Solana Mobile has unveiled its flagship, security-conscious, crypto-first Android device. The Saga was previously released and is now available to customers who pre-ordered the device recently. Saga makes it easy ad secure to self-custody your digital assets and removes the friction associated with digital assets. New pre-orders will open on May 8 for the gadget.

Saga helps to simplify the overall web3 experience using the Seed Vault, a secure, biometric-integrated custody solution in the industry. Industry experts have claimed that Saga has elevated what’s possible on web3. It is built for our mobile-first lifestyles while ensuring the safety and security of your digital assets. Saga makes web3 fun in a refreshing manner.

You can use Saga to create an instant NFT from a picture on your smartphone. It also helps you to conveniently manage your digital assets at any time. You can use Saga to make crypto payments on the go. The bouquet of services and activities possible with Saga seeks to redefine the mobile experience for web3. The extension of crypto activities to the mobile arena holds much promise. Most crypto experiences are presented through the desktop and its mobile integration creates new vistas for the product.

Saga offers blockchain support in a more secure and guaranteed manner than what is obtained when interfacing with your blockchain site through browsers. It offers a seamless alternative that overcomes several challenges in the desktop framework. The current reliance of users on in-wallet web browsing for their transactions can be sub-optimal. This does not factor in the massive opportunities for improvement available in a mobile phone. In addition, in-app wallet support also poses some security risks in using multiple apps to store your private keys.

Solana Mobile says it has made significant strides since it commenced the Saga project last year. Its goal was to modernize how people interact with their digital assets and improve their security. The Saga smartphone is the building block for the new era of web3 mobile experience. It is a sleek and beautifully-designed Android smartphone. The Sage is dripping with flagship components like the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1chip, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of flash, and a 6.67-inch OLED screen. The Saga is available for $1,000 from OSOM. Users are guaranteed a new experience in the Solana dApp Store which offers several web3 apps.

Saga is available to ship to the US, the UK, the EU, and a few other markets. Saga Pass holders have a higher possibility of getting the product within the first batch of shipments. There are lots of goodies that come with the Saga including a Welcome Pack, a Saga Genesis token NFT when they set up their device, and more.

OSOM OV1 renamed to Solana Saga; becomes crypto-focused web3 Android smartphone

Jeet — Fri, 24 Jun 2022 03:51:34 +0000

OSOM is a new smartphone brand formed by some of the former members of the Essential company. It was already confirmed a few months ago that the company will be launching its first smartphone later this year.

The phone, which was called OSOM OV1, has now been renamed to Solana Saga. Not just that, the company has also revealed that it is becoming a web3-focused Android handset.

The rebranded of the smartphone also drops the name OSOM and instead the device is now being launched by Solana Mobile, which is a subsidiary of Solana Labs.

Earlier, the company had revealed that the phone will be launched in the second half of this year but now the launch has been pushed back to “early 2023” but there’s no exact timeline available for its availability.

However, the company has opened up pre-orders for the Solana Saga. It features a 6.67-inch OLED display. The device will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, coupled with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

It will have Solana Mobile Stack (SMS), which utilizes security features baked into the Qualcomm chip. It is said to be “a framework for Android allowing developers to create rich mobile experiences for wallets and apps on Solana.”

The phone will feature a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera sensor, coupled with a 12MP Sony IMX373 ultra-wide lens. On the front side, there will be a 16MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

It comes with support for features like Bluetooth 5.0 and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device will be powered by a 4,100mAh battery and come with wireless charging support. While the pricing is not yet known, the company is expected to price Solana Saga at around $1,000 even though the company was talking about pricing the OSOM OV1 smartphone well under $1,000.
