Meizu and Ubuntu have a long-standing relationship, with the Chinese manufacturer being one of the few smartphone makers to release Ubuntu editions of its flagships. Looks like this year too, we will see a Ubuntu based smartphone from Meizu, most likely the Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition.

The company has released a new teaser which shows some kind of partnership between Meizu and Ubuntu. Considering the tradition of the company of releasing Ubuntu-powered smartphones at MWC, this teaser is most likely for the launch of the Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition. Last year, we saw Meizu MX4 running Ubuntu at MWC 2015.

This isn’t the first time we are hearing about a Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu edition model. At the start of this month, a couple of pictures of the Pro 5 running on the Ubuntu OS were leaked, which kind of hinted at such a collaboration. Now, it looks like the company is going to make the Pro 5 Ubuntu version official at MWC 2015. Usually, the specs of the device remain the same as before. So, in this Ubuntu edition, we can expect only the software to be different.

Meizu Pro 5 was one of the most powerful flagships of 2015 and it would be interesting to see Ubuntu OS on top of this device. The teaser shows that the company will announce something on February 22, the first day of MWC.

After we’ve ever covered the news about the Meizu is becoming the Ubuntu hardware partner, is now the Meizu is ready to release the Ubuntu smartphone this year.

Mark Shuttlerworth as the Ubuntu founder has choose the Meizu as the Ubuntu’s partner since the Meizu is expertise in penetrating emerging markets. More established manufacturers are expected to hop on the Ubuntu bandwagon in 2015.

In addition to Meizu, the other Ubuntu’s hardware partner is BQ Readers, the Spanish based company that already produce e-reader, tablet, smartphone devices.

The Canonical seems ready to announce their Ubuntu Touch devices in 2015 and aims to have the top 50 mobile applications available on Ubuntu by the end of the year.

Smartphone with Ubuntu operating system will certainly be available in the market starting in October 2013. It was submitted directly by Mark Shuttleworth, founder and CEO of Canonical Ltd. at an event in New York, recently.

Ubuntu is a Linux-based operating systems have been used in a number of servers and other infrastructure in most IT companies. The operating system will now be available on all lines of mobile devices, including phones and tablets. Ubuntu smartphones feature will also be connected to a keyboard or other accessories wirelessly.

In addition, Ubuntu also has a Windows-based application streaming server that can connect corporate users. That way, users can easily access all the data only through a small device.

“You can divide Windows applications to the desktop phone,” said Shuttleworth.

Ubuntu for mobile built using native applications, which means that the developers simply create an application, because it can also run on a PC. This course will allow users when switching from PC to mobile devices. OS was also has gesture technology for navigation or flipping the pages.
