logo-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/samsung-logo-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/samsung-logo-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/samsung-logo-840x420.jpg 840w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></p>
<p>The leak is reported by <a href="https://www.galaxyclub.nl/nieuws/nieuwe-samsung-oplader-65-watt-opladen-voor-de-galaxy-s21-in-zicht/">GalaxyClub</a>(via <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s21-65w-fast-charging-support-accessory-leak">Sammobile</a>) from the Netherlands. The report says that Samsung is working on a charger with model number EP-TA865. We have two reasons to say that this could be the new Charger from Samsung. For one, it is certified in Korea from the Radio Research Agency and is listed as a travel adapter. Also, it seems to be manufactured by Solum Vina Co Ltd., from Vietnam and the report says the company has made several chargers for Samsung.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/24/samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-vs-oneplus-8-vs-xiaomi-mi-10-pro-specs-comparison/">Samsung Galaxy S20 FE vs OnePlus 8 vs Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro: Specs Comparison</a></strong></p>
<p>Second, this charger has a model number similar to the earlier launched 45W adapter. It had the model number EP-TA845. All these, suggest that the model number is indeed a charging brick. However, it need not necessarily be a 65W charging brick. In fact, after a long time, Samsung&#8217;s 45W charger&#8217;s model number coincided with wattage. Hence, we think that the &#8217;65&#8217; on the model number might indicate the same but it isn&#8217;t confirmed yet.</p>
<figure id="attachment_344997" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-344997" style="width: 706px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-344997" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/samsung-65w-charger.png?x10805" alt="Samsung 65W adapter certification" width="706" height="453" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/samsung-65w-charger.png 706w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/samsung-65w-charger-300x192.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/samsung-65w-charger-696x447.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/samsung-65w-charger-655x420.png 655w" sizes="(max-width: 706px) 100vw, 706px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-344997" class="wp-caption-text">Image Credit: GalaxyClub</figcaption></figure>
<p>Besides, if we take Samsung, very few devices like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20-ultra/">Galaxy S20 Ultra</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note-10-plus-5g/">Galaxy Note 10+</a> support its highest 45W charging. But comes with just a 25W adapter in the box. To make it worse, Samsung went backward by not including the 45W support on its latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/05/samsung-galaxy-note-20-galaxy-note-20-ultra-are-official/">Note 20 series</a>. While this posts serious doubts on the 65W tagline for the charger, it&#8217;s high-time Samsung had one for itself.</p>
<p>The year 2020 so far has shown the trend of faster-charging solutions and companies like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/15/oppo-announce-125w-flash-wired-charging-65w-airvooc-wireless-charging-tech/">Oppo</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/29/xiaomi-100w-fast-charging-phone-may-launch-by-the-end-of-2020/">Xiaomi</a>, Nubia, have hopped on the train recently. The latest one to join is OnePlus with its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/24/oneplus-officially-announces-warp-charge-65-to-debut-on-the-oneplus-8t/">65W</a> adapter on the upcoming 8T. Hence, it makes total sense for Samsung to join the bandwagon next year. However, the certification of Samsung&#8217;s charger doesn&#8217;t give any specific details for us and we are left to guess it on our own for now.</p>
