Xiaomi Mix Flip 2

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE

Samsung is also targeting a wider audience with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. It retains the core flip experience while dialing back some premium specs to lower the entry price. Samsung has officially unveiled two new clamshell foldables alongside the flagship Galaxy Z Fold 7. The flagship Galaxy Z Flip 7 is the premium model with various upgrades over its predecessor, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is the first of its kind value value-focused flip phone from Samsung.

The South Korean tech giant has made a few small but noticeable changes to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung’s older Galaxy Z Flip 6 was one of the smaller flip phones with a smaller 6.7-inch main folding display. But the Galaxy Z Flip 7 bumps it up to a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and 2600 nits of peak brightness.

Even the cover screen is getting taller as well, with a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow screen that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. This is finally an edge-to-edge screen like other modern flip phones. However, the cover panel only has a 1048 x 948 pixel resolution and either a 60Hz/120Hz refresh rate.

On the design front, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 measures 13.7mm when folded (6.5mm unfolded) and weighs relatively light at 188 grams. While this is thicker than the Z Flip 6, the hinge has gotten thinner and more durable thanks to the new Armor FlexHinge and Armor Aluminum Frame. You also get an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance.

Samsung has made a major shift for the first time with its foldable smartphone with the Flip models. Snapdragon had powered all Samsung foldables so far, but the Galaxy Z Flip 7 skips the Snapdragon 8 Elite on the Z Fold 7 with the Exynos 2500 SoC that could disappoint some fans of Samsung’s flip phones.

The popular Fan Edition series has finally made its way to foldables, bringing cutting edge tech with a more affordable price tag. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is a new entry in the Z Flip family. It measures 14.9mm when folded (6.9mm when unfolded) and weighs 187 grams. For protection against the elements, there is an IP48 rating.

Similar to the Z Flip 6, the FE model has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex main display with an FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, along with a 3.4-inch HD Super AMOLED cover panel with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and a 60Hz refresh rate.

Samsung equips the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE with the older Exynos 2400 SoC. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery pack that supports 25W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging. The camera system between the regular Z Flip 7 and FE variant is identical. Other notable features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, NFC, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and Galaxy AI.

Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Flip 7 was announced in multiple color options, which include Blue Shadow, Jet-Black, Coral-red and Mint, but the Mint variant is exclusive to Samsung’s official website. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE arrives in just Black and White. The brand has started pre-orders for these devices, with the first sale kicking off on July 25.

What’s different this time around is that the brand is expected to announce one more foldable apart from the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. This new device is the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, which is expected to hit the market at a more affordable price compared to the Flip 7. The Korean version of the Z Flip 7 FE was spotted on Geekbench with an Exynos chip in the recent past. Now, the global version of the device, bearing the model number SM-F761B, has appeared in Geekbench’s database, revealing its chipset, RAM, and OS version.

As can be seen in the above screenshot, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE’s global edition has been spotted with an Exynos chip, which is mentioned as the “s5e9945” in the motherboard field. This is a 10-core chip with a maximum clock speed of 3.21GHz, and for graphics, it is equipped with the Samsung Xclipse 940 GPU. These clues confirm that the device is powered by the Exynos 2400 chipset.

The Geekbench listing has further revealed that the Z Flip 7 FE has 8GB of RAM and runs on the latest Android 16. In the single-core and multi-core tests, the device scored 1940 and 6136 points, respectively.

According to reports, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will feature a 6.7-inch main screen and a 3.4-inch cover display. Under the hood, it may house a 3,700mAh battery with 25W charging. Samsung is reportedly working on an affordable clamshell foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Earlier this week, CAD renders of the device surfaced, offering a first look at its design. Now, GalaxyClub has published a report revealing key specifications of the Fan Edition flip phone. Here’s what to expect from the device.

According to the publication, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will be powered by the Exynos 2400e chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM. Samsung previously used this chip in the Galaxy S24 FE. This information pertains to the European variant, which carries the SM-F761B model number. It remains unclear whether the US version will feature the same processor or a different one.

For optics, the Z Flip 7 FE is said to feature a 12-megapixel main camera alongside a 10-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. On the front, it will sport a 10-megapixel selfie camera—the same camera setup found on the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which debuted in 2023.

While other details remain under wraps, the report speculates that the Z Flip 7 FE could be a rebranded version of the Z Flip 5, upgraded with a newer chipset. It is yet to be confirmed whether the device will retain the 3,700mAh battery found in the Flip 5.
