Out of these, about 238.8 million units were produced by the company itself, while over 60 million units were made by ODMs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">For the unaware, some of the budget Samsung-branded Galaxy smartphones are produced by ODMs (Original Design Manufacturer) like Wingtech and Huaqin. These two firms are based out of China.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Further, the report goes on saying that although Samsung put together a little over 300 million smartphones, it may have only shipped around late-200 million units. Because production units take about 1-2 months to reach distributors and telcos.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The firm actually targeted to ship 300 million units in 2021. It could have been possible if it weren’t for manufacturing issues in Vietnam due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This also resulted in low sales of the Galaxy S21 series.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-338075 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Samsung-Logo-Blue-Featured-1024x608.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Logo Blue Featured" width="696" height="413" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Samsung-Logo-Blue-Featured-1024x608.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Samsung-Logo-Blue-Featured-300x178.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Samsung-Logo-Blue-Featured-768x456.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Samsung-Logo-Blue-Featured-696x413.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Samsung-Logo-Blue-Featured-1068x634.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Samsung-Logo-Blue-Featured-707x420.jpg 707w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Samsung-Logo-Blue-Featured-1920x1140.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The Galaxy S21 family is </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/08/04/samsung-galaxy-s21-series-sales-reportedly-the-worst-in-the-lineups-history/"><span style="font-weight: 400">said</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> to be the worst-selling Galaxy S series devices in history. The company only managed to ship around mid-20 million units throughout last year. Usually, the Galaxy S lineup accounts for 35-40 million units in shipments in a year.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The report states that the firm focused on shipping the Galaxy A and the Galaxy M series of phones in 2021 by diversifying its component supply chain. Finally, it concludes by noting that Samsung aims to ship 334 million units of smartphones in 2022. Out of which, 285 million units will be from its own production, while the remaining will be from ODMs.</span></p>
