<p>In the latest teaser poster, the company has revealed that the Meizu 17 smartphone will feature a quad-camera setup where the primary sensor will be a 64-megapixel <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/sony-imx686">Sony IMX686</a> sensor. It also reveals that the phone will be made available in a Dark Green color option, along with few others.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-319399 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-17-Camera-Setup.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu 17 Camera Configuration" width="690" height="1380" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-17-Camera-Setup.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-17-Camera-Setup-150x300.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-17-Camera-Setup-512x1024.jpg 512w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Meizu-17-Camera-Setup-210x420.jpg 210w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>The development comes just days after the company confirmed that the Meizu 17 will be the first smartphone from the brand to come with a 90Hz refresh rate display. The Chinese company has also confirmed that the device will be powered by a 4,500mAh battery and will feature 30W fast charging technology.</p>
<p>Meizu has already revealed the phone&#8217;s design, confirming the device having flat display and curved rear panel. The phone features a horizontally arranged quad camera system with an LED-ring flash at the center with a pair of cameras on its left and right sides.</p>

The company has also confirmed UFS 3.1 internal storage and thus, we expect the phone to have LPDRR5 RAM.</p>
<p>The device could have a 6.5-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display along with an in-display fingerprint sensor. We expect the phone to run the latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-10">Android 10</a> operating system with the company&#8217;s own custom user interface on top.</p>
<p>Along with the Meizu 17, the company is also expected to launch Meizu 17 Pro, which will have better specifications and features and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/15/meizu-17-pro-3c-certification-hints-40w-rapid-charging-support/">could come equipped with 40W fast charging</a>. There are reports which claims that the pricing for the series could start at 3,999 yuan which is approximately $564. To know for sure, we&#8217;ll have to wait for a few more days for the official launch event.</p>

