<p>TCL CSOT presented its latest professional and commercial display innovations at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2026, held in Barcelona, Spain. The company, a subsidiary of TCL Technology, used the global exhibition to demonstrate how advanced display technologies can improve efficiency, sustainability, and user experience across multiple industries.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="699" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-31-1024x699.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-726014" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-31-1024x699.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-31-300x205.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-31-768x524.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-31-218x150.png 218w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-31-696x475.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-31-616x420.png 616w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-31.png 1026w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<h3><strong>APEX Display Philosophy</strong></h3>

<p>At the core of TCL CSOT’s showcase was its APEX display philosophy. APEX stands for Amazing Display Experience, Protective of Eye Health, Eco-Friendly to Build and Use, and X-Unlimited Imaginative Potential. This approach focuses on creating human-centric display solutions that go beyond traditional specifications and prioritize real-world usability and long-term sustainability.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="457" height="617" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-30.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-726013" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-30.png 457w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-30-222x300.png 222w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-30-311x420.png 311w" sizes="(max-width: 457px) 100vw, 457px" /></figure></div>

<h3><strong>Professional and Educational Displays</strong></h3>

<p>One of the key highlights was a 27-inch In-Cell Touch Ultra-Thin Smart Display designed for education and collaborative workspaces. By integrating touch directly into the panel, the display achieves a slim and lightweight design while delivering Full HD resolution, 99% sRGB color accuracy, and a virtual 120Hz touch sampling rate. These features enable smooth, precise interaction for classrooms, meetings, and mobile work environments.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="431" height="589" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-28.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-726011" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-28.png 431w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-28-220x300.png 220w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-28-307x420.png 307w" sizes="(max-width: 431px) 100vw, 431px" /><figcaption>E-Paper Signage</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>TCL CSOT also showcased a 13.3-inch E-Paper signage display powered by E Ink Spectra 6. The display uses ambient light instead of a backlight, resulting in extremely low power consumption. With a standby power of just 0.01W and a battery life of up to 18 months, it is positioned as a sustainable solution for professional and commercial signage.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="790" height="451" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-29.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-726012" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-29.png 790w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-29-300x171.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-29-768x438.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-29-696x397.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/image-29-736x420.png 736w" sizes="(max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /><figcaption>Alipay Smart Handheld POS</figcaption></figure></div>

<h3><strong>Commercial, Outdoor, and Event Solutions</strong></h3>

<p>For retail and payment applications, TCL CSOT introduced its first all-in-one Alipay Smart Handheld POS display, supporting NFC, QR code payments, and multi-mode connectivity. The company also revealed ultra-high brightness outdoor displays reaching 4000 nits, designed for reliable performance in direct sunlight. The showcase concluded with a 163-inch MLED display for exhibitions and live events, highlighting TCL CSOT’s leadership in premium commercial display solutions.</p>

<p>TCL CSOT is expected to announce its long-anticipated investment in Gen 8 inkjet-printed OLED (IJP OLED) production within the next two months. Zhou Mingzhong, Head of Technology Planning at TCL CSOT, confirmed the timeline during an interview following the Seoul Display Business Forum. He stated that the formal announcement would take place between August and September.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="680" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Displays-1024x680.jpg?x10805" alt="TCL CSOT IJP OLED Displays" class="wp-image-700561" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Displays-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Displays-300x199.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Displays-768x510.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Displays-696x462.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Displays-632x420.jpg 632w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Displays.jpg 1067w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>TCL CSOT IJP OLED Displays</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The company has already achieved key technical milestones with its inkjet OLED technology. Zhou revealed that TCL CSOT panels have surpassed 350 pixels per inch (PPI) in resolution. He added that the blue OLED device&#8217;s LT95@100nits lifespan is expected to reach 400 hours by 2026, a tenfold improvement compared to 2020 levels. The blue sub-pixel will also match the size of the red and green sub-pixels, addressing a common imbalance in traditional FMM OLED designs.</p>

<p>TCL CSOT uses a full RGB sub-pixel arrangement with equally sized pixels. The company reports a significantly higher aperture ratio for its inkjet OLEDs, three times greater than that of conventional FMM OLEDs. This advancement improves brightness, energy efficiency, and display durability.</p>

