<p>The company has rolled out a new update for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold2-5g/">Galaxy Z Fold 2</a> smartphone in the United States that has enabled eSIM functionality. Along with that, it also brings support for DSDS, which stands for Dual SIM Dual Standby.</p>

<p>As <a href="https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-2-us-esim-dsds-update/">per the report</a>, Samsung has rolled out firmware build F916USQU2HVF1 for the carrier-locked model of the Galaxy Z Fold 2, while the unlocked model has got F916U1UEU2HVF4 update that brings both the new features.</p>
<p>Along with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/esim">eSIM functionality</a> and DSDS support, the June update also comes with some additional features for the camera department, such as auto framing in the camera app and video calls, as well as improved Night portrait photography.</p>
<p>Some users of the carrier-locked model have already started receiving the July 2022 update, so there&#8217;s a possibility that some of the users may not get the June <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/software-update">update</a> and directly get the new July update, which will bring these new features to the phone.</p>

It has currently only hit South Korea where it has been released for multiple carriers including LG U+, KT Corporation, and SK Telecom.</p>
<p>The update can be easily identified by its firmware version of F916NKSU1DUI4 (via: <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-z-fold-2-new-update-october-security-patch/">Sammobile</a>). A changelog for the same seems to be unavailable at the moment but a few improvements can be expected along with the bump in the security patch version.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-416490" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/samsung-z-fold2-1024x638.jpg?x44794" alt="samsung-z-fold2" width="696" height="434" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/samsung-z-fold2-1024x638.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/samsung-z-fold2-300x187.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/samsung-z-fold2-768x478.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/samsung-z-fold2-696x434.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/samsung-z-fold2-1068x665.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/samsung-z-fold2-674x420.jpg 674w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/samsung-z-fold2.jpg 1453w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>It is worth mentioning here that the Galaxy Z Fold2 is not the first foldable from <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung">Samsung</a> to have received the October update. It is preceded by the recently released Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 foldable phones that were one of the very first to bag the said update.</p>
<p>If you reside in South Korea and are still waiting on the update to roll out for your phone, then you might want to head over to <strong>Settings &gt; Software update</strong> to check for it manually.</p>
<p>And as for those residing in regions other than South Korea, the update should be rolling out in the coming days. A notification will pop up when it arrives, so stay tuned.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-416491" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/galaxy-z-fold2-inline-1-1024x871.jpg?x44794" alt="galaxy-z-fold2-inline (1)" width="696" height="592" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/galaxy-z-fold2-inline-1-1024x871.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/galaxy-z-fold2-inline-1-300x255.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/galaxy-z-fold2-inline-1-768x653.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/galaxy-z-fold2-inline-1-696x592.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/galaxy-z-fold2-inline-1-1068x908.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/galaxy-z-fold2-inline-1-494x420.jpg 494w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/galaxy-z-fold2-inline-1.jpg 1270w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 was released last year in September and still holds up well even by 2021 standards thanks to its cutting-edge foldable tech made possible by its dynamic AMOLED 2X 120Hz HDR10+ foldable display. It packs a 4500mAh battery and is powered by the Snapdragon 865+ processor. It currently runs <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/01/samsung-rolls-out-one-ui-3-1-1-update/">One UI 3.1.1</a> and should be getting Android 12-based <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/14/samsung-android-12-one-ui-4-0-beta-program-galaxy-s21-series/">One UI 4</a> when it arrives.</p>

Just yesterday, a device said to be the foldable phone was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/18/378189-possible-xiaomi-foldable-m2011j18c-smartphone-china-3c/">spotted on the 3C website</a>. In a related development, alleged spy photos of the Mi foldable phone have been spotted on Weibo.</p>
<figure id="attachment_378436" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-378436" style="width: 767px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-378436" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi foldable Mi Mix" width="767" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix.jpg 767w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-696x929.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 767px) 100vw, 767px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-378436" class="wp-caption-text">Xiaomi foldable Mi Mix</figcaption></figure>
<p>The photos seem to have been pulled down but a tipster Nils Ahrensmeier from TechnikNews was able to grab some shots and posted them on Twitter. The photos bear semblance with earlier photos that leaked earlier this year. The images tout a design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The new images give a look at the rear aspect which shows the presence of the &#8220;Mix&#8221; branding.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-378437" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi foldable" width="939" height="1528" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-2.jpg 939w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-2-184x300.jpg 184w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-2-768x1250.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-2-629x1024.jpg 629w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-2-696x1133.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-2-258x420.jpg 258w" sizes="(max-width: 939px) 100vw, 939px" /></a></p>
<p>In line with the design of the Xiaomi foldable spotted in multiple leaks, the foldable Mi Mix will utilize an in-folding design just like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold2-5g/">Galaxy Z Fold 2</a>. Recall that Huawei just shifted to an in-folding design on the recently launched <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/22/huawei-mate-x2-arrives-with-a-new-folding-design-90hz-displays-leica-cameras-and-a-high-price-tag/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mate X2</a>.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix3.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-378438" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix3.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="804" height="1431" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix3.jpg 804w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix3-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix3-768x1367.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix3-575x1024.jpg 575w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix3-696x1239.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix3-236x420.jpg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 804px) 100vw, 804px" /></a></p>
<p>In addition to the &#8220;Mix&#8221; branding, the device is also shown to come with a triple-camera setup at the rear stacked in a vertical orientation. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-4.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-378439" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-4.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="640" height="830" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-4.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-4-231x300.jpg 231w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/xiaomi-foldable-mix-4-324x420.jpg 324w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>Unfortunately, the internal screen of the foldable phone wasn&#8217;t featured in the leak and so we can&#8217;t tell how it looks like. However, we doubt if there will be a selfie camera at the front. What we can say is that the company may have found a better way to deal with the crease <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/05/xiaomi-foldable-smartphone-patent-crease/">as per a recently leaked patent</a>.</p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>We can&#8217;t say when the Chinese tech giant will release this model. Xiaomi last launched a model under the MIX series in 2019 when the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-mix-3">Mi Mix 3</a> was unveiled. Since then, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/10/xiaomi-mi-mix-alpha-is-ready-for-mass-production/">Mix Alpha concept model</a> was unveiled. However, the company is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/25/xiaomi-to-launch-foldable-phone-soon-in-2021-three-kinds-of-foldable-expected/">reportedly</a> planning to launch foldable models this year.</p>