It will succeed the highly popular <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/18/redmi-k20-pro-exclusive-edition-to-have-12gb-ram-and-64mp-quad-rear-cameras/">Redmi K20</a> lineup, featuring several next-generation technologies. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Redmi K30 5G is a powerful contender in the upper mid-range market and boasts of several &#8216;World&#8217;s First&#8217; titles in its pursuit of offering incredible value for money. There&#8217;s a lot to talk about the new phone, but here, let&#8217;s focus on the top 10 features of the Redmi K30 5G!</span></p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/HOWrvf5hScU?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>First 5G Redmi Phone</b></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/5G-Network_2017-551x367.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291678" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/5G-Network_2017-551x367.jpg?x44794" alt="5G" width="551" height="367" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/5G-Network_2017-551x367.jpg 551w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/5G-Network_2017-551x367-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 551px) 100vw, 551px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Redmi K30 5G is the first <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/redmi">Redmi</a> branded smartphone to support the fifth-generation wireless network. Overall, it&#8217;s the third <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G</a> Xiaomi smartphone in the market. Note that we are excluding <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-mix-alpha/">Mix Alpha</a>, as it&#8217;s not yet commercially available. 5G brings significantly faster download and upload speeds to the device, making it much superior to its predecessors in terms of connectivity.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">5G is still in its nascent stages, so the Redmi K30 comes in a cheaper 4G option as well. This particular model may be the version that will be sold in international markets like India, where 5G networks are not yet available. </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>120Hz Display</b></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Redmi-K30-leaked-hands-on-image.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291592" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Redmi-K30-leaked-hands-on-image.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi K30 leaked hands-on image" width="339" height="425" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Redmi-K30-leaked-hands-on-image.jpg 339w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Redmi-K30-leaked-hands-on-image-239x300.jpg 239w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Redmi-K30-leaked-hands-on-image-335x420.jpg 335w" sizes="(max-width: 339px) 100vw, 339px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Redmi K30 is the first Xiaomi smartphone to feature a 120Hz high refresh rate display. In fact, it is the first <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> smartphone to feature a refresh rate higher than the traditional 60Hz. Despite being an LCD panel, the K30 comes with HDR10 support which should ensure crisp colors on the panel. </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>World&#8217;s First Snapdragon 765G smartphone</b></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/765g.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-293606" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/765g.jpg?x44794" alt="Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G" width="600" height="399" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/765g.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/765g-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Qualcomm announced the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/04/snapdragon-865-snapdragon-765-765-5g-mobile-platforms-with-integrated-5g-announced/">Snapdragon 765G processor</a> earlier this month, and the Redmi K30 is the first smartphone in the world to use this upper mid-range 5G chipset. The new processor boasts of powerful gaming features and is nearly as good as the company&#8217;s top-end Snapdragon 865 processor that will be available in flagship smartphones of 2020.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Redmi K30 will likely be more power-efficient than Snapdragon 865 flagships</b></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Snapdragon-765G.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-293396" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Snapdragon-765G.jpg?x44794" alt="Snapdragon 765G" width="678" height="356" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Snapdragon-765G.jpg 678w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Snapdragon-765G-300x158.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Since the Snapdragon 765G is Qualcomm&#8217;s first 5G-integrated SoC, the Redmi K30 could be even more power-efficient than the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/09/executive-explains-why-snapdragon-865-skips-integrated-5g-modem-and-7nm-euv-manufacturing-process/">Snapdragon 865 powered 2020 flagship</a> smartphones. The Snapdragon 865&#8217;s modem technically supports faster download and upload speeds, but given how the K30 5G features an integrated X52 modem inside, it should offer better power efficiency, thereby providing a pretty decent battery life. </span></p>
<p><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick:<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/09/executive-explains-why-snapdragon-865-skips-integrated-5g-modem-and-7nm-euv-manufacturing-process/"> Qualcomm Exec explains why Snapdragon 865 doesn&#8217;t have an integrated 5G modem</a></strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>World&#8217;s First Phone to feature Sony IMX686 sensor</b></h3>
<div style="width: 640px;" class="wp-video"><video class="wp-video-shortcode" id="video-294426-2" width="640" height="360" preload="metadata" controls="controls"><source type="video/mp4" src="https://cdn.cnbj1.fds.api.mi-img.com/mi-mall/0371d0a4c0493510480ace7089527989.mp4?_=2" /><a href="https://cdn.cnbj1.fds.api.mi-img.com/mi-mall/0371d0a4c0493510480ace7089527989.mp4">https://cdn.cnbj1.fds.api.mi-img.com/mi-mall/0371d0a4c0493510480ace7089527989.mp4</a></video></div>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Remember the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor that was inside the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k20-pro/">Redmi K20 Pro</a>? The new Redmi K30 5G comes with its successor, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/sony">Sony</a> IMX686. It is the world&#8217;s first smartphone to use this new generation camera sensor with a 64MP resolution. This new Sony sensor will compete directly with the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/09/samsung-64-mp-isocell-bright-gw1-gm2-sensors/"> existing Samsung GW1 64MP sensor</a> that&#8217;s on the back of the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-8-pro/"> Redmi Note 8 Pro</a>.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>First Punch Hole camera phone from Xiaomi</b></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Redmi-K30-display-e1575432664733.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-293183" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Redmi-K30-display-e1575432664733.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi K30 display" width="690" height="558" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Redmi-K30-display-e1575432664733.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Redmi-K30-display-e1575432664733-300x243.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Redmi-K30-display-e1575432664733-519x420.jpg 519w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Just like we said before, the Redmi K30 bags a lot of &#8216;firsts&#8217; for the Redmi brand. Another first is the presence of the dual punch-hole cameras on its display. The phone is the first punch-hole camera smartphone in the entire Xiaomi lineup, and features not one, but two cameras in its display &#8211; 20MP + 2MP. Xiaomi did have a couple of dual selfie camera smartphones in the past like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-6-pro/">Redmi Note 6 Pro</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-mix-3/">Mi Mix 3</a>, but the Redmi K30 5G is the first Xiaomi smartphone with dual punch hole shooters. </span></p>