<p>The company showcased a range of potential applications during recent exhibitions. These include a 6.5-inch smartphone panel with 325PPI, a 14-inch 2.8K laptop screen with 243PPI, a 27-inch 4K monitor with 163PPI, and a 65-inch 8K TV panel with 136PPI. These prototypes demonstrate <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/tcl/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">TCL</a>’s ability to scale inkjet OLED across multiple form factors.</p>

<p>TCL CSOT currently operates a Gen 5.5 inkjet OLED line at its T5 facility in Wuhan. In late 2024, the company produced a 21.6-inch medical-grade OLED panel using inkjet printing. However, the Gen 8 project, referred to as the T8 Project, marks a significant step forward in commercial-scale production.</p>

<p>Industry sources told The Elec that the announcement was initially expected in July but has been slightly delayed, possibly due to ongoing coordination with local government authorities. Once finalized, the Gen 8 investment could help TCL CSOT differentiate itself from South Korean rivals that continue to focus on FMM and open metal mask (OMM) OLED technologies.</p>

<p>TCL CSOT is reportedly preparing to mass-produce its first standard OLED monitor panel, marking a significant step in its display technology roadmap. According to industry source VisionTalk, the panel will feature a 27-inch size, 4K UHD resolution (3840×2160), and support for 120Hz or 144Hz refresh rates. Unlike OLED gaming monitors, this model is targeted primarily at office and professional use.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Panel-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="TCL CSOT IJP OLED Panel" class="wp-image-697308" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Panel-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Panel-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Panel-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Panel-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Panel-1068x600.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Panel-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/TCL-CSOT-IJP-OLED-Panel.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>VisionTalk reports that TCL CSOT has already finalized internal plans for OLED panel mass production. Based on the current timeline, production is expected to begin by the end of the third quarter of 2026. The company has also started discussions with multiple monitor brands to explore potential collaboration and integration.</p>

<p>The specifications closely resemble a prototype that TCL CSOT showcased at the SID 2025 exhibition. That model used inkjet printing (IJP) technology for OLED deposition and featured the same size and refresh rate configuration. It served as an early indicator of TCL CSOT’s intent to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/06/26/tcl-csot-begins-oled-monitor-panel-production-brands-test-prototypes/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">move beyond R&amp;D and enter commercial production</a>.</p>

<p>Although 120Hz and 144Hz refresh rates are typically associated with gaming monitors, TCL CSOT appears to be positioning this panel for general productivity and creative tasks. OLED displays offer deep contrast, true blacks, and wide viewing angles, which can enhance workflows for professionals working with visual content or multitasking across large screens.</p>

<p>The use of IJP OLED technology could allow TCL CSOT to keep production costs lower than those of traditional WOLED or QD-OLED panels. This approach may also support more scalable manufacturing, which is critical as the company looks to expand its presence in the OLED monitor segment.</p>

<p>TCL CSOT has not publicly confirmed the report, but VisionTalk suggests that early-stage talks with display brands are already underway. If the production schedule holds, the first commercial monitors based on this 27-inch 4K OLED panel could arrive in late 2026 or early 2027.</p>

<p>In related news, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/tcl/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">TCL</a> recently launched its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/15/tcl-c72k-qd-mini-led-tvs-launched-in-india/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">C72K QD-Mini LED TVs</a> in India, featuring 4K 144Hz panels and Dolby Atmos support, while the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/02/tcl-nxtpaper-11-plus-tablet-launched-price-specs/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nxtpaper 11 Plus tablet</a> has debuted in the US with a 120Hz paper-like display.</p>

<p>TCL Technology’s subsidiary, TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT), has announced its ambitious plan to acquire a significant stake in LG Display&#8217;s (LGD) Chinese operations.</p>

<p>This strategic move includes the acquisition of 80% of LG Display (China) Co., Ltd. (LGDCA) and 100% of LG Display (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. (LGDGZ), at a base price of CNY 10.8 billion ($1.512 billion).</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="720" height="480" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/TCL-CSOT.jpg?x10805" alt="TCL CSOT" class="wp-image-652635" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/TCL-CSOT.jpg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/TCL-CSOT-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/TCL-CSOT-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/TCL-CSOT-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /><figcaption>Image Credit: Yicaiglobal</figcaption></figure></div>