The latest to get it are Galaxy Z Fold, Z Fold2 foldable devices. The latter has already got the Android 11 update last week and it is the turn of the First-gen foldable now.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-243107" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Galaxy-fold.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Fold" width="727" height="454" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Galaxy-fold.jpg 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Galaxy-fold-300x187.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></p>
<p>According to a Sammobile report, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-z-fold">Galaxy Z Fold</a> is now <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsung-galaxy-fold-gets-android-11-one-ui-3-0-update/">getting</a> the Android 11 update in regions like France, UAE(4G LTE variant), and UK, Switzerland(5G variant). Accordingly, the OTA(Over-The-Air) update with firmware version <strong>F900FXXU4DUA1</strong> (LTE), and <strong>F907BXXU4DUA1</strong> (5G) is rolling out.</p>
<p>Recently, Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/06/the-galaxy-s10-series-is-getting-the-android-11-update-with-one-ui-3-0/">updated</a> the Galaxy S10 Series including Galaxy S10, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s10-plus/">Galaxy S10 Plus</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s10e-exynos/">Galaxy S10e</a> a few days ago. If you recall, the S10 series including the Foldables were scheduled to get in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/09/samsungs-one-ui-3-0android-11-europe-timeline/">January 2021 in Europe</a>. Besides, the Z Fold2&#8217;s firmware version is <strong>F916BXXU1CTLL </strong>in Germany.</p>
<p>Both the devices are getting the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/31/samsung-one-ui-3-0-features-teaser/">One UI 3.0 features</a>, and Android 11 features in addition to the January 2021 security patch. Speaking of which, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/09/android-11-stable-update-arrives-with-chat-bubbles-screen-recording-and-more/">newest Android OS</a> brings chat bubbles(conversations), media controls, improved permission management, and organized notifications.</p>
<p>Amidst this, Samsung has already updated its next UI to <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-3.1">One UI 3.1</a>. The Galaxy S21 devices are the first ones to get it. Also, a rumor says that Galaxy S10, S20, Note 10, Note 20 series including the Foldables (Z Fold, and Z Fold2) will definitely get the new 3.1 UI.</p>
<p>However, let&#8217;s take this info with a pinch of salt and wait till Samsung completes the current version. So far, Samsung has updated the Galaxy S20, Note 20, Z Flip 4G and 5G, S10 Series, and Note 10 devices.</p>
<p>That said, the update for Z Fold will soon extend to other regions in the future. If you are living in the regions mentioned above, you can try out the new features by navigating to Settings-&gt;Software Update-&gt;Download and Install.</p>
<p>Say tuned with us to know more about the One UI updates in the future.</p>