<h3><b>Redmi K30 series is meant for gaming</b></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Screenshot-2019-08-23-at-1.44.30-PM.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-271829" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Screenshot-2019-08-23-at-1.44.30-PM.png?x44794" alt="Redmi Note 8 antenaa placement" width="503" height="424" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Screenshot-2019-08-23-at-1.44.30-PM.png 503w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Screenshot-2019-08-23-at-1.44.30-PM-300x253.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Screenshot-2019-08-23-at-1.44.30-PM-498x420.png 498w" sizes="(max-width: 503px) 100vw, 503px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As mentioned above, the Redmi K30 comes in 5G and 4G versions. They have two different processors inside &#8211; the K30 5G has the new Snapdragon 765G chipset while the 4G variant has the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/09/qualcomm-announces-snapdragon-665-snapdragon-730-and-snapdragon-730g-with-focus-on-ai-photography-and-gaming/"> Snapdragon 730G chipset</a>. If you notice, both these models have got the gaming versions of its chipsets that come with boosted GPUs, further confirming that they are targeted at gaming enthusiasts. </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Larger battery for 5G consumption</b></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-2019-12-12-at-6.47.53-PM.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-294834" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-2019-12-12-at-6.47.53-PM.png?x44794" alt="redmi k30 4500mAh battery" width="640" height="341" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-2019-12-12-at-6.47.53-PM.png 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-2019-12-12-at-6.47.53-PM-300x160.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Remember how Redmi increased the battery capacity of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-8-pro/">Redmi Note 8 Pro</a> to 4500mAh? Well, Redmi has decided to do the same for the Redmi K30 5G model as well, mainly because the 5G network is likely to drain more battery as compared to 4G. You get 30W fast charging, as well and Redmi says you can charge the phone from empty to full in just 1 hour.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Redmi K30 5G has 12 antennas</b></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/s_9b7b5885b82f4aae86106823d6ff2b4f.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-293032" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/s_9b7b5885b82f4aae86106823d6ff2b4f.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi K30 Antenna" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/s_9b7b5885b82f4aae86106823d6ff2b4f.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/s_9b7b5885b82f4aae86106823d6ff2b4f-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/s_9b7b5885b82f4aae86106823d6ff2b4f-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">5G requires a complicated antenna setup inside a smartphone. So, the Redmi K30 5G <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/03/redmi-k30-series-features-12-antennas-that-are-2-4-times-that-of-4g-smartphones/">comes with a total of 12 antennas inside</a>, which is 2.4 times the number that is found on a traditional 4G smartphone. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The phone is also using a new structural design and complex RF solution to make </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">5G</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> signals stronger and much more stable.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>World&#8217;s Cheapest 5G model</b></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-2019-12-12-at-6.47.38-PM.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-294835" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-2019-12-12-at-6.47.38-PM.png?x44794" alt="redmi k30 5g purple" width="686" height="577" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-2019-12-12-at-6.47.38-PM.png 686w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-2019-12-12-at-6.47.38-PM-300x252.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Screenshot-2019-12-12-at-6.47.38-PM-499x420.png 499w" sizes="(max-width: 686px) 100vw, 686px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As the world&#8217;s first phone to feature the Snapdragon 765G chipset, the Redmi K30 5G is also the world&#8217;s first true mid-range 5G smartphone. It is the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/10/redmi-k30-5g-pricing-and-availability/">cheapest 5G smartphone in the world</a>! The phone will lead the 5G revolution in the mid-range segment, marking the entry of the new generation technology into cheaper price segments. </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Redmi K30 5G is the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/29/new-mediatek-soc-will-bring-5g-to-cheaper-flagships/"> first of many mid-range 5G smartphones</a> that are coming our way in 2020. It&#8217;s an important phone for Redmi as it marks the start of the 5G era for the brand. </span></p>

