The early build of the update was expected to have some bugs but in the case of the Mi A2 Lite, just like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/02/xiaomi-pulls-the-android-10-update-from-the-mi-a3-after-several-bug-complaints/">Mi A3</a>, the issues with the update extend beyond just a few minor bugs. Some users complained of their phone&#8217;s LCD getting damaged permanently while in other cases, the battery won&#8217;t charge fully. In some extreme cases, the phones got bricked and several other issues.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Lite_5-e1532756483100.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-203548" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Lite_5-e1532756483100.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="800" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Xiaomi is reportedly working hard to fix the issues caused by the flopped Android 10 update. To this end, the company&#8217;s software team announced in the Mi community that it is working towards rolling out a new OTA update all through this month. In essence, owners of the Mi A2 Lite will start receiving the update in batches before April. However, no specific date was stated for the rollout.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-android-10.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-311168" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-android-10.png?x10805" alt="" width="615" height="554" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-android-10.png 615w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-android-10-300x270.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-android-10-466x420.png 466w" sizes="(max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px" /></a></p>
<p>In addition, Xiaomi is encouraging A2 Lite users whose models were bricked by the botched Android 10 update to take the units to authorized Mi service centres or return them to retailers for post-sales assistance (RMA).</p>
<p>We&#8217;ll keep you informed as soon as the updates start rolling.</p>

Even though the early build is expected to have some bugs, the issues with the update extend beyond just a few minor bugs. A Reddit user has complained that his Mi A2 Lite&#8217;s LCD screen got damaged after the update. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Lite_5-e1532756483100.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-203548" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Lite_5-e1532756483100.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="800" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>According to the user, after the device got the Android 10 update he soon discovered that the bottom of his LCD screen had become damaged after the first boot that was delayed. Before the update, the screen was in perfect working condition and had not shown any sign of degradation. Apart from that, a few other persons in the thread also confirmed having a similar issue on their devices. It is likely that a bug in the kernel may have fed too much voltage to the backlight and fried it.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/mi-a2-lite/'><img width="225" height="300" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-225x300.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-medium size-medium" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-768x1023.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-769x1024.jpg 769w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-696x927.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-1068x1422.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-315x420.jpg 315w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/mi-a2-lite-1920x2557.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px" /></a>

<p>The Reddit user also reported that after upgrading to Android 10, the battery indicator got stuck at 66% and despite charging it for several hours. As at this moment, Xiaomi is yet to respond to this issue. Perhaps, that is because the OTA update is yet to be rolled out.</p>
<p>The stock Android-packing Xiaomi A-series models have been plagued with one controversy or the other since the company started rolling out updates. Recently, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/29/android-10-update-finally-arrives-for-mi-a3-and-redmi-note-8-pro/">Mi A3 got updated to Android 10</a> and the update was filled with so many bugs that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/02/xiaomi-pulls-the-android-10-update-from-the-mi-a3-after-several-bug-complaints/">Xiaomi had to roll back the update</a>.</p>

The company, however, took the industry by surprise when it launched the Mi A1 in 2017 and then the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite 2018 running stock Android under Google&#8217;s Android One program. The Mi A3 was also released in 2019. The Mi A2 and A2 Lite launched with Android 8.1 Oreo but received Android 9 update last ear. The Mi A2 Lite had earlier been <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/31/xiaomi-mi-a2-lite-android-10-update-officially-confirmed-timeframe-not-disclosed-yet/">confirmed to receive Android 10 update</a>.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Lite_5-e1532756483100.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-203548" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Lite_5-e1532756483100.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="800" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>Now, several Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite units running Android 10 have surfaced on GeekBench. The models included versions having 3GB and 4GB of RAM. The Mi A2 Lite models were also listed with the MSM8953 motherboard which integrates the Snapdragon 625 that powers the Mi A2 Lite.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/xiaomi-mi-a2-lite.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-303999" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/xiaomi-mi-a2-lite.png?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Android 10" width="563" height="582" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/xiaomi-mi-a2-lite.png 563w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/xiaomi-mi-a2-lite-290x300.png 290w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/xiaomi-mi-a2-lite-406x420.png 406w" sizes="(max-width: 563px) 100vw, 563px" /></a></p>
<p>As stated earlier, Xiaomi had earlier confirmed the Mi A2 Lite will receive Android 10 update after disgruntled users filed a petition for not receiving Android 10 update on <a href="https://piunikaweb.com/2020/01/27/mi-a2-lite-android-10-update-change-org-petition/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Change.org</a>. Before the petition, the company had earlier hinted that it had no plans of releasing Android 10 update for the A2 Lite. Thus, the GeekBench listings may be an indication that the update will roll out pretty soon. We expect the Mi A2 to also receive the update for Google&#8217;s latest OS version. No doubt, this will definitely be the last major Android update the Mi A2 models will receive.</p>
