It also has a feature that lets users sync their Gallery photos and videos with the cloud. However, today, the Chinese company announced that it will be discontinuing the Xiaomi Cloud Gallery Sync feature for global users. Here are the details.

According to the official announcement post, the Gallery Sync feature will no longer be supported by Xiaomi Cloud (via). The company is yet to determine the exact date for the discontinuation of this feature, but it will start in 2022.

Users who have stored their photos and videos in the cloud will continue to have access to them through Google Photos. Xiaomi is apparently partnering with Google to support the migration and backup of the data.

In order to keep the photos and videos safe, Xiaomi will offer a convenient way to migrate existing Gallery Sync content to Google Photos. Additionally, users will be able to download their data from Xiaomi Cloud to their local devices or PCs.

The post mentions that the Google Photos migration window will close sometime in 2023 and the data download options will be taken offline. All the existing Gallery data saved on Xiaomi Cloud will be deleted permanently after that.

Further, Xiaomi will cancel all Xiaomi Cloud memberships, and users will be issued a full refund. However, the date for the same is yet to be known. Also, it is worth mentioning that other features of Xiaomi Cloud, such as syncing and backing up other data (such as Contacts, Messages, and Notes) can still be used.