<p>According to the official sources, the Redmi K30 is equipped with a standalone super macro lens with a minimum focusing distance of 2 centimeters. Notably, the 2 centimeters focusing distance is nearly double the focusing distance of most smartphones&#8217; macro lenses that are currently available in the market. <p>Thanks to the next-gen Sony IMX686 camera sensor, it can offer a 64 MP ultra clear picture quality, has f/1.7 aperture larger lens and offer super high resolution photos of 9248 x 6944 pixels.</p>

<p>Along with the 64 MP primary camera sensor, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi/">Redmi</a> K30 series phones will also come with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a macro lens, among others. On the front side, the device will come with a punch-hole display for housing two camera sensors.</p>
<p>It has been confirmed that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/05/snapdragon-765-and-765g-specifications-confirmed/">Snapdragon 765G octa-core processor</a>, enabling the 5G connectivity support on the device. Under the hood, the device will be backed by a 4,500mAh battery and will come with support for 30W fast charging technology.</p>

<p>Since Xiaomi Mi 10 is expected to launch as Xiaomi’s first phone with the new Snapdragon 865, there is a possibility that the Redmi K30 Pro could be equipped with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/26/mediatek-dimensity-1000-5g-high-end-chip-launch/">7nm MediaTek D1000 5G SoC</a> that was made official last month.</p>
<p>As for the display, the Redmi K30 (non 5G edition) is rumored to arrive with 6.6-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ display that supports 120GHz refresh rate. It could come with up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage.</p>
<p>Coming to the quad camera setup on the back, it will have a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 + 8-megapixel (telephoto) + 13-megapixel (ultra-wide) and 2-megapixel quad camera setup. On the front side, it comes with 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual front-facing cameras.</p>

<p>Sony is yet to reveal the details of the Sony IMX686. The sample images are shown through the video shown below. Hopefully, the Japanese tech giant will roll out a press release to reveal the configuration and features of the image sensor along with actual camera samples.</p>
<div style="width: 696px;" class="wp-video"><video class="wp-video-shortcode" id="video-288383-3" width="696" height="392" preload="metadata" controls="controls"><source type="video/mp4" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/003Q5VJmlx07yoMgib6g01041200EQ2v0E010.mp4?_=3" /><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/003Q5VJmlx07yoMgib6g01041200EQ2v0E010.mp4">https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/003Q5VJmlx07yoMgib6g01041200EQ2v0E010.mp4</a></video></div>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/sony-imx686">Sony IMX686</a> is not yet available on any smartphone. The sample shots were taken by using a prototype board with Sony IMX686 sensor connected to a PC. The sample shots show that the IMX686 can capture highly detailed photos in any lighting conditions. Some of the shots show the wide-angel photo capturing capabilities of the sensor.</p>
<h4 style="text-align: center"><strong><div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;">Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/30/sony-sold-just-600000-smartphones-in-the-entire-q3-2019/">Sony sold just 600,000 smartphones in the entire Q3 2019</a></div></div></strong></h4>
<p>The numbering of the Sony IMX686image sensor indicates that it could be the successor of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/sony-imx586">Sony IMX586</a> lens that was unveiled in 2018. It is the latest major image sensor for mobile devices. It has been used on many flagship phones and some mid-rangers that were designed to offer flagship-grade photo shooting experience. Samsung has recently launched the 64-megapixel and 108-megapixel camera sensors. Sony’s IMX686 could be a 60-megapixel or 64-megapixel lens that may offer richer photography experience than Samsung’s product.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/06/huawei-nova-6-full-specifications-and-pricing-leaked/">A reliable Chinese tipster has claimed</a> that the Sony IMX686 sensor will be available on the upcoming Huawei Nova 6 smartphone. Other leaks have revealed that phones like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/06/oppo-reno-3-specifications-and-pricing-leaked/">OPPO Reno 3</a>v and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/06/vivo-x30-and-x30-pro-specifications-and-pricing-leaked/">Vivo X30 Pro</a> will be also equipped with Sony IMX686.</p>