<h2>TCL CSOT to Strengthen Its LCD Market Leadership</h2>

<p>This acquisition is expected to have a profound impact on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/tcl/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">TCL</a>’s standing in the global display industry. The 8.5-generation plant in Guangzhou is primarily focused on producing large-sized LCD panels, especially for TV screens. It’s estimated to churn out around 14 million units in 2024, with a significant portion of the production focusing on panels 55 inches and above. By acquiring these assets, TCL CSOT will not only enhance its production capacity but also position itself as a dominant player in the large-sized LCD panel market.</p>

<p>TCL’s market share is set to surge, with CSOT&#8217;s share in large-generation LCD production surpassing 20%, making it the second-largest player in the sector globally. By 2026, CSOT’s market share is projected to climb to 23.9%, consolidating its influence alongside industry leader BOE, which currently holds 27%. Combined, these two Chinese manufacturers will control a commanding portion of the global LCD market.</p>

<p>For LG Display, this deal aligns with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/03/samsung-and-lg-planning-on-selling-major-share-of-their-lcd-operations-worth-33-billion-report/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">company&#8217;s broader strategy</a> to transition away from the increasingly saturated LCD market and focus on its more profitable OLED business. OLED technology has emerged as a growth area, particularly in premium display applications, and LGD aims to reinforce its leadership in this segment.</p>

<p>The sale of its Chinese LCD assets provides LG Display with much-needed capital to stabilize its financials, following multiple quarters of losses due to decreasing demand for LCD panels used in electronic devices.</p>

<p>This shift from LCD to OLED represents a strategic refocusing for LG Display, ensuring that it remains competitive in a rapidly evolving market. By shedding its LCD operations, LGD can now dedicate more resources to OLED technology, which is expected to drive future profitability as consumer demand for premium displays continues to rise.</p>

<p>However, this aggressive expansion may come with challenges. Many of LG Display&#8217;s South Korean clients overlap with CSOT’s existing customer base, potentially prompting shifts in supply chains as brands like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung</a> Electronics and LG Electronics may seek alternative suppliers.</p>

<h2>TCL CSOT&#8217;s Innovative Adjustable Curvature Monitor</h2>

<p>Beyond its shape-shifting capabilities, the monitor boasts impressive specifications. Equipped with Mini-LED backlight technology, it delivers exceptional color accuracy, contrast ratios, and peak brightness. It also features a 165Hz refresh rate that ensures smooth gameplay and minimal motion blur.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/TCL-CSOT-Adjustable-Curvature-Monitor-1-1024x683.png?x10805" alt="TCL CSOT Adjustable Curvature Monitor" class="wp-image-642161" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/TCL-CSOT-Adjustable-Curvature-Monitor-1-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/TCL-CSOT-Adjustable-Curvature-Monitor-1-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/TCL-CSOT-Adjustable-Curvature-Monitor-1-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/TCL-CSOT-Adjustable-Curvature-Monitor-1-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/TCL-CSOT-Adjustable-Curvature-Monitor-1-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/TCL-CSOT-Adjustable-Curvature-Monitor-1-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/TCL-CSOT-Adjustable-Curvature-Monitor-1.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>TCL CSOT’s foray into variable curvature monitors follows in the footsteps of industry peers like Corsair and LG, who have introduced similar products in recent years. However, TCL CSOT&#8217;s latest offering stands out with its unique combination of features and potentially competitive pricing.</p>

<p>The company also showcased other cutting-edge display technologies at the expo, including a massive 105-inch 5K curved gaming screen and a high-resolution 27-inch 8K 120Hz IGZO HFS gaming screen.</p>

<p>Additionally, TCL CSOT and Lenovo jointly released the Lenovo HVA professional gaming monitor R25f-30, while TCL CSOT and TPV unveiled the AOC 32&#8243; UHD 240Hz gaming monitor U32G4ZMN.</p>

