The phone passed through AnTuTu under the model name, BlackShark Skywalker. The phone came in 8+128GB memory configuration, but we know for sure that there’s a higher-end model, with 12GB of RAM on board. Finally, the phone manages to score 359,973, which is pretty average for the new Snapdragon 855 chipset.

Xiaomi has sent out a press release announcing the arrival of Black Shark in India and is currently setting up the operations. As for the product launch, the company said that the official product launch date will be announced later. Along with its gaming smartphones, we also expect the company to bring its peripherals to the Indian market.

Xiaomi Black Shark, the company’s first gaming smartphone, was launched in April last year in China and later went on sale in other markets. It comes with a 6-inch Full HD+ display featuring a 2.5D curved screen and 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor along with Adreno 630 GPU. It also packs an advanced liquid cooling system to dissipate heat that is generated while playing the games.

The device packs 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box which will be later updated to Android 9 Pie. The handset is backed by a 4,000mAh battery. A Bluetooth-powered precision gamepad is also included in the box, for free.

In October last year, the company launched its second gaming smartphone, dubbed Black Shark Halo. It features a 6-inch HDR ready AMOLED display having a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with an Adreno 630 GPU. It is the first device that has gone on sale with 10 GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

In the camera department, Black Shark helo comes with a dual rear camera of 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 20-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, Xiaomi has added a 20megapixel shooter for selfies. The phone also carries extended battery capacity of 4,000mAh to sustain your gaming sessions for even a larger time.

Design

Let your tastes decide, there is not a winner in terms of beauty as these are three gaming-centric phone with gaming-centric aesthetics. Razer Phone 2 is the soberest one with a clean design but also an RGB illuminated Razer Logo on the rear side. Asus ROG Phone has an aggressive design which I personally like more than Black Shark, and it also has three pressure sensitive areas on the back. Razer Phone 2 and Asus ROG Phone are water resistant, while Black Shark is not.

Display

Razer Phone 2 has the best display, even though it is an IPS panel. It has the IGZO and a high Quad HD resolution, as well as the 16:9 aspect ratio which the company defines more suitable for multimedia and games. Besides a high pixel density, it also has the highest brightness and the highest refresh rate (120 Hz). While Razer Phone 2 has the best display for detail and games, Asus ROG Phone should be better when it comes to color reproduction, thanks to its 108.6 percent DCI-P3 coverage, HDR technology, and the Super AMOLED panel.

Specs & Software

In its most expensive variant, Asus ROG Phone has a better hardware side than Razer Phone 2 and Xiaomi Black Shark. The Snapdragon 845 SoC which powers each of these handsets is overclocked on the Asus ROG Phone and this handset is the only one which comes with 512 GB of internal storage (not expandable, unlike Black Shark, but external SD cards have not the same performance as the internal storage).

Camera

Razer Phone 2 has the camera department which convinces us the most, but we will have to test it to confirm our thoughts. It comes with OIS, a wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Both the rear and the front camera can record videos at 60 fps while keeping a 1080p resolution (the rear one can even record in 4K at 60 fps).

Battery

The battery capacity is the same for all of these devices: 4000 mAh. It is an above-average capacity and it is very important for gamers to have a long-lasting battery as games consume a lot. We still can not say for sure which one will last more, but the differences in battery life will be very marginal.

Price

Asus ROG Phone is definitely the winner of this comparison and it is the most complete phone of this trio, but it costs more than its opponents. You can get it for about $899/$776 in the U.S. while Razer Phone 2 will launch at $800/€850. Xiaomi Black Shark costs just €450/$520.

Thanks to the aforesaid discount, the powerful phablet can now be yours for just $499.99.

Those who are on a tight budget can extend this 15% reduction in the device’s retail price further by applying promotion coupon GBblackshark1 at the time of checking out. This will help you save an extra $10 and reduce your already lowered grand total to just $489.99 before you click on the ‘Place Your Order’ button.
Moreover, it packs a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB ROM, under the hood.

With its elaborate metal backplate, we believe the Nubia Red Devil has a more ergonomic design, providing a comfortable grip even after long sessions of gaming. But the Xiaomi Black Shark should be a better phone in terms of performance, as it features the most recent Qualcomm’s processor: the powerful octa-core Snapdragon 845 running at a max frequency of 2.8 GHz. Nubia Red Magic left many disappointed when it was revealed that it is powered by the older Snapdragon 835 which is Qualcomm’s flagship SoC for 2017. Still, there shouldn’t be a huge difference in term of performance.

Both the devices boast a cooling system, but they are different. According to Xiaomi, the air cooling system of Black Shark is able to reduce the temperature by 8° C, while Nubia Red Magic features a different type of air cooling system. Xiaomi Black Shark seems to have a slightly better camera department with a 12 + 20 MP dual camera on its back and a 20 MP selfie camera. The battery is slightly bigger on Xiaomi Black Shark and it features Quick Charge 3.0 as fast charging technology.

Keeping the specs on paper in mind, the Xiaomi Black Shark looks like a slightly better handset, but Nubia Red Magic will probably have a more affordable price if we refer to the global market. Black Shark has a launch price of about $477/€385 in China, while Nubia Red Magic will initially cost $399/€324 worldwide (it will be launched on April 26 through the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo).