And it scores just about the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-nord">OnePlus Nord</a> but doesn&#8217;t even cut Xiaomi&#8217;s 2019 flagship and mid-range <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-4a">Pixel 4a</a> in rankings.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-358351" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/galaxy-z-fold2-dxomark.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1435" height="657" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/galaxy-z-fold2-dxomark.jpg 1435w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/galaxy-z-fold2-dxomark-300x137.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/galaxy-z-fold2-dxomark-768x352.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/galaxy-z-fold2-dxomark-1024x469.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/galaxy-z-fold2-dxomark-696x319.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/galaxy-z-fold2-dxomark-1068x489.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/galaxy-z-fold2-dxomark-917x420.jpg 917w" sizes="(max-width: 1435px) 100vw, 1435px" /></p>
<p>According to the DXOMARK report, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold2-5g/">Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2</a> <a href="https://www.dxomark.com/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-2-camera-review-a-next-generation-pocket-folder/">gets</a> an overall score of 109. It&#8217;s worth noting that the device&#8217;s triple-camera sits below the 2019 flagship <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-9">Xiaomi Mi 9</a>&#8216;s 110 points and even the Google Pixel 4a which <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/12/google-pixel-4a-dxomark-rear-camera-review/">recently got rated for 111 points</a> with just a single camera. Precisely, the Z Fold2 scores 108 points in the Photo, 102 in video, and 63 in zoom categories.</p>
<p>Also, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-z-fold2">Galaxy Z Fold2</a>&#8216;s score is just a point above the 108 score of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/26/dxomark-camera-ranking-puts-the-oneplus-nord-below-the-pixel-4a/">recently reviewed OnePlus Nord</a>. It is understandable that comparing a foldable flagship to a mid-range device would be annoying. But looking at scores and the rankings of DXOMARK, it is duly noted. Anyway, the report says that the device often lacks details in images from the main lens. Additionally, it suffers from noise and auto-focus issues in low-light and indoor situations.</p>
<h6 class="related" style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK</span>: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/01/galaxy-z-flip-bags-105-points-in-dxomark-camera-test/">Galaxy Z Flip bags 105 points in DxOMark Camera Test</a></strong></h6>
<p>This is surprising considering it has an f/1.8 wider aperture in a 12MP main camera which is a 1.8µm sensor. Essentially, the wider the aperture in a lens, the more light it can gather to produce great quality images. But that doesn&#8217;t seem to the case here. Besides, talking about the cameras, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/11/samsung-galaxy-z-fold2-launch-india-%e2%82%b9149999-2039/">device has a triple-camera</a> setup and all of them are 12MP sensors. You can take a look at the specs below:</p>
<ul>
<li>Primary: 12MP 1.8µm sensor, f/1.8-aperture, OIS, PDAF(Phase Detection Auto-Focus)</li>
<li>Ultra-wide: 12 MP 1.12µm sensor, f/2.2-aperture.</li>
<li>Telephoto: 12 MP 1.0µm pixel, f/2.4-aperture.</li>
<li>LED flashlight.</li>
<li>Features: 4K video @ 60fps.</li>
</ul>
<p>Coming back, the device also has few other Artifact issues(visible effects of image that doesn&#8217;t exist in real life) like color fringing, hue shift, etc. That said, the device&#8217;s rear cameras do have some positives like good exposure, vivid &amp; punchy color images, ultra-wide lens&#8217; FOV, white balance, and stabilization in static videos.</p>
<p>Even though the device&#8217;s talking point is that folding display, one would expect at least a decent performance over mid-rangers. Samsung needs to address certain areas in future updates like the Artifacts, Autofocus, improper texture(photo&amp;video) in the coming updates.</p>

<p>As reported by <a href="https://www.tizenhelp.com/one-ui-3-0-beta-update-for-galaxy-z-fold-2-resumed/">Tizenhelp</a>(via <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-z-fold-2-one-ui-3-0-beta-update-resumed/">Sammobile</a>), the update is rolling to users of South Korea currently. The firmware version of the latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-3.0-beta">One UI 3.0 Beta</a> update is <strong>F916NKSU1ZTKD</strong> and weighs 189MB. Samsung has reportedly mentioned on Community forums that it has released the 1st hotfix version for the affected users. Accordingly, reports say that the update has fixed the earlier bug.</p>
<p>Previously, Samsung had rolled out the One UI 3.0 Beta update for<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-z-fold2"> Galaxy Z Fold2</a> with firmware version <b>F916NKSU1ZTKB</b>. It came with a bug that didn&#8217;t allow users to unlock the device irrespective of using any biometric methods. Similarly, Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/17/samsung-reportedly-postpones-one-ui-3-0-beta-program-for-galaxy-s10-z-flip-5g-more/">had to postpone</a> the Beta update for other devices like Galaxy S10, Z Flip following issues with battery and performance on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note-10">Galaxy Note 10.</a></p>
<p>Although it has fixed the issues and resumed the program for the above devices, reports say that it has ended the Beta program for the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-note-20-series">Galaxy Note 20 series</a>. This suggests an imminent stable rollout of One UI 3.0. If we recall, Samsung confirmed the OneUI 3.0 Beta based on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-11">Android 11</a> back at the event on August 5. The Public beta program began after the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/06/samsung-announces-android-11-based-one-ui-3-developer-beta-for-galaxy-s20-series/">initial developer build</a> and has extended to a lot of flagships including the Galaxy S10 series from 2019.</p>
<p>Coming back, Galaxy Z Fold2 becomes the second foldable to get the One UI 3.0 based on <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-11">Android 11</a>. This is because, the Galaxy Z Flip, which <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/23/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-starts-getting-the-one-ui-3-0-beta-update/">received the update</a> a few days ago, becomes the first foldable device to get it. As usual, if you are in South Korea, you can apply for the Beta via <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-members-app">Samsung Members App</a>. However, users in other countries have to wait till Samsung expands it to other regions.</p>
<p>Anyway, the rollout of One UI 3.0&#8217;s stable version will likely start in December and extend to as many as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/10/rumor-samsung-to-update-90-devices-to-one-ui-3-0-android-11/">90 devices</a>.</p>