<p>The company&#8217;s CEO, Zhao Jun, emphasized the shift in consumer preferences from performance-driven products to experience-centric ones. TCL CSOT is responding to this trend by focusing on its HVA technology, which delivers high contrast, high curvature, high refresh rates, and fast response times. This technology is at the core of the company&#8217;s efforts to create more pleasant, reliable, and sustainable display solutions.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="908" height="697" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/TCL-CSOT-Display.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-519664" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/TCL-CSOT-Display.png 908w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/TCL-CSOT-Display-300x230.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/TCL-CSOT-Display-768x590.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/TCL-CSOT-Display-696x534.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/TCL-CSOT-Display-547x420.png 547w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/TCL-CSOT-Display-80x60.png 80w" sizes="(max-width: 908px) 100vw, 908px" /></figure></div>

<p>Additionally, the color gamut coverage is on par with that of professional cinema screens, providing a full spectrum of colors at 100% DCI-P3 coverage. This technology can still support the screen refresh rate of 60/120Hz at 4K resolution. It can quickly detect the dynamic switching of low frequencies, ensuring a smooth experience while reducing power consumption.</p>

<p>In addition, TCL CSOT has used an extremely narrow bezel technology on the display, which can achieve a screen-to-body ratio of up to 96%, bringing a wider field of vision. TCL CSOT has transformed touch control by replacing traditional plug-in technology with a built-in solution called DOT (Direct on-cell Touch).</p>

<p>This innovative technology seamlessly integrates touch and display elements directly into the panel, resulting in a thinner screen and increased internal space. Additionally, it supports active pens and boasts an impressive touch sampling rate of 240Hz.</p>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/tecno">Tecno</a> has confirmed it will be showcasing an interesting and rather new smartphone during the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MWC/">MWC Barcelona 2023</a>. The device in question will be the brand’s first-ever foldable smartphone, Phantom V Fold. While we wait for the formal debut, Tecno has revealed that the upcoming folding phone features an advanced flagship screen developed in collaboration with technology giant TCL CSOT, in a joint laboratory of the two technology brands.</p>

<p>Tecno and TCL CSOT set up a joint lab in July 2022, strengthening their long-standing partnership. The lab aims to drive innovation and meet customer needs, as both brands value research and development. The new flagship display is a result of this collaboration and it is claimed to deliver an outstanding visual experience in both folded and unfolded large-screen setups.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tecno-V-Fold-Concept-1024x576.png?x10805" alt="Tecno Phantom V Fold Concept" class="wp-image-518007" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tecno-V-Fold-Concept-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tecno-V-Fold-Concept-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tecno-V-Fold-Concept-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tecno-V-Fold-Concept-1536x864.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tecno-V-Fold-Concept-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tecno-V-Fold-Concept-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tecno-V-Fold-Concept-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Tecno-V-Fold-Concept.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Tecno Phantom V Fold Concept</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Tecno says the upcoming Phantom V Fold uses an LTPO dual screen with up to 120Hz refresh rate. In addition, the display will apparently fold “ultra-flat” and have a “virtually crease-free surface to provide immersive and remarkable large-screen visuals”.</p>

<h2>Phantom V Fold’s Successor and a Rollable Device Also in Development</h2>

<p>Additionally, Tecno confirmed that the successor of the upcoming Phantom V Fold is also in development and it will have even better display capabilities. The next-gen foldable is slated to be released sometime in 2024 with Tecno’s self-developed Pattern 2.0 crease optimization technology that will ensure the crease on the display is almost non-existent.</p>

<p>The phone’s screen layering is said to be approximately 20% thinner and it will use TCL CSOT’s PLP technology to further improve the display.</p>

