Samsung has launched the Galaxy A06 5G in India, expanding its budget 5G smartphone offerings. Starting at Rs. 10,499, the A06 5G follows the recent Galaxy F06 5G release.

Samsung Galaxy A06 5G features

The device boasts a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD screen with 800 nits peak brightness and a notched 8MP front camera. It’s powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, offering up to 6GB RAM and 128GB expandable storage. The phone runs Android 15 with One UI 7 and promises four OS upgrades and four years of security updates.

For photography, the phone features a 50MP rear camera with a 2MP depth sensor and an 8MP front camera. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm jack, and a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging (charger not included). The A06 5G is IP54-rated for dust and splash resistance and includes the Samsung Knox Vault for improved security. Voice Focus improves call quality.

Pricing & availabilty

Available in Black, Gray, and Light Green, the 4GB+64GB variant costs Rs. 10,499, the 4GB+128GB model is Rs. 11,499, and the 6GB+128GB version is Rs. 12,999. It will be available via retail outlets, Samsung stores, and online. A launch offer provides a one-year screen protection plan for Rs. 129 under Samsung Care+, a significant discount from the usual Rs. 699.

The phone is similar to the Galaxy F06 5G, which launched a week earlier, but the Galaxy A06 5G includes an IP54 rating as the only difference. Not to mention that it is also Rs. 1,000 cheaper.

Samsung is expected to launch a new Galaxy A-series smartphone soon. The Galaxy A06 has bagged multiple certifications in recent times including FCC, SIRIM, BIS, WiFi-Alliance, and more. Now the device has surfaced in leaked renders shared by Onleaks. It reveals the upcoming offering’s design. The smartphone will arrive as the successor to last year’s Galaxy A05. The Samsung Galaxy A06 is seen with a flat frame. It also has the brand’s Key Island design on the right side which has been mainstream on this year’s Galaxy A-series phones. It houses volume rocker buttons and a power key that doubles up as a fingerprint scanner. The back panel has two camera sensors stacked vertically and an LED flash unit. 

On the front, the Samsung Galaxy A06 will feature an Infinity-U display which means that the notch will look like alphabet U. There is a thick bezel on the bottom chin of the device. The USB-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a speaker grille are located at the bottom panel.  The smartphone is seen in the Black colour option. 

As per the report, the Samsung Galaxy A06 is said to measure 167.3 x 77.9 x 8.0 mm in terms of dimensions. The smartphone is tipped to have a large 6.7-inch display with a likely HD+ resolution. 

The FCC certification revealed that the Galaxy A06 will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit. Meanwhile, the Geekbench database mentions that the device will be powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 processor. It will pack 6GB RAM onboard but we can expect more options at launch.

Samsung‘s next Galaxy A series phone, the A06, has been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website. This suggests a launch in India might be happening soon.

The smartphone has been spotted on BIS with model number SM-A065F/DS. The BIS listing itself doesn’t tell us much about the phone, but it does confirm it will have dual SIM support.

However, thanks to earlier leaks on Geekbench and Wi-Fi Alliance certifications, we have some hints. The A06 might come with basic Wi-Fi features (both 2.4GHz and 5GHz) and could be powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 processor with 6GB of RAM. Benchmark scores suggest it should handle everyday tasks without a problem.

While details like camera and design are still under wraps, the A06 could be a good option for people looking for an affordable and reliable Samsung phone for everyday use. We’ll have to wait for the official launch to know for sure, but in the meantime, readers can check out the specs and features of its predecessor to get an idea of what to expect.

The device is equipped with a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor on the back, while the front houses an 8MP camera with a face unlock feature, as the phone does not include a fingerprint sensor.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Samsung is working on two affordable Galaxy smartphones. The Galaxy A06 was spotted on the IMEI certification website. Now, the device with the model number SM-A065F has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform and WiFi Alliance certification. The latter also confirms the moniker of the upcoming offering.

As per Geekbench, the Samsung Galaxy A06 is listed with the motherboard ARM MT6769V/CZ. It comprises eight cores with a base frequency of 1.80GHz. This hints that the device will be powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 processor. Notably, this is the same chipset that powers the Galaxy A05. The database listing reveals 6GB RAM onboard and we can expect more options at launch. The smartphone will ship with Android 14 OS out of the box. 

The Samsung Galaxy A06 scores 1,664 and 5,326 points in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core test results respectively. Meanwhile, as per WiFi Alliance certification, the device will come with support for dual-band WiFi 5. This is everything we know about the smartphone.
