<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung </a>might be planning on launching brand new line of devices that diversify its wearable category outside of its Galaxy Watch series. The company is apparently working on an AR based Galaxy Glasses and even a Galaxy Ring that can track your health.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="652" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-ar-glasses-patent-2019-1024x652.webp?x96852" alt="Samsung" class="wp-image-518982" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-ar-glasses-patent-2019-1024x652.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-ar-glasses-patent-2019-300x191.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-ar-glasses-patent-2019-768x489.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-ar-glasses-patent-2019-696x443.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-ar-glasses-patent-2019-1068x680.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-ar-glasses-patent-2019-659x420.webp 659w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/samsung-ar-glasses-patent-2019.webp 1413w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The South Korean tech has filed for two new trademark applications. These trademarks were filed for a Galaxy Ring and a pair of Galaxy Glasses. The upcoming glasses gadget could be similar to the rumored Apple AR/VR headset, meaning, it could also feature either mixed reality or extended reality headset, which was teased during the Galaxy Unpacked event at the beginning of this month.</p>

<p>Furthermore, the company has also been granted the Galaxy Ring trademark by KIPRIS (Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service) on February 23. The Galaxy Ring classifications decribes the products as a &#8220;smart device for measuring health indicators and/or sleep in the form of [a] ring.” Unfortunately, the KIPRIS application didn&#8217;t reveal any other finer details regarding this upcoming device apart from its name. Although, based on the description, we can assume that the Ring will simply monitor wearer&#8217;s health and physical activities similar to a smartwatch.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="540" height="395" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Screenshot_20230227_144139_Chrome-540x395-1.webp?x96852" alt="Samsung" class="wp-image-518983" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Screenshot_20230227_144139_Chrome-540x395-1.webp 540w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Screenshot_20230227_144139_Chrome-540x395-1-300x219.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Screenshot_20230227_144139_Chrome-540x395-1-80x60.webp 80w" sizes="(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px" /></figure></div>

<p>On the other hand, Samsung has officially unveiled that it is working on the XR (extended reality) headset at the Unpacked event at February 1. The brand is partnering with Google and Qualcomm to build this headset, and now, the KIPRIS filing does hint that the upcoming gadget&#8217;s name could be called &#8220;Galaxy Glasses.&#8221;</p>

<p>According to a <a href="https://nl.letsgodigital.org/smartphones/samsung-s-foldable/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>LetsGoDigital</em> </a>report, the South Korean tech giant filed for a trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) for the name &#8216;S Foldable.&#8217; The news arrives amid other rumors of upcoming launches for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-z-fold-3/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy Z Fold 3</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-z-flip-3/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy Z Flip 3</a>. While these devices are likely to arrive sometime in the future with designs similar to the predecessor, the company is apparently also working on a new extra large foldable tablet device as well.</p>
<p>One of the unique aspect about the S Foldable display is likely its Z shared hinge design, which implies that the foldable smartphone will feature two hinge mechanism for a single display. Meaning, the handset would fold twice. The report also adds that this technology might also be seen with the Galaxy Z Fold Tab that could release later this year, but is more likely to be unveiled sometime in 2022. The &#8216;S&#8217; in the trademark name is likely a hint towards the dual folding design that showcases its S shaped fold.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-350837 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/samsung-opvouwbare-smartphone-sliding-keyboard-1024x747.jpg?x96852" alt="Samsung" width="1024" height="747" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/samsung-opvouwbare-smartphone-sliding-keyboard-1024x747.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/samsung-opvouwbare-smartphone-sliding-keyboard-1024x747-300x219.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/samsung-opvouwbare-smartphone-sliding-keyboard-1024x747-768x560.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/samsung-opvouwbare-smartphone-sliding-keyboard-1024x747-324x235.jpg 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/samsung-opvouwbare-smartphone-sliding-keyboard-1024x747-696x508.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/samsung-opvouwbare-smartphone-sliding-keyboard-1024x747-576x420.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>In the past, we had reported on the company patenting devices that have the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/04/07/samsung-galaxy-z-fold3-smaller-outer-display/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">S or Z shaped folding design</a>. So, this might be the company&#8217;s move to trademark the design before the launch of a device that ships with it. Unfortunately, this is still a trademark application so finer details regarding any future launches are still unknown. So stay tuned for more updates regarding this matter.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">LetsGoDigital is well-known for patent and trademark coverage. The publication has now </span><a href="https://nl.letsgodigital.org/smartphones/samsung-galaxy-s21-design/"><span style="font-weight: 400">unearthed</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> a trademark called “Blade Bezel” filed by Samsung Display with the KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office) on October 16.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The application for this trademark is categorized as Class 9 meant for large screen display, smartphone display, LCD, LED, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OLED/"><span style="font-weight: 400">OLED</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, digital camera display, and video screen.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The description suggests that </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung-Display/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung Display</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> may use the Blade Bezel trademark with a plethora of devices like televisions, monitors, smartphones, and cameras. However, it does not mention the appearance of this kind of bezel.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Going by the word “Blade”, we can assume these bezels to be flat without any curves. So Samsung Display may use this trademark for its flatter slim bezel panels.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-349529 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Samsung-Display-Blade-Bezel-Trademark-1024x676.jpg?x96852" alt="Samsung Display Blade Bezel Trademark" width="696" height="459" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Samsung-Display-Blade-Bezel-Trademark-1024x676.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Samsung-Display-Blade-Bezel-Trademark-300x198.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Samsung-Display-Blade-Bezel-Trademark-768x507.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Samsung-Display-Blade-Bezel-Trademark-696x459.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Samsung-Display-Blade-Bezel-Trademark-1068x705.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Samsung-Display-Blade-Bezel-Trademark-637x420.jpg 637w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Samsung-Display-Blade-Bezel-Trademark.jpg 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Anyway, companies file a wide variety of patents and trademarks but not all of them are used by them. These filings are mostly for securing their original ideas so that no other companies, especially competitors could use them.</span></p>