<p>Notably, Tecno and TCL CSOT have another intriguing large-screen device in development. This said device will be a rollable smartphone with an extendable and retractable screen. Apparently, they&#8217;re planning to put a motor in the device that can roll out the screen and make it big without needing to fold it. This means that the screen won&#8217;t have any creases and will be really flat.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Recently </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/tcl/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TCL</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">’s CSOT Department made a revolutionary display breakthrough for smartphones as the company has successfully developed ultra-thin active high privacy display technology. The technology is a mouthful to read but the science behind it is rather quite interesting.</span></p>
<p><figure id="attachment_458415" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-458415" style="width: 850px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-458415" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Privacy-Screen.jpg?x10805" alt="Privacy Screen" width="850" height="478" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Privacy-Screen.jpg 850w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Privacy-Screen-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Privacy-Screen-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Privacy-Screen-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Privacy-Screen-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-458415" class="wp-caption-text">Privacy Screen for illustration purposes only.</figcaption></figure></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Conventionally, those privacy screen protectors you currently see in the market utilise low refraction highly reflective material to ensure that the confidential content you are reading is protected from the surrounding people. However, there is one caveat to the current conventional privacy screen protectors on the market currently which is that it only reduces the visibility of the screen at certain angles, and at some angles, the content although difficult to read is still legible to the naked eye if someone were standing near to you.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">This is because currently there are no inherent electronics inside your privacy screen protector, it is only a passive technology. </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/tcl/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TCL</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> aims to solve the problem with active technology by instead changing the screen, instead of the screen protector. </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/tcl/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TCL</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> aims to make the screen itself to be an active high privacy display.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Not only does the active privacy display boast better privacy-focused reflective angular efficiency compared to the passive privacy screen protectors, but also since the screen is utilising active technology, the display can change privacy modes with a simple click.</span></p>
<p><figure id="attachment_458416" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-458416" style="width: 1080px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-458416" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Laptop.png?x10805" alt="TCL-Privacy-Screen-Laptop" width="1080" height="390" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Laptop.png 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Laptop-300x108.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Laptop-768x277.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Laptop-1024x370.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Laptop-696x251.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Laptop-1068x386.png 1068w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-458416" class="wp-caption-text">TCL Illustration of Privacy Screen. <p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/tcl/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TCL</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> has illustrated the technology as shown where the 13-inch laptop screen can change from a privacy screen to a normal screen instantaneously without changing the laptop’s orientation or viewing angle.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Currently, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/tcl/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TCL</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> has proudly exclaimed that its CSOT Display department has successfully developed the display technology for smartphones. The company is proud that with its team of engineers, it has achieved to produce an ultra-thin active high privacy 6.58-inch smartphone display.</span></p>
<p><figure id="attachment_458417" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-458417" style="width: 1080px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-458417" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Smartphone.png?x10805" alt="TCL-Privacy-Screen-Smartphone" width="1080" height="1026" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Smartphone.png 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Smartphone-300x285.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Smartphone-768x730.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Smartphone-1024x973.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Smartphone-696x661.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Smartphone-1068x1015.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/TCL-Privacy-Screen-Smartphone-442x420.png 442w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-458417" class="wp-caption-text">Left to Right: Conventional Screen vs Ultra-Thin High Privacy Display vs High Privacy Display. <p><span style="font-weight: 400">At a 45 degree angle with privacy mode turned on, the nearest side-looker will not able to see your screen as with the display&#8217;s electronic configuration and chemical properties, the screen shall only let through 1.12% of the display’s light through to the side-looker. Despite all the technology crammed into the panel, this high privacy active smartphone display comes in at only 0.1mm thicker than your conventional smartphone AMOLED screen. </span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/tcl/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TCL</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> mentions that the technology is currently at the end of its prototype testing phase, and the company is looking start production of these high privacy active displays very soon once it is ready.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">According to a report by </span><a href="http://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=3673"><i><span style="font-weight: 400">The Elec</span></i></a> <span style="font-weight: 400">(via </span><a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/oppos-find-n-foldable-phone-display-manufacturer/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400">SamMobile</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400">), the yet-to-be-announced OPPO Find N uses a 7.1-inch foldable OLED panel supplied by </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung-Display/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung Display</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. This screen is protected by UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) instead of polyimide film. However, the external 5,45-inch OLED panel comes from BOE.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Further, the internal folding screen supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate. Despite that, it consumes less energy as it utilizes LTPO  (Low Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) TFT (Thin Film Transistor).</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The report further notes that even </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo/"><span style="font-weight: 400">vivo</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> will use Samsung Display-supplied panels for their upcoming foldables. <p><span style="font-weight: 400">The forthcoming Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is said to arrive with an 8.01-inch OLED foldable panel with UTG from Samsung Display. However, the external 6.52-inch OLED screen will be from </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/TCL/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TCL</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> CSOT.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Lastly, vivo will use a Samsung Display panel for the internal screen and a </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/BOE/"><span style="font-weight: 400">BOE</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> panel for the external screen. <p><span style="font-weight: 400">According to a report by </span><a href="http://www.thelec.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=14674"><i><span style="font-weight: 400">The Elec</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> (via </span><a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsung-using-chinese-oled-displays-galaxy-a73/"><span style="font-weight: 400">SamMobile</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">), Samsung Electronics is testing OLED panels from three different suppliers for the Galaxy A73. One of them is unsurprisingly Samsung Display. Whereas, the other two are China-based BOE and TCL CSOT.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">This is not the first time Samsung is testing Chinese displays for its phones. Last year, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/TCL/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TCL</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> CSOT </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/15/galaxy-m41-will-feature-6-67-inch-fhd-tcl-csot-flexible-oled-panel/"><span style="font-weight: 400">became</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> the sole supplier of OLED displays for the Galaxy M41. However, for unknown reasons, this phone was shelved and replaced with Galaxy M51 featuring a panel from Samsung Display.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Anyway, CSOT managed to supply panes in a low quantity for certain legacy models of the Galaxy M series this year. On the other hand, Samsung tested </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/BOE/"><span style="font-weight: 400">BOE</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">-made displays for the Galaxy S21. But unfortunately, the deal did not go through due to undesired quality.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The two Chinese display makers are back again for </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Galaxy-A73/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Galaxy A73</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, Nonetheless, only time will tell if they will be successful in inking a deal this time around. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">For those who are wondering, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> Electronics has been trying to broaden its supply chain partners for quite a while now. </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung-Display/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung Display </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">has been the sole supplier of OLED panels for Samsung Galaxy smartphones for more than 10 years.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The South Korean electronics giant wants to reduce its dependency on Samsung Display for OLED panels. By opting for displays from other manufacturers, the company could get them at a cheaper price. The firm could not only make a profit out of this move but could also pass down this as a benefit to customers by lowering the price.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As far as Galaxy A73 is concerned, the device will reportedly be the first Samsung mid-range smartphone with an OIS-equipped 108P primary camera.</span></p>

<p>The new display panels have already entered into mass production and the product will be launched soon. Similarly, the 144Hz technology has also entered mass production and will also be available by the second half of this year. According to China Star Optoelectronics Technology, the display uses a 30Hz refresh rate when in reading more or viewing static images, which can save up to 18 percent of battery.</p>

<p>This ensures that the device will have a more durable standby time, while the 120Hz refresh rate mode will be used for gaming, watching videos or movies, and more. The higher refresh rate will also have a 240Hz touch sampling rate that should solve the issues regarding motion blur or high speed trailing. The display has a resolution of 2340 x 1090px and a maximum brightness of 500 nits.</p>

<p>Galaxy M51 could become the first Samsung smartphone with non-Samsung Display OLED panel. <p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Samsung-Display"><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung Display</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> is the market leader as the supplier of OLED panels to smartphone OEMs. Last year, the sister company of Samsung Electronics accounted for 80% of small and medium-sized OLED panels market.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">But the monopoly of Samsung Display may soon end as Chinese panel suppliers have begun to improve their quality over the past few years. In fact, Samsung Electronics itself had sent a Request for Quotation (RFQ) to BOE for Galaxy S21, however, those panels </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/10/samsung-galaxy-s21-will-use-proprietary-display-as-boe-oled-panels-failed-testing-report/"><span style="font-weight: 400">failed in tests</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Now, according to a new report, the forthcoming Galaxy M41 will use China’s </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/TCL"><span style="font-weight: 400">TCL </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT) made OLED panel. <p><span style="font-weight: 400">The same panel is found in high-end smartphones like </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">Mi 10 series and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Motorola"><span style="font-weight: 400">Motorola </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">Edge series</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The report further states that Samsung Electronics is also testing </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/BOE"><span style="font-weight: 400">BOE </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">OLED panel for Galaxy M41. If CSOT manages to supply panels for Samsung, future Galaxy M and Galaxy A series might feature displays made by these two Chinese companies rather than Samsung Display.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Both CSOT and BOE have already supplied LCD panels for Samsung’s budget smartphones earlier.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">By using low-cost yet reliable </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OLED"><span style="font-weight: 400">OLED </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">panels from Chinese suppliers, Samsung Electronics can aggressively price their budget smartphones in countries like India.
